A man was slapped with a felony charge for doing a burnout in his pickup truck on top of a street-painted mural of a "pride" flag.

Several cities in the US have painted rainbow crosswalks on roads. Some have proven to be unsafe, since the paint is slippery, causing some cars to lose control in the rain, as well as pedestrians slipping and falling.

There's a reported case of a rainbow crosswalk in an LGBTQ+ neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, USA that cost the city $10 thousand dollars to paint. After a series of auto and pedestrian incidents caused by its slipperiness, it was removed and replaced with a standard white diagonal striped crosswalk, at a cost of another $10 grand.

I don't think it should be a felony, maybe a misdemeanor and he has to pay for it to be repaired or put some elbow grease into repairing it himself. Humiliation can sometimes play a great roll in making someone reconsider their wrong doings.

We are speaking of a FELONY here. This was not directed towards a particular victim. This was directed towards a cause. That is different. No persons were injured during this.

In addition, why are we painting murals like this on a public roadway? Were tax dollars used for this? The only paint that should be on the street is for safety and defining lanes and hazards. Otherwise, these murals are unacceptable.

Burn outs are illegal, and on top of that he ruined someone’s art work in the process, so yes it was an attack against one person, as one person made this art work happen and he ruined it because differing and hateful view points. Street art should not be this distracting and within an intersection. As a former EMT, I know intersections are particularly hazardous. Second, were tax payer funds used for this purpose? Was this city-sponsored?

Eh, I tend to lean right myself. I believe there should be a balance, however, in those types of situations. If someone is pulling in your driveway just to turn around or approaches your door to alert you of something important, then no, there should not be any grounds to shoot. However, if someone enters your property to steal, conduct suspicious activities, or is a threat, then yes. I believe everyone has a right to defend themselves, their loved ones, their property, or to defend any other person who is in danger.

There was a broader story behind that. Kyle was approached in a malicious and hostile manner by these rioters and looters. He legitimately feared of bodily harm, and he had a right to defend himself. Those rioters got what they deserved.
