Shooting someone as a means of avoiding a fistfight is about the most pussy thing you can do on this planet, and is my main issue with people having Guns. That should in no way be considered an acceptable situation to use deadly force. That was just a fistfight about to happen, and being afraid of losing a fight should not be grounds to JP the ante with a weapon. What a pussy. The Washington kid seems like he might be a dick, but you can’t just go around shooting people because they were disrespectful or tried to initiate empty-handed combat.

I tried to look for a video but I couldn't find it. There is this little lone guy picking a fight with some bigger dude who's with his girlfriend and the guy gets enough of him and accepts to fight him. Then the little guy dodges his punch, grabs him and throws him head first in the concrete and apparently the guy died.

My point is, it's smarter to take "the pussy road" and end the aggressor by any means possible than to being a hero and dead on the ground. After all, the aggressor is always in the wrong.

I can't go around expecting anyone I want to fistfight me on the concrete. And if they refuse and use other "unfair" means to defend themselves, I get to complain that they're pussies for not fistfighting me :D No, of course I'm in the wrong even if someone decides to shoot me. It would be my own fault and no blame should be put on the defender, obviously.

@Soremain @Juxtapose My thing with your angles on this is that you’re assuming the worst-case scenario to be the likelihood, and I’d wager heavily that it’s not. I’ve been in more than my share of fights, I’ve seen even more, and now with the internet, you can find fights all over the place. When I was in high school, a kid my age died in the next state over after he just got punched behind the ear and it ruptured something and ultimately killed him, although that was an agreed upon (and I think scheduled, like “meet me after school at the flagpole” lmao) fight. But most fights don’t end in death or even serious injury, we’re being very dramatic if we contend that. Yeah, you COULD die, but the guy texting while driving next to me on the highway COULD crash into me and kill me…. can I shoot him too? Or for speeding, or cutting me off at a merging lane? I understand it’s not direct and malicious assault but the worst case scenario is death in that instance too, that’s all that really matters, so where do we draw the line?

@Soremain @Juxtapose I don’t really care if people have guns in a vacuum, I just think so many people are scared of a nosebleed or even just looking bad in front of others that they want this trump card of having a gun so they never have to run the risk of that. Having a gun tells me that you’re fearful, and scared people are often unpredictable and dangerous, even when ultimately well-intentioned. And whatever, you want to keep a gun on you in case someone else has a deadly weapon, that’s fine, but it’s like there’s this rush to excuse oneself to use deadly force against a most-likely-non-lethal threat. Like if someone wants to beat an aggressor to death, I have no qualms with that, it just seems like either no one wants to do the heavy lifting or no one has confidence in their fistfighting skills and would rather just shoot somebody. Like why not spend some of your gun range time in martial arts class or something and learn to kick ass when you’re in danger? Guns just feel lazy to me in that regard, haha.

But it still goes past my point, which is that as a defender, you don't need to take any risks or even get your hands dirty even if you're sure you can beat him to death with your fists. I mean why break a knuckle if you can just end it cleanly. After all, you didn't do it to prove anything, you didn't agree to any kind of fair fight, but you were in the right to defend yourself. Sure you get tons of swaggery points for kicking someone's ass with your bare hands and the more attackers the cooler, but that's not an obligation in any sensible way.
