In the 1970s, most people believed that we would discover alien life through radio telescopes. As of this date we haven't even found one alien microbe. A new telescope is going to be launched into what's known as a LaGrange point between the earth gravity and the Sun's gravity called the James Webb Space Telescope. If all goes well this thing will be eight times larger than the Hubble Space Telescope. It will be able to see primarily in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. It will be able to look at the atmospheres of exoplanets, and be able to determine once and for all of it if any biology is occurring inside those planets atmospheres. Now inside of our own solar system, besides the Earth, there is a moon of Saturn called Enceladus. That is the only other body in the solar system that has the highest potential for life outside of the Earth. My money is on Enceladus.
Fascinating and very cool. Thanks for sharing :)
Your point is not entirely true. They have been finding alien bacteria, some even on the space station that is not from Earth. It's not like the little green people in flying saucers, but it's technically life.
The assumption is intelligent life, but if it was, and checking us out, I doubt many would stop when they realize how warring our species is. We talk up peace but not after trying to kill it. They have seen our movies. The worse thing that could happen is have Jeff Goldblum show up and blow your mother ship to kingdom come.
@Qdbrown , of course there are alien microbes, where do they think life on Earth came from? Our planet started out as a molten blob of liquid rock, completely sterile, it took millions of years of asteroid, comet and planetoids collisions into our cooling planet to beget life, from “ alien” microbes. WE are made up of alien microbes, only our planetary peculiarities, like oxygen, nitrogen, argon and helium percentages, percent of gravity and percent of sunlight make us look different from our cousin Marvin The Martian, or The Blues and The Greys.
Actually, abiogenesis is thought in some circles to have arisen inside the SUN, of all places. let me explain.
Prior to the sun initiating the main sequence, it was known as a protostar. At the initial stages of it being a protostar, it's core was the only safe haven for complex chemistry to be shielded from high energy processes. as time passed, the complex chemistry evolved into organic chemistry, which created amino acids. these ancient building blocks of proteins can be found on meteorites.
You make it sound like life requires our approval. You know fish in the depth of the ocean probably don't know that we have built cities up here but does them not accepting it cancels our existence?
As long as we haven't seen for ourselves that the entire cosmos is barren and empty we cannot rule out the existing of life and of we ever find proof of it then that's that it wouldn't be up for debate wether to accept reality or not
Intelligence is not the sole domain of Humanity on Earth. But what separates us from every other creature on this planet and as far as we know on the entire universe, is the fact that our ability to be sentient be self-aware to be cognitive of our own existence has allowed us for the first time in all of history to evolve independently cognitively away from nature. We are light years ahead of every other living creature on this planet because of that ability. I'm not saying that the cetaceans and primates do not have some form of sentience, they do but not to the extent that we do. That's why communicating what's sentient intelligent alien life it's going to be a hell of a lot easier been trying to communicate with dolphins.
Some people might not accept it. Some religious people for example might not. Yes I agree accepting reality isn't up for debate lol
Of course I’d accept it. I’d be beyond thrilled. Either they’re neutral to us and interesting, they’re benevolent to us and life here improves, or they’re hostile to us and I can watch this world die. I win regardless.
If they wanted to kick our ass, they would've done so LOOOOOONG AGO!!!
They've been watching for thousand, if not millions of years! A decade or so ago, there was a nuclear missile silo that was about to launch nukes. They suddenly showed up and screwed with the controls to keep them from being launched!
We'd all be dead by now.
It wouldn't be suprising... of course there is other life out there... the opposite would be massively more suprising

I would read the article and judge, but in the end some bacteria on another rock in space won't change my life in any way. It's must be true and create some kind of break through event for that to happen.
I would agree because there is no way this planet is the only one to have life. There are soo billions of planets, moons, stars, galaxies, etc out there!!
"the real thing can kill you whether you believe in it or not" - EntreriIt doesn't matter what you believe in. It is not relevant in front of facts.
What do you mean? There is an app for it. Just download CE5 App and reach out and connect with some alien civilizations.
I would fear the consequences, our speciefies is very bad at tolerating other beings so i fear war wouldn't be far behind
Sure. If they provide the details and science behind it.
What do you mean, IF they discover it? It's been here all along!!
Have been waiting 40 years for my pansy ass Gubmint to tell the truth.
The only thing we can get out of our experts on Coast to Coast radio is, they follow the movement of nuclear weapons.
If the government told me that there was ET life I would not believe them
I'm curious why you wouldn't believe them?
Because they constantly lie to us. If they tell us that there is ET life then it is because it will be to their advantage to tell us. I trust the Democrats even less. They lie about everything for political purposes. The blamed Trump for things done under Obama's admin and CNN just went along with all of it like it was fine to do.
I'm confused, what does politics have to do with NASA and other countries space programs? What if the soviet union or Europe discovered life in outer space?
NASA is now political and is promoting CRT. They are not a neutral agency. I don't trust the Soviets either.
Accept it i'd be quite excited
Need proof and something to testify it
I already know there is
After the proof is published.
Sure why not
