The short answer, although the question is somewhat provocatively phrased, is yes. In fact, black babies in general fare far worse than any other racial demographic when it comes to abortion.

While comparative data is hard to come by in terms of the number of abortions compared to, say, homicides for example, it is true that at a ratio of 474 abortions per 1,000 live births, black women have the highest abortion rate of any female demographic in the United States. Thus it is that the abortion rate for black women is almost five times that for white women.

Suffice to say, the data for black males in terms of homicides is similarly not reassuring. While black males between the ages 16 and 24 comprised only about 1% of the population age 12, they experienced 5% of all violent victimizations.

Nevertheless, when the data are compared, and there are abortion rates among black women as high as 62% in Alabama and 34% of all women nationwide, it is hard to argue that black men (or women for that matter) are any more secure in their mother's wombs than they are on the street. The data, again, argues otherwise.

Of course, there are other variables that come into play. Income level - the lower the income level, the higher the abortion rate. Similarly, illegitimacy rates play a part, though here again "out of wedlock" pregnancies are highest in the African-American community.

Interestingly, by contrast, among church going African-Americans - a population that tends heavily Methodist and Baptist - the abortion and illegitimacy rates are actually below the average not just for blacks, but for whites and indeed below the overall national average. This making the key point that it is less about skin color or other racial factors than it is about the character of the cultural environment in which a girl is raised and in which she lives.

This, suffice to say, makes a mockery of the so-called "Black Lives Matter" movement, one of whose postulates is the abolition of the traditional family unit. The data being quite clear that women raised absent that family unit are far more apt to get pregnant out of wedlock and abort their babies, both relative to other African-Americans and to the population overall.

In effect, those who imbibe the ideology that is "black lives matter," in resisting what they regard as a white imposed traditional morality, are literally rendering the lives of those on whose behalf they are nominally advocating as effectively relatively valueless. Thus more likely to be eliminated.

It is ironic, to say no more. Though perhaps tragic is the better word. The degree to which black lives matter being contingent not on their heritage or skin color, but simply on where they are in the gestational process.
