Maybe the people at the very top of the Taliban have some good intentions right now because one of their goals is to get international recognition and be treated like a full member state of the U. N. If they play the game right that will make it possible for them to openly sell mineral resources worth Trillions and build a modern nation in their own style.

BUT they don't have full control of all Taliban factions and they're in bed with terrorists like the 5k hardcore terrorists they released from prison. There's also lots of other foreign terrorists types from Pakistan in Afghanistan. The Taliban has zero problem with Al Qaeda and have said that recently.

I would trust them less than I trust Pakistan & Pakistan is a known backstabber and sponsor of terrorism.

It is funny. At no time, can the Taliban be trusted. They can't be trusted now. They can't be trusted in the future.

Nor could they be trusted when this stupid deal was negotiated.

It's the failure of the system (in this case the empire) to provide for it's subjects, so populists win ground. Populists may or may not have real solutions or anything, but they really are satisfying like that exact shape and size plug that fits perfectly into a certain hole, like they were made for each other. In this case those populists were the talibans, they were supported almost unanimously by the masses.

As a completion, that's when populations are angry. It's probably why the soviet Union didn't do a great job taming them either. You tame hungry masses with food, you tame poor people with granting them riches and luxury, you tame proud people with titles and maybe even power and so on, and you tame bitches with diamonds. Fail to do that and you will have riots, which is what you deserve for being a cheapskate. Be generous and open your wallet wide, and the world will bow at your feet. Just pour dollar bills without holding back.
