Health system in the US?

I would just like to know how many people or percentage in the US since Barak Obama have health insurance, and furthermore, how it works, what are the costs for one individual etc

Obamacare is subsidized healthcare offered to those who otherwise could not afford it. The cut off earning for an individual is $54,000 per year. Notice that I said EARNINGS. people incomes well above that have found ways to get subsidized insurance at attractive rates. Numbers I've seen show that about 14% of Americans are enrolled in Obamacare health plans.

For m Americans, most employers pay for employee healthcare. In truth, rather than giving you the eta $$$ in your paycheck, they use the money you'd otherwise receive in wages to pay your health insurance for you. Americans love this concept. What you pay per month depends on what type and how much coverage you need. When I retired, my employer continues to pay for my health insurance, which currently costs just under $700 per month. Understand that this is top tier coverage where I select my own doctor and double the cost of a Health Maintenace Organization (HMO) policy where the HMO assigns you to a doctor.

Virtually every working American contributes (not voluntarily) 1.45% of their earnings to a national insurance program commonly called Medicare. This national medical insurance becomes active at age 65. It is decent coverage, but most people pay for extra supplements for better coverage. If you prefer to retain your private health insurance at age 65, you are free to do so.

I hope that this brief overview of a very complex subject helped you understand American healthcare a little better. Why do we do it this way? Because this is America- which is a catchall phrase for anything we do differently in this country.

Basically what I observed with Obama Care is tons of people got fired from their jobs because they became too expensive to justify keeping them in the company with mandated health insurance. A lot of small companies shrunk in size. A lot of automation occurred. For jobs that could not be automated, people that were willing to work as independent contractors were more favored for positions. Average Americans were more heavily taxed as a result. They not only were forced into purchasing a commercial product they did not need or want via the law with an unconstitutional tax penalty. By adding more positions where people were independent contractors, the workers became more heavily burdens with medicare contributions and social security payments. This made average Americans more poor. Instead of paying 6.2% social security, all the sudden they had to pay 12.4% because there was no employer contribution when working as an independent contractor. Instead of paying 1.45% for medicare all the sudden they were paying 2.9%. When the penalty was lifted at least they got away from the crony capitalism robbery that Obama set up for his insurance friends, but at the end of the day a lot of jobs just went away and will never come back.

Unemployment under Obama reached 9.8% which are close to Great Depression era numbers which hovered at approximately 10%. Obama was horrible for America and his policies really hurt the people.

It didn't just impact small business. It also hit low wage workers hard... It shouldn't be any surprise that when Obamacare passed in 2010 with the penalty, effective January 1, 2014 that major companies like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. all started to trial automated checkout in 2013 and then shit canned tons of staff just before the deadline. The poorest people got hit the hardest by Obama's reign of terror.

I am pretty fortunate that my employer pays the entirety of our insurance cost premium. We do have co-pays and such, but I think for our family plan it’s 23 grand a year. Pretty sure it’s a $5000 deductible and our co-pays might be $35-$50 for a medication and routine doctor visits. We really haven’t used it beyond dr. visits. It certainly helped with child birth costs back in those days.

It was a money-making pyramid scheme where you feed from the bottom up. Like my grandparents and great grandparents collected Green Stamps. It is gouging the poorest of the poor with complete disregard.

It's a business. I was in hospital in the USA, spent 4 hours, and then I was sent home. A few weeks later, I was sent a bill for $38,000.

3 years later I had the same surgery again in Australia and the bill was $0.

This is I guess, a consequence of the sueing habit overthere. I am really sorry for you. I know the systems in Austria and Germany a bit, and there as an emploee, you pay half of insurance, the other half pays the entrepenour, also the retirement fees. Even if you are the lowest income class, you can also make your living, in case you are unable to work, or out of work, the state provides vor you but also helps you to get some income again quick...
