China isn't a super-power - it's just the leading country of all the many countries that isn't a super-power. China has a large military - in body count - but most are conscripts, training is poor, equipment is poor, maintenance is a joke, most of their "Navy" is either tiny coastal ships, and the few larger ships they have cannot stray far from China because they run on fuel oil and have limited range. They built a "super-carrier" that can't launch planes, and their old Russian ski-jump carriers are never deployed because they end up having to be towed home when they are, because their engines are worn out.

5 years ago, China was a major financial player, but things changed hugely with COVID, and foreign companies have been fleeing China for the last 4 years, and have hollowed out 3/4 of their former manufacturing, and companies are still leaving. China's economy is in complete collapse, and they're trying to print their way out (printing money), which always proceeds a complete collapse. China lacks the natural resources that, for example, keeps Russia alive. And finally, China's demographic collapse means that the current generation is the last they will have that can field 2M conscripts for their military - in 10 years, there simply won't be enough young men to make up half that, because those men were never born. War is a young man's game, and they simply won't have enough, especially given that China follows Russia's war tactics of "meat grinder warfare" - throwing endless bodies at the enemy.

China has not participated in a real shooting war since the late 1970s - and they got their asses handed to them. No one, from general to private, has real-world war experience. The US has veterans at every level.

China has plenty of very smart people - their ability to manufacture things is excellent, for example - but corruption is everywhere, accountability is almost non-existent, and they spend far too much energy trying to steal information and too little trying to develop information, which means there are too many things they cannot do for themselves.

With their collapsing economy and demographics, China is NOT a super-power and will spend the next 60 years seeing China's influence fade from the world.

I have a hunch, that China's EV's turning into smokey fireballs is only a smaller sample of what it'll reflect to be China's mechanized military capabilities and aptitude.
I suppose that's what happens when Xi Jinping - like Putler - and his gang of cutthroats sacks in people's money, neglecting their own economy, development, investments and material quality in the process. Not to mention most likely the people's morale too, although Putler's forces still keep attacking Ukraine and not changing sides more.

The burning EVs are mostly due to using pouch batteries, which are more fragile and much more likely to catch fire. They are cheaper to manufacture but harder/more expensive to protect and cool properly, which is why so many fires.

Tesla, for example, uses cylindrical batteries which are far less likely to catch fire - you really have to physically damage the battery pack in order to have them catch fire. That CAN happen, but it's FAR more rare.

China doesn't sweat the little things like buildings burning down or people dying, so they keep using pouch batteries...

They almost got away with it but the new silk road fell apart. China was supposed to "give" developing nations for soft geopolitical power but they ran out of money and wanted pay backs. From there everyone said fuck you take everything back and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

So China is now trading with Russia isolated, north Korea isolated. Everyone else is ripping up their billing notes from China. For the Western world China is on thin ice playing too nice with Russia north Korea and drooling over Taiwan. It's fuck around and find out time now.

China's problem is that it doesn't have sufficient domestic economy so it has to rely on exporting and that makes it quite vulnerable.

We can see this in the tariffs being imposed on EVs from Europe, the US, Canada and elsewhere. It is a contradictory position to be aggressive to the US alliance structure but still expect to sell increasing amounts of shit to them. Just how plausible is that?

With China's demographic collapse their economy will more challenged. Most likely China will go into a Japan style stagflation.

It certainly isn't a superpower currently, when nuclear subs sink at a wharf.

It is not impossible that China will be back to the paddy fields as a result of their aggressive posture.
