9 moThis probably not what you want to hear but I believe any drug that clouds the brain and dulls reality makes you stupid and unhealthy and poorer over the long term. Some just wear on you faster than others. Some are more addictive than others. Some will kill you faster than others. Some are more socially acceptable than others.
Take your pick...
- Pot
- Alcohol
- Tobacco / nicotine
- Cocaine
- Heroin
- Methamphetamine
- Synthetic opioids
- LSD / acid
Recreational use is all essentially aimed at avoiding reality. Avoiding reality is NOT generally a great idea if you are trying to gain knowledge and achieve things in life that will improve your financial stability or wealth. It's also generally not great for building strong relationships over the long term or your physical and mental health.
Like I said, probably not what you wanted to hear. But it's the truth.

9 moIt’s been proven that it does lower IQ, and I’m not talking about when your smoking because that’s obvious, but your overall IQ when you’re not smoking or on anything else. It mostly depends on how much you smoke and how many years you smoke for. While it can affect your brain negatively at any time in life (no matter when you start) it is worse for people who start smoking it in high school, or college, because the brain doesn’t finish developing until your mid-20’s.
According to Google: “Long-term marijuana use can be directly associated with a decline in IQ that may not be fully recovered even after quitting.”

9 moThe drug has a certain range of effects, but long term users tend to adopt a certain lifestyle that is what actually makes them dumber. I guarantee i know stoners who will outsmart the vast majority of people who don’t understand the difference. I was one of them. It’s one of the reasons that i always preferred sativa to indica. I couldn’t get enough stimulation when i was under the influence. One of my favorite pastimes was reading on a treadmill. Keeping my mind and body stimulated was very satisfying.

9 moIt can be a long-term effect. For myself, I was a pothead for 3 years of my life. During those 3 years, I was high for a lot of that time. Since I've stopped smoking, I've got horrible memory. My attention is as if I was an ADHD person. And I really haven't gotten any smarter or any better at making decisions since highschool. Now, this might just be for me but others, I'm sure have had some of the same things happen to them.
I'm not against marijuana and I think everyone should try it at least once with someone who they trust (whether the trusted be sober or high).10 Reply- 410 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
9 moIt doesn't even make you temporarily stupid. It just temporarily distorts short term memory when you are high. Your IQ stays the same and you can still draw from long term memory to talk about subjects, you just might lose your train of thought.
10 Reply 12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Anything can make you stupid long term. Drinking excessive water can kill or retard you too.
The issue with narcotics is similar to alcohol and cigarettes - no one takes them "safely within limits".
One small glass of wine a day and a low tar cigar can have healthy benefits. But who the fuck has ever followed the guidance?
10 Reply2.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It makes you stupid while you're stoned. When it wears off, you're not stupid anymore. Eating edibles makes you stupid for a lot longer than smoking it. If you smoke it all day everyday, it might take a day or 2 after not smoking it to not be stupid.

I didn't really start until after 30. And I definitely agree with that. I am much more responsible with it now than if I had started in my teens or early 20s.

Yeah, this is pretty true but even if you start smoking it after your mid-20’s (after your brain is fully developed) it still slowly lowers your IQ, over time, if smoked frequently for many years (it may take decades). It affects people differently, as well. Some worse than others. For some it doesn’t do too much but for a lot of people it can.
But yeah, it’s definitely worse if people start when they’re younger, because it stunts brain development.

9 mono it doesn't make you stupid. but it most definitely destroys your brains reward system so you most liekely will end up less motivated and that may likely cause you to stop developing. also you may lose your short term memory. but i don't think it directly makes you stupid.

9 mono it just makes you slower but for most people if you stop for a while, then you'll eventually be normal again
ik from experience lol30 Reply 5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Nope. I've known people who were major pot heads who later went on to become college professors and VPs for major corporations. A lot of them still smoked on occasion.

9 moIt definitely impairs memory with long term use. No doubt. But I really don't see any evidence for other Long term brain impairment. HELLUVA lot safer than alcohol!!!

Too bad Society will always frown on that. It’s more socially accepted with alcohol. Sad but true
It does not. There is a way and limit to how you take it. People are killed by water poisoning. So, remember. too much of anything even things that are medicinal in small values is bad for health.

9 moNo, I don't believe that. The biggest danger with pot is that you will waste a ton of time. As long as you aren't smoking throughout the day, you should be good.
10 Reply 11.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Nope. My girls been smoking it habitually since she was 14. 16 or so years, and she's not stupid.

I personally like the second group. They are responsible so they can party and live life to the fullest under whatever life throws at them. Live for Tuesday not doomsday
The first group is very much like the loser stoner. Absent from day to day duties and responsibilities of the modern say real world.
I'm hoping this is a decent enough analogy. With with dooms day prepping and connecting with the real world.
