Most of my computer parts are made in China. All of my test gear is made in China. It scares me that we are feeding money into a country like China that is going to hold the West to ransome at some point.

Why don't we produce this stuff ourselves, in the West?

Labor is a large part of the cost of any product. All those Western laws and expectation and living cost make it more expensive to build stuff in some countries than others. And if you don't make your products in the cheapest place possible, you can get your competitor will.
I like your thinking. We should build more stuff ourselves. But I understand why we don't.

Yes, I think they're dangerous and we won't realize how much so till they start invading other territories. They are building up their military in a big way and they are good at economic sabotage. They will probably take over economically and then take over militarily when they are clearly too big to fail.
