How much is taken out of taxes?

If I make $15 an hour and I work Monday through Friday how much will I actually get paid on a monthly basis after taxes are taken out? I live in Michigan.

will tell you how much should be withheld from your check for federal income tax withholding. In addition to federal income tax, 7.65% of your gross wage will be withheld for Social Security and Medicare taxes. I have no idea of what will be withheld due to Michigan state income taxes.

You are paying well over half of your income in taxes (I would say over 75%) when you figure income tax, Social Security, Medicare, unemployment, workers comp, sales tax on everything you buy, state income tax if you have one, city and local taxes, parking fees, license plate fees, tolls, gas tax (which is quite high), cell phone taxes (look at how much your cell phone bill is and then look how much the taxes are on that), property taxes if you own property or build into the rent you pay, all kinds of taxes if you fly somewhere, and hotel tax when you get there, taxes on car insurance, garbage fees, recycling fees, water fees, electric fees and all the taxes they add on to those, all the little taxes they build into things to subsidize everyone else, plus in the price of things you buy you're paying the taxes of all the companies and people above you who had to pay taxes to get that item to you.

The more you make the more they take the more hours you work the higher the tax bracket you go into. When I was making $15/hr back in 91 I could make a decent check if I didn’t go over 7 hours of overtime, if I did 8 hours of overtime taxes wiped out 6 hours of it
