My question is slightly provocative, it is obvious that I cannot predict the future, and that we do not know what the future will be made of.
I have the impression that many commentators, or "Specialists", marvel at what China has succeeded in accomplishing, and only see China's strong points, and only the weak points of the USA.
Far from me the idea to denigrate what China has succeeded in doing, it is true after all that it has managed to rise to the second rank in the world and when we see where China leaves it still deserves respect.
However I think that the weakness of China will prevent it from being able to reach the first world place.
After all, the USA is still the nation with the richest economy, with the most powerful army in the world, its currency is still the currency of international trade, and it is still the first technological power in the world. Not to mention the attraction of American culture.
I think that demography is going to be a real challenge for China, because it has an aging population, moreover China represents 20% of the world population, but it has only 10% of the arable land, therefore to be able to feed its population is also going to pose a real challenge to China.

Your assessment of China is far too kind. Much of China's reported GDP is fraudulent. Trusting China is like trusting Enron. The level of accounting fraud and corruption is astonishing. Their IP theft is even more insane. If you depend on other’s to innovate everything so that you can steal their technology, then you can never be a leader. Once there is no technology left to steal, you just stagnate and enter decline. Much of China's reported GDP growth is tied up in their shoddy construction of crumbling ghost cities made of papier-mâché. It's the biggest fraud in human history. They are not even close to being a world leader.
The Chinese people invest most of their savings in real estate. The CCP has defrauded their own population out of generations of wealth while wasting large amounts of natural resources just to present an image of growth to the world to draw in investment dollars in from suckers. They are destroying themselves to fuel a Ponzi scheme.
They do not have the energy reserves or natural resources to continue their con... This is why they push their belt and road initiative to colonize the third world and rob them of their resources. Ultimately this is what always happens with communism. You must continue to expand your borders in order to steal from and enslave new people. Eventually there is no one left to steal from and then everything collapses.
There is a lot of propaganda in the West that exaggerates China’s problems. They do have problems, and serious ones, but we also need to take into account the West’s severe demographic decline, cultural decline, and deindustrialization. Common Americans are suffering decreasing living standards and life expectancy. The small town Americans who made up the core of the military‘s fighting force (not it’s bloated administrative apparatus) are not enlisting in large numbers anymore, so there is a recruiting crisis. De-dollarization is accelerating and we are transitioning a multi-polar world. China will not be a global hegemon, but neither will the United States.

It pisses me off SO MUCH! It angers me how they are quite literally committing treason by helping prop up the super-economy of the world's greatest threat right now. China has had massive floods, flood shortages, rebellions and insurrections against the state, along with the pandemic THEY created, and they only survive due to idiots giving them money and betraying their own nations in doing so.
I also didn't even mention how the US has many internal problems too, including fuck-ups like Joe Biden and his masters intentionally destroying America and making the military woke, and trying to cause hyper-inflation in as short of time as possible. And all the internal fighting going on amongst Americans in this Culture War between the woke fascist left and everyone else (the right, center, and moderate left). But at the very least, the US has powerful allies. China has Russia, North Korea, and Saudi Arabia, if that, and Russia can't even win a war against Ukraine.
The Chinese military is a paper tiger, if there ever was one. Ironically, it was Sun Tsu in the Art of War that said "appear strong when you are weak, and appear weak when you are strong." The CCP is doing EVERYTHING to appear as strong as possible, even though their own people hate their government, hate them for forcing them to have abortions on girls for YEARS, hate them for forcing them to only have one child per household for YEARS, hate for all the clear propaganda that the Chinese have gotten used to ignoring by now, hate them for the censorship both locally and abroad with entertainment like Marvel movies and porn, and overall, have ZERO reason to fight for the CCP or their country.
To put in short words, Chinese morale is at an all time low and most Chinese citizens would WELCOME a full-blown invasion of foreign nations, then to die for the CCP in some pointless war against Taiwan that the rest of the world will also be fighting in. Most Westerns have no idea how the average Chinese citizen thinks, and they're about fed up with the CCP and are just waiting for the right time for a revolution. The CCP has "dishonored" so many Chinese homes and oppressed them (and the Uighur Muslims) for years now. They WILL be having a very hard fall, sometime soon.
Like I said, if not for the fucking jackasses in the Western corporate world, the CCP would not still exist at all, as 98% of their economy is completely dependent on imports, especially when it comes to oil and food. Hell, you could kill the entire country by blocking one point in the South China Sea, which is why they claim to own it all, so often.

The Chinese economy is imploding right now because it's been a big scam, and over a trillion dollars of value just evaporated in the last week. More banks will go bankrupt in the next 30 days, and more giant construction companies.
The lock downs are further damaging the economy, and they have polluted the hell out of their farmland, and they put massive growth hormones on everything, which has caused a big rise in birth defects.
They have a large military but they are unable to project power. Their navy is really only a coastal defense force.
It's been their manufacturing economy that has made them relevant, but they are squandering even that to maintain face - Xi's "zero COVID policy" cannot be rescinded without losing face, even as it costs billions when they can least afford it.

I think people don’t understand that China has a lot of challenges. 1. They will have tremendous population loss which will prevent them from rising due to cheap labor, they are trying to transition to a middle class economy but that will be a big challenge. 2. Nations like India still have a rising population at the moment so they are big computation. 3. As yet China is to dependent on leaching off the US so if our economy falls so does theirs.
However if China leads a sort of Eurasia alliance along with Russia India and Pakistan they will likely be the dominant power.
China is starting to suffer serious problems. Its completely dependent on the west. The strength of the Chinese economy depends on cheap manual labor with workers demanding more pay and the next wave of automation about to replace most manual jobs as well as competition from India and other Asian countries with a large workforce there's no way they are going to become the next world power.
My main point against China is, they have no values to rally behind. When you form a partnership, trade union, common currency etc. with e. g. the United States, South Korea or Germany, you know you will get democracy, the rule of law and every value that comes with it. Try that with China and at best you end up as a vassal state with one man in Beijing dictating your every move.
This is a thoughtful question. Mainland China's weaknesses could indeed bring it down or at least keep it from becoming the world's dominant power (fortunately for them, the US is doing everything it can to damage itself and help China). It's corrupt, has a terribly oppressive, censorship-infatuated government, and its financial system is creaky and full of shadow debt.
Not to mention a cascading financial failure system and no hope of economic advancement for anybody who isn’t in the party. Their people are starting to get a taste of what a middle class looks likes and realizing that communism is not in nearly everyone in China’s best interests except the ruling elite. Once they unshackle themselves from communism, that’s when I will start to worry.

Agreed. Americans are used to being number 1. We've pretty much led the way since ww2. And so I think people fear the rise of China. But China has far too many internal problems to match the United either economically or militarily.
Now granted this Can change. Every empire in history has fallen. Why would America be any different? But it's most likely NOT going to happen in my lifetime.

That's false and a myth. China has more soldiers than the US due to population, but their actual military is nowhere near the size of the US'. And India's is so small, they're not even worth mentioning.
