No one said climate change was a hoax, that is a straw man argument. What has been argued, for over a century now mind you, is that climate change is normal, it happens all the time hence us having at least five major ice ages and five major global warming events, why we had the late antiquity warming period, the dark age cooling period, the middle age warming period, the renaissance cooling period and the current warming period that started before any kind of wide spread industralization took place.

Its why we also had tropical rainforests as far north as modern day britain in the past, why we had temperate forests in antarctica etc. Instrumental data consistently shows that climate models are wrong, satelite data consistently shows that climate models are wrong, and yet those who push the climate models are trying to alter society, gain power, and push this idea that anthropogenic climate change is man made when the data just doesn't bare that out. Due humans contribute? Sure, I mean technically if you where to drop off a single human on pluto they would alter the enviroment, but just because they alter the enviroment doesn't mean they are the main, secondary, or tertiary cause of the change. Thats what people disagree with.

Who controls the weather? It ain't people, that's for certain! When you figure out exactly what's causing these major weather events, then maybe... and ONLY maybe... you can take steps to REDUCE their effects. You'll NEVER stop them, ever!

All those believing climate change is man caused, had better start thinking about what's happening to actually "cause" climate change. If you truly believe it's man caused, then start by blaming the countries that are the worst at it and hammer them before you put the US into the 1800's again.

Before you take one of our tax dollars, I want to see a specific plan on where that money is being spent and specifically what the outcome of those projects will be - IN the US 🇺🇸. You're sure as Hell NOT taking our taxes and giving them to some foreign countries for them to spend on "climate change"! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that only 10% of that money will actually be used in some useless projects, while the other 90% gets pocketed by the foreign government leaders. Man-caused climate change is a Communist/Globalist lie that is intended to shut down Western Civilisation.
To be taken in by this Communist lie, a person would have to be utterly ignorant of history and how the planet's biosphere works. They would have to be ignorant of something as simple of photosynthesis.
Carbon dioxide is not pollution, it is a trace gas that is essential to life. The current level of carbon dioxide is the lowest in the history of the planet, so far as can be determined. Plants need carbon dioxide to stay alive. In return, they give us oxygen.
When the level of carbon dioxide increases, plant growth increases, which reduces the level of carbon dioxide. The system is self balancing.
Anyone who has studied history will know that the temperature and overall climate of the planet has been in flux since day one.
Its is not humans who cause changes, it is the big light in the sky.
When the ignorant (or lying) leftards rabbit on about 'the hottest day ever' or similar tripe, the response can be that accurate records have not been kept for much more than a century and then mention the Mediaeval Warm Period. I guarantee that none of them know about that.
Between the fall of the Roman Empire and the beginning of the Renaissance the planet was much warmer than it is now.

The thing I find the most interesting about the climate change controversy is that people make their decisions on what they believe based on their political affiliations.

It's just wild to me that nothing is above politics, not even science, which is supposed to be a logical, empirical process, without emotional influence. But we still have mindless people from both the left and right just smashing the political button over and over, not really caring about information.

Personally, I don't worry about it a whole lot, because I'm stuck on a planet with 7 billion people and it doesn't really matter what I think, we're all headed where we are headed and no one is going to exert any control over the situation, because they're too busy wanting to prove each other wrong and won't do any agreeing. I do see the oceans being overfished, and the price of seafood skyrocketing, and garbage being tossed everywhere. I think food will become an issue before temperature, and then it will just be a matter of the poorest people dying first, as they cannot afford the $100 hamburgers.

No one with above average intelligence and an interest in science that has spent several hour researching climate change from sources other than mainstream media will believe the fantasy of manmade climate change, let alone global warming. About 15 years ago when mainstream media was pushing the fantasy of manmade global warming, the polar cap on mars was receding. Of course, you didn't know about that from mainstream media because the fact that the sun was heating up mars didn't fit their agenda and even the fools wouldn't believe that human activity was warming mars.

The danger is not global warming. Instead it is global cooling since the sun is entering a cooling phase that may last for decades. In any event about every 100,000 years, the millions of years long Ice Age, has a intergalactic warm period lasting 12,000 to 15,000 years. The current intergalactic warm period started about 12,000 year ago and could end now or in 3,000 years returning the earth to the Ice Age. Records indicate the transaction can occur rapidly and should the intergalactic warm period end, snow in much of Asia, Europe, and most of North America will never melt making growing crops impossible. As a result, billions of people will die.

I don't think many deny the climate is changing.

What is questionable is how much of an impact humans have on that, vs how much is just naturally occurring.

My own personal opinion is that we have had a bit of an impact, but it's well over blown and I think a lot of it would have happened if humans were here or not.

NASA have actually been looking at planets similar to earth for the last few years and have recorded very similar climate changes despite no humans bring there.

What's also up for debate is if humans are effecting the climate, what exactly is causing it. For example right now the gas powered car and oil industry is literally under attack and governments are promoting EV's. Despite EV's being way more harmful to build than gas powered vehicles as well as the environmental impact of them not being properly recycled and where the power comes from to charge them.

I know here in Canada, we have an absolutely useless carbon tax (that does nothing, it's literally just using climate change as a money grab by the government). But if you really want to make a big impact, we should be looking at polluting factories in China that make a much bigger impact.

It really depends on what you mean when you say "climate change is a hoax" as different people are talking about different things.

1) The climate ALWAYS changes. Always has and always will. That's baked into the nature of reality. It's also something we've been aware of for hundreds of years so really nothing new.

2) There appears to be evidence that human activity has contributed to some extent to climate change--specifically in the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere post the industrial revolution. However, it is worth noting that things OTHER than human activity can ALSO increase the amount of carbon in the atmosphere (e. g., volcanic activity) and has done so to a tremendous degree at times in the past during earth's history.

3) So I think most people would agree that climate change is a thing and that human activity is a factor. Next comes the question of "so what?" THIS is where things go all over the place and people start to see some suggestions as nonsensical or moronic. Included in this is the catastrophism of the people who say the earth will be destroyed in 12 years. It's actually pretty funny because growing up you learn about doomsday cultists and how people have always held this view that we're living in "end times." It's been a feature of religious cults for millennia. Typically we kind of chuckle with amusement at how people could have been so foolish to believe such non-sense. And yet. . .

look at Hurricanes coming to the East Coast from Florida and
up to Pennsylvania and the winds can be an extreme look they
go up to New York and all the fires on the West Coast people

Obviously not. There are crop failures and severe natural disasters happening with staggeringly increasing frequency.

The oceans are acidifying and running out of fish.

You really just need to go see a few destroyed regions to bring it into focus.

We've had whole towns burn down in Canada, an entire coastline of sea life cook alive and flooding in places that used to be permafrost.

We also now have a smoke season from forest fires every year that certainly wasn't a thing when I was growing up.

The story repeats to some degree in any country you google with easily found supporting data.

Of particular note is that China is surviving off of food imports right now.

It's pretty obviously a massive global climate disaster to anyone who can read. Only liars and fools are calling it a hoax at this point.

Climate change not a hoax at all, but I do think humans over estimate how much impact they really have on the environment. People forget that from the 1300s to the 1800s, the world was actually in a miniature pre-ice age. So all of our modern ideas about "normal" come from a time when things were on the cold side, and we have an extraordinarily small window of observation to extrapolate from. We started keeping records of weather during that pre-ice age. So along comes the industrial revolution right as the pre-ice age is ending, and humanity thinks that everything is heating up super fast.

Well... it might be heating up a bit faster than we would hope for, but it's not like humanity triggered the thawing process.

no, the climate is always changing. it may be changing to a more drastic level now than ever... who knows. Is it because of humans or just how it goes? Not unlike the ice age, when Connecticut USA was under Two thousand feet of ice... humans weren't doing that, and before that, it was really hot... a few thousand years before. That had to be tough to grow tomatoes back then during the ice age.

It is not good for those in the areas that get flooded out and we will all have to accept human migration like always as areas become not habitable, like in the past. But warm usually translates to easier to grow food... if it isn't too dry.

Lets hope for the best, plan for the worst, do the best we can in intelligent ways. I seriously doubt it is driving an E-car, but make your choices.

It is not a hoax, it really does happen, it has happened throughout Earths history. My question has always been how much is man made?

Scientists can't seem to say if its 10% or 50%... there is no research that I have ever been able to find that determines what percentage is human caused.

This is very important, because if humans only cause 30% of it, that means no matter what we do, we can only slow or stop 30% of the change.

If humans cause 70% then we can do more.

I get people telling me (without anything backing it up) that its 90% human caused... in their opinion.

It is also not so easy of a fix, big cities can give up cars and take mass transit, but rural America where I live... there is no mass transit. Every law or change the government puts in to force people to drive less and pollute less, just hurts us... with no change because we have no other choice.

Climate change has been going on for ages. If you go out long enough there is a regular pattern to the climate. You have to look at the data for the last thousand years.
