You do realize that organized trips to foreign countries are carefully tailored to give off a far above reality image of the country, right? This is why when you go to the usual tourist spots in say central America or the Caribbean, the resorts and beaches look immaculate but if you leave those areas the whole place is like a third world country, and the cleancut waitor that served your 4-star meal is living in a dirt-floored shack or tenement building. China is no different in this regard.
China's predatory impact on the rest of the world isn't visible inside it's borders; physically go to places like Turkey and Zimbabwe or Afghanistan and it's far more obvious. It's a country typically seen as a last resort for international trade by those countries, because they know they'll get a raw deal, but the US, EU, and Russia have largely neglected places like Africa and South America, so now China has nearly a monopoly on trade in those areas.
Ther is F communism, that whas damn propaganda even my parents, my sister who live in communism whas forced alwase in fron of international comunitys visit to smile, to sign, to be happy, say poems and make them feel as wecomed posible.
But in reality you will be investigated for what you had say, why did you say thous and if you are descovered you say something that can put problem to the reputation of the communist party you and your family will face poverty.
My family whas never supose to say we don't have food, hot wather, heat in house, posibility to travel.

I see China as a general threat.
Not because of their political beliefs or their autocratic rulership, but rather because of their reckless and egocentric habit of grabbing TODAY whatever they can - regardless of future impact (to them, and to others).
Here, they are very similar to U. S. behaviour.
Fat and happy people does not necessarily mean that their mindset is right. But we must not forget that there are also millions of uninformed puppets who have no clue about what's going on.

I think the history of it is this:
Indians got to be the bosses, probably some thousands of years ago, the Chinese ended up being the workers. Since then, India regularly abuses China, and every so many centuries lets it overrun all the way into Europe to mix with 'foreign blood' (the Mongol conquests). So, the Chinese work and keep quiet since they expect to get that, and Indians make us believe they are the bad guys to rob us/get Chinese goods sold (along with Indian rubber, opium, tea etc).
A bit like Russia, they are a predominantly peasant based society that has never known freedom, that has been rapidly moved in to the modern era. The average person is really nice, however the government and all its various levels of bureaucracy is not so nice, not evil but they play a very long game in So much as they are still responding to Opium War and World War events.
