* You need to know that no right is absolute.
* You need to know that you live at the mercy of everyone else on this planet. If we don't like what you're doing, we'll kill you. It's just that simple. No "rights" are going to protect you. Weapons and violence protect you if you have enough weapons and gumption for violence to survive.
* Besides, what you REALLY need to know is that there really is no such thing as "rights". "Rights" are born out of expectations. Over 4 billion years of evolution have made it so that you, as a human, have an expectation that you will do whatever is necessary to survive, including using violence, regardless of others' "rights". For a society to function, it needs to minimize violence. So, societies are constructed to enable you to survive to ideally not need violence to do so, thus, you are given "rights" within the society to help you survive, but, as part of that social contract, you have to behave according to the rules of that society. If you behave outside of the rules of that society, your "rights" are taken away. Try and get them back... You can't - unless you can engage in a sufficient amount of violence to get those freedoms that had previously been a "right". Good luck with that: Society outguns you by orders of magnitude... Again, do not forget, you live at the mercy of everyone else and we will kill you if need be regardless of any "rights" you think you have. That's 4 billion years of evolution talking.

Masks with the N95 rating only help so much. N95 masks help curtail the spread of the larger droplets of Covid, but don't do anything when it comes to blocking tiny aerosol vapors and particulates, which can also contain Covid. The N95 is a NIOSH/OSHA rating, not a medical rating. That means an N95 mask will block 95% of vapors and particulates larger than 0.3 microns per cubic centimeter. Covid can be airborne in vapor and particulates smaller than 0.3 microns. That means an N95 masks will block 0% of the vapors and particulates smaller than 0.3 microns. So wearing an N95 mask does help to a certain extent, but the messaging and information has been very vague. We really should all be wearing masks like this:

This is a half-face respirator with Magenta-Black HEPA filters that block at least 99.97% of all vapors and particulates larger than 0.3 microns. I use this mask on abatement jobs, and you need to be clean shaven so the silicone in the mask makes a proper fit with your face (it's been a while since I've been on an abatement job, hence the beard). You can find these masks and cartridges on the North and Honeywell websites, and more mask rating information on the NIOSH and OSHA websites.

Ya know wearing a seat belt is the same as masks. My state has passed a law fining people for not wearing a mask just like you can be fined for not wearing a seat belt.

Crazy our infection rates have really dropped since doing this.

Laws are passed to protect others from irresponsible people who put others at risks.

Also laws are passed to protect people that don't have enough common sense to protect themselves. (Like Seatbelts)

True wearing a mask isn't a law, but tbh they could pass a law if they felt it necessary in every state like they did in mine and i hope they do and all the people claiming it's their right will no longer be accurate to claim its their right

Sadly they are trying to give people the benefit of the doubt that we have enough people with commonsense to wear a mask without a law being passed, but sadly too many people don't have commonsense to protect themselves and others.

I'm be the first to say that I hate wearing a mask. But I experienced the joys a long ICU stay and not being able to breath on your own. I was hit by a distracted drive while crossing the street in September of 2019. I was in coma and on life support due to being unable to breath on my own. Even after coming out of the coma I was still having major issues breathing on my own. So I know the joys of being in the ICU and being on life support.

To say it was a shit experince is a huge understatement. Things like having a iv system in both arms. Having a tracheostomy and three tubes running down your throat are not fun. The constant noise from all the crap you are hooked up on. The shit hospital food and trying to eat it when you have tubes running in your mouth and down your throat. Don't even get me started on tracheostomy cleanings.

Me wearing a mask and getting the vax was not politically motivated. I do both because one trip to the ICU was then enough for me. Also I don't like many people. I just don't want anyone around me to go through the same shit I did because I didn't wear a mask or get the vax.

Sunk cost fallacy. They have a LOT invested in the idea that "Covid's going to kill us all!" and will cling to it despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary. If they admit the dangers were overestimated, and that they overreacted, they'll have to accept that all the damage they caused was unnecessary.

The longer it goes on, the harder it's going to be for them to say "I was wrong". I saw the same thing with the war in Iraq- when it began, about half of the country was in a favor of it. Only a tiny fraction of them will admit that now- even to say "I WAS in favor of it, based on what I knew at the time".

Many have genuinely convinced themselves that anyone who opposes what they're trying to do is killing people, when the truth is almost the exact opposite. I'm starting to think this conflict isn't libertarianism vs authoritarianism, but individualism vs collectivism.

This is a false framing of the argument since it's clear to anyone with a shred of common sense that masks do nothing in real world settings.

The idea that they do is just absurd and laughable.

So really, mask wearing is just virtue signalling, misguided and driven by fear, or to make a political statement of sorts.
