I don’t like the smell of it, their entire garage smells like it.

It’s like anything else, it depends on your relationship with it. I’d say that, of the common “drugs”, including alcohol, I’d contend it affects the user the least, in terms of intoxication. Smoking anything isn’t super healthy, so there’s that, but it’s 100% where I live, and it’s very easy to find other methods of consumption, like edibles or topicals.
Marijuana has been demonized in America because black and Chicano people liked it back in the day, and then the Nixon campaign and ensuing administration during the late 60s/early 70s further vilified and criminalized it, along with heroin, as a means of targeting black activism and peace activism groups, to eliminate political dissension and to negatively portray these groups to white Americans. Like dude Legit admitted to it, lmao, it’s crazy.

Whoops….*it’s 100% legal where I live
There are only a FEW things that are inherently bad to use: Don't cook with high fat coconut oil, or shoot up heroin. Everything else is about MODERATION.
If cigarette smokers used 3 to 5 cigarettes a day, nobody would get lung cancer. But that's not how they use cigarettes. How MUCH are your relatives using? Are they stoned all day long? Then they're ABUSING pot.
And pot has side effects that aren't healthy either: It is harsh on the lungs, worse than cigarettes if you're smoking all day. It kills any kind of drive to do anything OTHER than smoke pot. You'll sleepily stumble through life with NO ambition. In men it causes swollen breasts from excessive use because it affects hormone levels. You also eat too much junk food and don't think you're going to keep exercising because you're tired and dopey all the time. So, you turn into a lazy slob.
Now MEDICAL marijuana is supposed to give you the positive affects without the high. Less jitteryness from ADHD and NO SMOKE. Also no lung irritation. Urge your relatives to get medical marijuana. Much safer and better for them.
Otherwise, get legal ADHD drugs and lay off the pot if it's illegal where they live. No point in getting into trouble.
It really depends. For some people it improves their quality of life, for others it makes it worse and for some it's a gateway drug. Most people with ADHD take medication that contain a stronger, more dangerous substance than in Marijuana. But the difference is that they're under supervision and in my country they even get blood tested. I have friends that smoke almost everyday and are very successful in life and well functioning. And then my ex, it completely ruined him and he started doing harder drugs like cocaine and opioids. My most recent ex was smoking a couple of times a week during quarantine and it made him very lazy and unmotivated (which was fine since we were in quarantine), but on normal occasions that wouldn't have been ok. So I would say it's bad for some, good for others. But when it gets bad, it gets really bad. So is it worth the risk? by the way I feel the same way about alcohol. Alcohol is worse than marijuana, but the thing with alcohol is that you drink among others, openly, so you're more conscious about the social norms when it comes to drinking and then it's easier for people to intervene when/if you go too far.
Since it occurs naturally it is not out of the question that THC would evolve into an essential vitamin for people with a certian physiological makeup. I dont really know anything about marijuana as medicine and don't get a ton of time to use it recreationally, myself, but it's not addictive in the classic sense. And that's a pretty major obstacle for a coping mechanism. Addictive drugs have ruined a lot of lives by turning addicts into vicious uncaring creatures of desperation. Songs have been written about it (Master of Puppets by Metallica, Sober by Tool, and various songs by Ministry come to mind). If someone is satisfied with marijuana that could be taken as an enormous relief.
But, because its not addictive, it is reasonable to expect those who use it to have some self control. I do think there is a point where it becomes excessive and if kids can reliably smell it then that's a good litmus test for having passed that point. Edibles are perfectly adequate for medicinal use, although in states where it is still illegal they might be a bit harder to come by.

It’s not bad, the reason why it was considered bad is due to William Randolph Hearst was heavily invested in the timber business and hemp was found to be able to be used for fuel and the fibers were used to make rope and paper which would have killed the oil industry and the timber industry sense you would not longer to need to use trees for paper. so Hearst who owned the largest newspaper in the United States decided to go after marijuana using black peoples and Latino people has an excuse and said that it’s caused them to be violent (which It did not) but this smear campaign ended up convincing Congress to and legalize any form of the hemp plant with THC content above.3% in order to kill the hemp industry and save the timber industry and oil industry of course this law included marijuana which I Spanish means wild tobacco.
so marijuana isn’t bad for your health, hemp is bad for the timber and oil industry but that’s it.
hemp and marijuana are in the same plant family hemp just has a lot less THC. Also I’ve grow more then 3,000 plants a year for the state of Washington and provide jobs for my neighbors and people in the local area
One of the biggest issues with Marijuana is if it is taken before the age of 25, it will hinder brain development and can cause laziness and issues with brain activities used when driving a car; this is irreversible if taken before this age. If you plan on going to college stay away from it, staying away will make your studies much easier. Marijuana smoke can easily be inhaled at high levels from being too close to someone smoking it.
Marijuana is a great pain reliever. They can take the Psychoactive ingredients out of it to form CBD.
Its fine without the THC, the THC in marijuana is a gateway drug that opens the mind to using other drugs. So this is how marijuana is called the gateway drug.
Marijuana gives people cravings to overeating. It is safest when used in liquid form. The smoking part is hazardous to everyones health, liquid or pill form has many amazing medical uses.
The CBD formulation is one of the best drugs for seizures with the least side effects.
I get that some stoners go to far in their claims that weed is not addictive at all or that it's some sort of "cure-all" miracle drug, but that doesn't change the fact that in comparison to most substances - even most legal ones - it's comparatively harmless. I've tried weed twice (and I live in a country where it's completely illegal) and I can genuinely say that not only is the high you get so much better than what you get from alcohol or nicotine but you barely get any form of "I-really-need-to-do-this-again-right-now"-feeling like you get with alcohol.
Are there risks? Definitely. Is weed addictive? Well... yes, it can be, but it definitely isn't at the level of nicotine. Seriously, I'm a nicotine addict and I've been trying to quit for over a year now, and if nicotine is considered safe enough to be legal then Marijuana should without a doubt be too.
Nicotine is the fucking devil. I'm serious about this. Kids, if someone offers you a cigarette, just say no! It's so not worth it! The high is barely a high in the first place, it will completely shatter your wallet, you won't notice the addiction quickly creeping up on you, and trying to quit will be the biggest challenge of your life! Seriously, stay the fuck away from nicotine!
I am allergic to pollen, so my use or even those of others in the vicinity, causes me rhinitis.
We must distinguish between the practices, the casual smoker and the continuous smoker.
If smoked randomly and not with high doses of THC there are no relevant effects, on the contrary with high doses of THC you can have hallucinations, delusions and psychosis. For comparison, it is similar to whether you drink a liter of beer or a liter of vodka.
Continued consumption of cannabis can damage the ability to coordinate movements, attention, learning ability, memory and reaction time. This also occurs in adults but is much more evident and long-lasting if the consumption began during adolescence, when the brain is still developing.
Substance abuse is also associated with the appearance of psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts in adolescents or typical disorders of schizophrenia (such as hallucinations and detachment from reality). Cannabis poisoning leads to an increased risk of schizophrenia.
These disorders can be transient, but cannabis can worsen the course of a mental illness or anticipate its onset in already predisposed people. If cannabis was used continuously during adolescence, mental disorders can manifest themselves years later.
I can't help you with the smell; but you could just stay away from the garage?
Ganja indeed has a calming effect.
Cannabis (the plant) has a number of positive medical effects. So it's not smart to condemn it generally.
To only smoke it is quite a waste, though.
You can make oils from it, or use the leaves for making ''tea'' (it can be combined with ginger or ginseng, too).
Ganja is not bad in itself; it just was given an illegal context and that's why Mom isn't happy, I think.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with marijuana! And I absolutely love the smell of weed! Personally I don't smoke it as much as I used to. (Which was literally everyday on the hour). I stopped because it got expensive and felt like a Hassel tonstartbthe process. Also it started affecting my work so I made a mature choice to give it up. I will still smoke everyone in a while but that's my choice and I don't smoke like I did before.
Your mom probably sounds prudish and and very strict. She doesn't seem educated enough on the benefits of Marijuana which is why she is against. Probably a Karen that thinks if the government says it bad then it's bad without doing her own research.
Tbh weed does not help adhd. Weed gives you symptoms of adhd. Weed also does not help anxiety long term. It curves the symptoms of anxiety but you need to keep smoking over and over again to suppress anxiety. Weed can also cause anxiety also. I stopped smoking because it actually made my anxiety way worse to the point where I would walk into work and my head your be completely spinning in anxiety
Would be**
Another thing: weed can be laced with harder drugs which can result in death. Happened to my friends dad niece. He is dead due to his weed being laced.
It depends on the strain. Some make you feel lethargic, but others can make you feel focused and energetic.
@Kingofkings1992 we can agree to disagree. Weed makes you dependent on it which is the worst part of it
There have been countless studies on marijuana over the years and no, marijuana is not bad for you. At least in the long-term. In the short term, while high, your decision-making abilities and memory are impaired, and your reaction time is slowed. However, there are no long-term effects of using marijuana. Marijuana is also not addictive.
So long as you are over the age of 21, when your brain is fully developed, there really is no downside to using marijuana recreationally, so long as you do so responsibly.
What's bad about it? The fact it's illegal?
People seem to think of anything that's illegal automatically think "oh it must be bad" , without thinking why
Jus cos it's illegal doesn't mean it's bad.. it's least harmful drug.. all it does is make you feel good and help you think more creativly and increases social uhh... Makes you talkatives... it also helps with depression.. people. only think its bad cos it can destroy a few braincells... But so what? There's stupid people in the world? Why don't they go to jail for being dumb? I don't see how making a choice to make yourself more dumb should be illegal... People should have a choice to be as dumb as they want. Or else we should give people with below 100 iq prison sentences.. but that's ridiculous
It's a natural world and a natural plant you can find and take... Back when we was caveman imaging a caveman taking this plant.. and then a prison officer comes to arrest him?
You see how. stupid that sounds?,
We are animals after all so we should. have freedom. in. this natural world to eat a natural plant... Maybe god put this plant here to help humans who suffer from. boredom. and depression
Yet stupid man kind decided to make it illegal and punish you by putting you in a cell.. stupid
Not that bad, it just has a bad social stigma associated with it that typically drives certain individuals away. It's not bad if you smoke at home for like anxiety or whatever, just don't be an A-Hole about it and we're good.
I kinda agree though, the smell of weed is horrible.
If they can afford it why tell another man how to live his life. You may need his help one day so it makes no logical sense. Stay yo ass at home if you dont like the smell. Dont blame them for doing what they love JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE UNCOMFORTABLE. FOH
It depends. If you can't hold a job and support yourself while using it then it is a disaster. If you can lead a successful life and use it occasionally, it's probably fine. I've never had a real desire to try it, to be honest. Seems like a waste of $$$. But if I ever end up in chronic pain or something I can't predict, I might chew a pot gummy bear and see what happens. :)
Yes and no.
Its not good, but compared to other drugs its quite harmless, even both alcohol and cigarretes are much more dangerous.
But its not completely harmless either, espacially in teenage years the drug can have great negative effects on the development of the brain, and sometimes may even trigger psychological problems.
Smoking it once a week is no big deal, but you have to watch out to not get addicted.
And offcourse there are many medicinal types of usage, weed can indeed help with things like chronic pain, parkinson, and other deseases, but everyone reacts differently and you can't say marijuana is a wonderdrug helping everyone.
But every other "traditional" medicine also has its sideeffects and may cause addictions.
To each their own on personal decisions. For me it’s the only thing that eases my intense migraines without horrible side effects or allergic reactions. I don’t smoke it though, so it bothers nobody. For me and others who need it legitimately, medically, it is a positive. A necessity.
"Good" and "bad" are relative terms usually based on someone's perception or opinion, not facts.
I personally see no reason to use any external drug to make me feel better and improve my quality of life. If people want to do that, they MUST accept all responsibilities that may result. If they don't, then that is BAD.
Of course not. But yes you can create problems with it if you're doing it wrong. Just like is driving a car bad? No of course it's not, but you can get killed by driving a car... But it doesn't mean it's inherently a bad thing.
It’s not good for the lungs and has a negative effect on memory but THC does have legitimate medical uses. As far as it being beneficial for ADHD, that’s under dispute. Some people believe it helps them but many experts believe it makes the symptoms worse. In fairness, it’s probably no worse than alcohol. The illegal status kind of colors people’s opinion of it.
I don't use it but the only time i ever see it being bad for ya, is when ya do it too much.
I don't know if it goes together or not but the ones who over do it.
They brains be fried af.
Take a look at the people who smoke weed and ask yourself if they have accomplished what you want out of life. There is your answer
Elon Musk smokes weed. Same as NFL and NBA players. Did you know that Steve Jobs smoked weed when he was alive?
@NorthwestRider Not everyone smokes weed the same way but if you look at it in the aggregate it is a demotivator and generally lessens a person's chances for success. NFL/NBA players are paid for physical skill, not cognitive skills so it is not a good example for you to make
They make much more money than most people
@NorthwestRider NFL/NBA players are paid for physical skill, not cognitive skills
Drugs are bad. But some can help people with pain management, or mental illnesses and it can be ok in small amounts. I don't like people who use the excuse of pot being natural, many drugs are natural.
I feel its very bad. drugs are not the answer and usually create much bigger problems! just because someone else does something doesn't mean its good or right for you!
So I've been clean since August 27th, 2021 and I'm officially clean and drug testable (unless it's a hair follicle test).
I've got to say it's not bad but when you've stopped smoking life is definitely more boring. I used to smoke every night and it would help me do my homework, make food taste better and shows slightly more interesting. Now that I'm not smoking I notice the difference and honestly I'm bored AF.
it has pros and cons. good and bad. a little here and there sure. think of it like eating fat food all the time.
excessive use is not good for your lungs and brain. I smoke a little here and there and enjoy it's calming properties. too much THC in the form of edibles can be a horrible experience.
my advice, try a little, if you like it enjoy it here and there. make your own mind up about it.
I hate the smell of it too, it is just awful. I think it’s bad if you ever overdo using it. I've only ever had weed in sweets and even that was a lot. It's not a hobby I care to take up, and I really hate the smell of it, it's super offensive.
It can be habit forming, but the same is true of cheeseburgers. I've never heard of pot helping with ADHD. I think its fine on occasion. Not healthy, but again, nothing much is that you can enjoy. No physical addiction, that's a plus.
I recently quit smoking Marijuana, because smoke in the lungs is just gonna kill me, they should consume it through the stomach tho as it's the healthiest way to consume marijuana
Everyone i know who smoked MJ became slow, anyone i know who smoked potent MJ became retarded & in todays studies people believe it has caused them to go skits. It's just another medicine people abused.
Then how come I knew so many med students who smoked and became MDs and CDs
@Subarugirl daddy's money talks
Weather their parents paid for their school or not, you don’t just get a medical degree if you’re an idiot.
@Subarugirl have you not seen western Dr's today biggest idiots, tons of lawsuits look it up.
Do you know how intelligent you have to be to get a medical degree? According to the US Census Bureau, only 1.2% of the US population has a PhD.
Also Surprisingly, the risk of being sued for medical malpractice has little to do with how many mistakes a doctor makes. Despite protests from doctors that malpractice lawsuits are born of greedy patients and their even greedier lawyers, analyses of malpractice suits actually show that highly skilled doctors can get sued a lot.
ethicalnag.org/2010/10/15/why-doctors-get-sued/
@Subarugirl you can sue under personal injury not just malpractice and tons of cases are settled out of court. If your parents are rich you really don't need a brain to do anything or get a PHD it's handed to you. Anyways Marijuana makes people stupid & if you don't smoke yourself, why are you using a 1.2 percent of people as your argument. That means you know only one Dr who smoked weed. But you said earlier you knew "so many" MJ is a gateway drug, Most people do hardcore drugs because of it & there is a huge case study recently it causes skits. I enjoy my brain.
www.health.harvard.edu/.../teens-who-smoke-pot-at-risk-for-later-schizophrenia-psychosis-201103071676
Actually my husband is a doctor and had many friends i knew in med school that I know smoked weed.
@Subarugirl so how many of them actually became drs? And they're probably slower then most i would not trust anyone with a PHD who smokes weed to take care of my health. I grew up with tons of potheads and when we were young they were fast as we got older they got slower, how is this proving anything. You're using small percentages of people against the vast majority and against medical case studies of people losing their mind due to Marijuana & everyone i ever met who smoked weed is slow or retarded with a mental illness or got into deeper drugs. If you don't smoke and your husband doesn't smoke and you can't fully observe a persons actions because you're barely around them and your using a small percentage group of people versus a whole. Those people i seen and been around are the very reason i don't and would never try weed and it was always infront of me all through middle school and highschool but due to what i noticed i like my brain the way it is.
How would you know lol
@Subarugirl know what?
the smell is an acquired taste. I dont smoke but have dabbled a few times in my life when i was younger. its morally gray and they aren't doing harm to anyone. i believe in letting people do what they want if they aren't harming others.
Its harmful to your central nervous system as it reduces your mind control over body.
What a load of crap.
"Drugs are bad, m'kay?"
Nah it's way more healthy than Tabaco and alcohol which are somehow fine in society so weed not been is called people been hypocrites.
Limited use is fine , I use limited amounts ganja only at nighttime prior to bed , for pain control and assisting sleep. However , spending all day stoned would get you nowhere fast. Plus caning it will wreck your lungs , if it is smoked.
Marianas is a highly potent drug with well established mind altering and addictive capabilities; smoking it is a form of abuse of the drug and dangerous to health.
Marijuana*
it is. it screws with your mind like any other drug. https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/marijuana
I have softened my opinion of it over the years. I actually tried it a few times. It really was not as much fun as everyone says but I don't think it did me any harm.
I live in Thailand just becoming legal here but can’t roll or smoke them. Just need to use them as oil or the leaf. Which I do.
I eat their leaves
Yes, it smells absolutely terrible.
Is living your life smelling like a permanent fart bad?
I don't have any problem with it after age 25. That is when your brain is fully developed.
While it's technically legal in some places at 18, it's not the best choice for your longterm health.
No. What bad is methamphetamine. But medical meth has always been legal.
I think it does awful things to your sense of judgement but I don't think it should be illegal. If they want to dig themselves into a hole with the stupid decisions they make while on it, that's their problem.
It's not inherently bad. But breaking the law is, even if it's a bullshit law that you don't agree with. Just like disrespecting your mothers wishes is bad, even if you don't agree with her.
i hate the smell and dont wanna date anyone else who does it. My HS boyfriend was enough
a lot of rich people such as Elon Musk, NFL players and NBA players smoke weed. Steve Jobs smoked it when he was alive
I do not think Marijuana is terrible
Well in small dose's and with certain chemicals everything can be made to be good, but like with everything in this world, to much of something is usually bad
Anything done to excess is bad. Humans have been altering their consciousness since humans began. It’s a normal part of society.
@doopayo the only way they would be addicted to nicotine is if they are using tobacco based products to smoke the weed.
Multiple times every day is not good. They’re wasting their lives away.
@joedalton true. Weed makes you absolutely useless
Nope. My girl smokes daily. I just don't want my house smelling like it
As with most things, it depends on how frequently and how much of it you use.
Yeah, that's not necessarily good.
I would say no. But here is the rub, overusing it is bad. Just like anything. It's definitely safer than alcohol.
Natural weed isn't bad. But people who add certain chemicals can do some serious damage to a person's brain.
Over use is but just using it in general isn’t bad, if you are using it as much as snoop dogg however 😂 you have a problem
If it’s so good and natural why don’t you let your toddler reap its rewards
I mean…. would you give other drugs like alcohol to a toddler? I don’t think anyone is suggesting it for children, we’re talking about grown adults.
@WhiteSteve I’ve made my argument
Its yet another sedative for people with discomfortable lives. They can chalk it up to adhd, migraines, or whatever. They're just using it for the high. There are other things for adhd and migraines
It’s not bad for you in fact there is no proof that it will ever cause cancer if anything it probably keeps you from getting it but I do hate the smell also and I don’t do it because of my job
Its the safest of all the mind altering drugs. If you do it for years every day you can become addicted and will have to ween down carefully. Safer than alc or cigs by a lot tho
It smells bad, but it's not nearly as bad or unhealthy as alcohol or tobacco.
If over used it's bad for your health just like any other drugs/substance.
I don't want anything that distorts clear thinking.
if you use it a lot yes, like more than a couple times a week.
Nah, I use it occasionally and it's great for my back pain
I have done it I don’t know why people do it. It just makes me sleepy
