Why does society always tell girls to doubt themselves?

To be a little bit more polite, considerate, not loud, not rude, not greedy. Or else she will get called all sorts of names

It's about control and it's not exclusive to women. Although men aren't told the same things precisely, there are a slew of things we are directly and indirectly told to doubt ourselves and question our opinions, thoughts, and self esteem. Sorry. I just had to get it out there.

There are several reasons. First, doubt is a weapon that not only distracts but also redirects attention from other issues onto oneself. Second, doubt relinquishes responsibility of things/ideas/actions that cause problems and make the person with doubt of themselves feel like these issues are directly or indirectly "their fault", whether it be them causing something or them "overreacting" to something that isn't "a big deal". Thirdly, conformity creates predictability which makes controlling a large quantity of people easier if they all share similar ideas or act similarly. Fourth, it sets a standard for people to strive to be which in turn manipulates people to exclude, shame, or punish people who go against the tide. Lastly, conformity gives people the false pretense of "understanding" the world. People want to think all girls should be this and all guys should be that. They want to believe they have a coherent understanding of "truth" where truth is more often subjective and not fact but rather a sentiment of peace that they understand something in a world and life of uncertainty and insecurity. In that sense, criticizing women for not being the stereotype could be seen as a method of preserving fabricated truth and opposition to that security of "knowing" sparks resistance. These are just some of my ideas. There's plenty of other reasons but I hope I was able to give at least some food for thought.

You live in a society depending on other people's services and on products that they make. While if you have a job they are dependent on your job too. It's called interdependence. You have to respect others who are also running the system. It is a responsibility of everyone who participates. Imagine that you think that you won't give respect to someone who doesn't give respect to you. You think you outsmarted the system? I'm telling you every single fucker thinks the same way. Which is good because by giving respect first you can trigger their respect. So people don't give respect cus it is such a good feeling to do the "right thing" you give respect because that's how you'll receive it. And if you don't receive it. Well fuck them then you can leave with class. I think this is first lesson of being mature accapt that people do things out of interest and just because they want something it isn't necessary something dodgy, you might just end up living in a better society by contributing.

Maybe because many women tend to be cowards and incesure. Learn to defend yourself. I am judged because i dont wear hijab, make up and feminine stuff- i mostly wear t-shirts, jeans, blouses and sometimes dresses and so on. I dont even shave my arms/legs. If someone say a shit, i bully them back.

I think what you're saying is truer for conservative cultures such as Asian cultures where strict gender roles are enforced and to a degree embraced. Women there traditionally are seen to be nurturing, accepting, submitting, basically a good wife to a man who she will be arranged marriage with and belong to a higher social standing than hers. Men, and their families, especially the women (mother in law, sister in law, etc.) look for wives who are traditional, non-combative, non-confrontational, timid, etc. to sort of fit into a lifestyle.

I’ll keep this “anon” because I’ll probably get crap for it no matter what I say but I believe it is to keep her humble. Not in an oppressive way though but so that she can build up her confidence. If you’re always told that you’re great or awesome no matter what you do, you’ll end up getting insecure the first time somebody challenges you and says something critical about you.

Let me make something clear. No women are of zero value based on the fact that they’re women and anyone that says they are is either dumb, lying or both. Women can do about a million things that a man can’t and vice verse, men can do about a million things that a woman can’t do but that doesn’t make either of them any less valuable than the other one.

We both have value and add value to each other, we don’t take that value away from each other simply by being of the opposite sex. We complement each other.

I always judge people by their character and actions, not by their sex. You can be a quiet boy or a loud girl, it doesn't matter.

As for society? Men were always in charge of public opinions and they don't want to see a rude or loud girl in general. They don't care about boys. Take that women often adopt the ideas of their men and behold, the matter gets simple.
