Socialism was a reality already. The institutional elites wanted to demonize labour unions and calls them communists. That’s why democrats got their voter base post integration. Other parties became targets for liberal demonization and so they consolidated to the democrat party since republicans were pro segregation during the civil rights era.
Honestly we don’t even live in a free market. Government subsidies and corporate welfare is a way bigger burden than social security and food stamps.
The top 1% own 50% of Americans wealth$.
The top 10% own 80+ Percent ir the wealth in America.
Socialism is just an attempt to solve the income inequality that spawned from letting capitalists, industrialists, and corporations to shape our policies and influence the government.
Since the 1970’s the wealth gap only got worse.
Trickle down economics did not work, even though Milton Friedman won a Nobel peace prize for it. He believe that the rich should focus on getting more rich and getting rich should be everyone’s motivations. But once wealth is so unequally distributed that America families go hungry or communities lack opportunities or health as a Direct result of elitists actions, then the system needs a reset because we already messed up but our “leaders” keep denying it. Hence our debt ceiling issue. Politicians don’t like looking bad so it hasn’t been raised, and our poverty line hasn’t been raised because no president wants to confirm that yes our poor are getting poorer.
The problem is lack of accountability for corporations, governments (police), and the elites.
Rome did not fall for being too big.
Rome fell for being too big to regulate itself.
Too big to stop the elites from feudal war with each other. That’s why there were wealthy families and servant family in Europe, monarchies rose in the Middle Ages from the ashes of the already existing divides of have and have nots.
TlDr; socialism is not a problem. It’s another scapegoat to distract us from the wealth gap problem.

If I wished to reject Socialism I would have to refuse my Social Security, my Medicare, stay off those socialist roads, denounce those socialist unions I once belonged to. I'd have to demand that children as young as 6 be put to work in factories again, and everyone would have to work 16 hour days, 7 days a week without lunch or breaks of any kind.
Remember, we're not the Soviet Socialist Republic. It may sound free but it was and is one of the most repressive forms of government ever invented. It and the NAZI party are one and the same.
NAZI means National Socialism. It had absolutely nothing to do with a Socialist regime nor freedom.Celebrate. Because only a lunatic could argue that the past 40 years of Reaganite BS - with the highest wealth disparity in the history of any country in the history of humanity - is anything but a total and complete failure.
Here's the thing. It's really easy to be an advocate for socialism when the economy is going well. However, when the shortages and shit hits the fan with inflation, people are going to start feeling pain at stores and the gas pump. At that point, most people's political views will shift and they will demand less socialism.
First i have to know what it is. Everyone seems to have their own definition of socialism and half the definitions contradict each other.
Keep cheering on entropy. I honestly don't see why I even stopped doing to in a attempting to get in involved in social and political issues.
We didn't guard our schools. And paid the price. This beast is already upon us.
We’re already basically just printing money to pay for things, which is what socialism eventually devolves into. We’re skipping all the advantages of socialism and going straight to late stage with turns into authoritarianism.
I'm going to pack up my shit and live in the middle of nowhere. I'll watch from afar while the rest of society collapses into a totalitarian hellhole.
Both Europe and the USA are so socialist they could not go further with that without becoming totalitarian communist (which is the worst imperial capitalist, in fact, that there is).
i would have no choice but to resort to righteous terrorism. im not running away. there is nowhere to go if america falls
Squeaky wheels get the most grease, but are representative of a majority. Those that cite "gaining popularity" are part of the squeak.
Thank the modern Democrats for that. What can be done? STOP VOTING DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS INTO OFFICE! Duh!
No, it's not. It's being pushed on everyone.
If it takes hold in America, I will gather fellow veterans, friends, and family and take back our country the old-fashioned way. Violently. We will be in a dictatorship. That is what socialism always is.
Hope it becomes more popular so those who support it suffer from it
