As an American, I want the best Healthcare system in the world!!!

The problem is we have a heavily regulated healthcare system designed to get the most expensive option possible. Most of the operations you have done in a hospital can easily be done in a much smaller clinic that doesn’t have the overhead a hospital does costing the patient 500% more than it needs to. Simply making healthcare “free” will only increase taxes on everything and cause shortages and rationing since the demand will be unlimited. Nations in Europe that have “free” healthcare while paying thousands in taxes on everything else. The study does not factor how much of the healthcare expenses are paid through taxes because it’s lumped together with all the other government spending.

@goaded Regulations always cost money. Regulations require more effort and energy and, therefore, more cost. Politicians will say that the insurance companies will bear the cost but they always pass the cost to the customer, like any other business that pays taxes.

Regulation, when enforced, can save the taxpayers huge amounts of money.

@goaded Ugh. That only assumes honest reporting. Government agencies game the system all the time and they are rewarded by fellow bureaucrats for getting more funding. If the GAO is receiving funding for finding money to return, then you are literally paying money to try to return what was unspent. This is an incredibly inefficient way to save money. It would be like having to pay to get a tax refund before you receive it.

No but not because health care is useless. America always has to be number 1 but what makes you so important? America is one unhealthy nation if they are going to kill themselves with junk food expect an overwhelmed healthcare system. Simples

Of course it should be best, but generally, Republicans are too selfish. They don't want a nationwide system of healthcare, paid out of taxes, and otherwise free to all when needed. Sadly, many Democrats are the same.

I think the pharmaceutical industry is to blame for the U. S.'s outrageously expensive healthcare system.
It should be like a free market, right? But we know it's not.
