How to I break up with a clueless guy without seeming like a complete bitch?

^^^questions up there^^^ for a LITTLE background information the guy is a great guy; however, he is 30 years old and still acts like a teenage boy he gets "butt hurt" over the smallest things not to mention that he is an alcoholic and I'm trying to raise my nephew who was abandoned by his drug addict mother something neither of us need in our lives he is also VERY VERY VERY co-dependent so how do I tell him its over without it becoming a HUGE fight or seeming like a heartless bitch? (yes I've TRIED to talk to him about all this and he gets all "butt hurt" like I'm telling him he's worthless or something)

tell him that you just can,t take his drinking no more you have think of the boy you trying to raze and he net to grow up and get so help for his drinking trouble you have to make him understand that it over and he need to move on because you are going to move and raze your nephew and you don,t what the boy to be around him with his drinking troubles so what if he get all butt in a bunch and if he is that co-dependent you need to take a look at his life and see what he is doing to you and him self with all his drinking all the time and if you have to come off as a bitch so what do what best for you and to hell with how he going to fill about it you have to do what best for you and your nephew and not him and by letting this go on you are not doing you both no good

no I'm not co-dependent I don't feel that its necessary to tear someone down if it can be avoided there's enough heart ache and challenges in this world without adding to it for simplicity's sake.

From what you say he does seem like a total worthless jerk... if you are staying together then ii don't know but if you aren't staying together just tell him its over via a phone or something... and if he asks to clarify... do so... (sometimes becoming a villian isn't such a bad thing)

I had considered doing just that but it seems like a bit of a coward move to me I personally think that unless there is a reason to fear that someone will physically hurt you they deserve to hear it face to face not through email or over the phone. in fact I'm going to see him tomorrow specifically to tell him its not working
