Because the system is broken and run by corrupt asshats, and no one complains enough about it to change things. The last time people complained, ten years ago, we got Occupy Wall Street co-opted by lunatics put there by the corporate scum to destroy the movement and the first SJW's (in modern times) became a thing.
And they've been sabotaging movements and doing Divide and Conquer tactics ever since. Whether it be Black Lives Matter and calling everything "racist" during Obama's second term, or pushing Fourth Wave Feminism and getting white men to commit suicide and publicly calling it "a success," or making people pretend to care about transgender issues, "pronouns," and non-binary horsecrap. The more they instigate all these BS issues, the less time and attention is focused on them. And the worst part is, most people are stupid enough to fall for these smokescreens and distractions.
The US is quite literally one of the least bigoted places on the planet (not counting SJW's, or some of the conservatives of GAG), and yet, just like Bezmenov predicted, they've gotten an entire generation of these low IQ retards, to hate themselves. Two if you count Zoomers among Millennials, although most Zoomers aren't quote as bad. Every time someone bitches about "racist" or "transphobia," they win as verbal fights and arguments break out and we destroy each other over nonsense.
On the chess board, manufactured outrage, social justice, and censorship are their Queen, Knights and Rooks, respectively. And the Queen piece on the side of free speech and anti-elitism, was taken off the board when they banned him off social media and torched Parlor for good measure.
In short: They allow the rich to get away with murder as we deal with retards complaining about racism and pronouns.
But many millionaires and billionaires get tax write-offs for doing a minimal amount of charity or some other method to get out of paying taxes. What about them?
Collectively, I believe, SOME of the upper middle class are paying higher taxes, like those earning $100,000 to $1,000,000 a year. But the super-rich often do not pay a dime in taxes. There's so many exploits for them to get out of paying taxes. And the moment anyone talks about them paying taxes, they threaten to move to Canada or China or something. They threaten their way out of paying taxes. Either way, they have the largest amount of money out of everyone anyway; why SHOULDN'T they hypothetically pay 40% of taxes, when they own 70-80% of the wealth?
This question is not about the poorest earners in the US. They can't pay taxes, because they eventually have no money to begin with. And while I don't think the highest earners should be bled dry, I do think exploits to get out of paying taxes, while they hoard money off shore or in bank accounts, is kinda messed up. Them being "job providers" (but not really; the corporation provides jobs, not the richest people at the top) isn't an excuse to get out of paying taxes.
I can tell you're an intelligent guy. If we're wrong, help us understand.
Oh good grief. The top 1% of income earners in the United States pay 40% of the taxes. The top 10% pay 60%. So while I cannot speak to Jeff Bezos, the overall tax burden in the United States is, by global standards, quite progressive.
Indeed, the American public likes to whine about its tax burden, but the truth is that almost half of all Americans pay no income tax - at all! Further, 1 in 6 who all Americans who work, for work for government. Thus, in effect, getting back their taxes in their salary.
Further, 1 in 7 is a Social Security recipient. A number destined to soar as the population ages. 1/3 of ALL families, this year, will receive some form of Federal government transfer payment.
The truth is that the American people have a voracious appetite for government. They just have a negligible willingness to pay for it and so they whine about how burdensome their taxes are and how unfair. Thus at the end of the day leaving those who get no vote - i. e. those generations yet to be born - to pay the bills in the form of deficits and debt. A debt whose proportionate burden will only grow - again - as the population ages.
Bottom line, "we" are not paying more taxes than Jeff Bezos, Indeed, if - and it is a big "IF" - Mr. Bezos is not paying any taxes then, at worst, he is not paying any more taxes than nearly half the population. A fact that is not likely to get much play since there is nothing the American public enjoys more than whinny self-pity and demanding that it get something for nothing.
But many millionaires and billionaires get tax write-offs for doing a minimal amount of charity or some other method to get out of paying taxes. What about them?

@MCheetah The loopholes and such that are in the tax code are there because the society had decided that they wish to incentivize and disincentivize certain behaviors. It is the tax code being used for social engineering - a process that goes back at least to Great Society and the New Deal.
To be sure, this is not a perfect process. The more things the public wants government to do, the more dependent it becomes on elites. Specifically those elements in society that can afford the lobbyists, lawyers and accountants to navigate the regulatory state.
It is a trade-off and an inevitable one. That said, the stats I provided above are the raw data. SOME of the wealthy may escape paying some taxes, but as the overall data show, the overwhelming majority do not.
Indeed, there is a price to be paid for that in lost productivity, employment opportunities and other such factors. Life is a trade-off - politics ditto, and the perfect is the enemy of the merely good.
@MCheetah There are different forms of taxes. Bezos' wealth comes from the shares he owns of Amazon stock. When Bezos sells his stock, he pays roughly 30% capital gains tax. This recently happened: "According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bezos sold 522,000 Amazon shares worth $1.7 billion on Friday and Monday. After taxes, Bezos will take home $1.3 billion."https://www. forbes. com/sites/rachelsandler/2021/05/11/jeff-bezos-sells-third-batch-of-amazon-shares-in-a-week/? sh=31acc448792c
So he just payed $400 million in taxes.
Stop stealing my line "good grief". So I take it you are one of those who pays no taxes? But aren't you supposed to declare your unemployment benefits?
@NewtoTheSouth
I didn't know that. Thanks for informing me.
If Amazon pays a tax, it just gets costed out to the customers. The money is in value or stocks, it isn't in some Scrooge McDuck vault somewhere. It gets taxed just like you or I when that stock or asset is sold.
Every time government tries to tax the wealthy, the Republican Party mobilizes its followers to defeat it, even though it isn’t in their own best interests to do so.

I'm sure you have your theories on this, D - - - - -
The super-rich and even the plain old rich have consultants who will create ways to either shelter their income, form a funded NPO to "keep it" but be able to spend it on their pet causes, use other donations' methodology to reduce their tax load and increase their prestige, etc.
Just an aside, if I add my Fed income tax, State income tax, Medical tax, and my Property tax, they total between 47 and 51% of my household budget. That does NOT include sales taxes, utility taxes, etc. etc.
And double that by living in California and you are fucked.
not the good way, either!
Becuase nobody in this country cares enough to protest.
Also, we have been dupped into believing we we can all be billionaires someday - so many Americans who barley have a pot to piss in defend these ultra rich. Plus, politiciams in this country - both dems and rep- have been bought and paid for.
And Congressman ALWAYS retire as multi millionaires.
And yet many poor rural people think Trump would save them 😂
@NorthwestRider Yes, that is just pathetic.
He needs that $190 billion, do you want him to starve? That poor man has to um… like exist and collect that Amazon stock ya know!
Meanwhile if he lost 99.99% of his wealth, he’d still be wealthier than most Movie Stars, let alone normal Americans.
Don’t worry though, you misspay the IRS by $100, they’ll hunt you to the ends of the earth to get it from you
So you get it then. Bravo!
I just don’t understand people defending billionaires when they are just living a totally different life from us. They have the actual freedom people harp on over and over, and more wealth than any MILLION people need between them.
Billionaires actually pay way more taxes than the average person.
The myth that they pay less taxes started because as income level goes up, income tax percentage does not rise to meet it, but it does rise slightly, so people with higher incomes do pay slightly more income tax.
In my opinion though, income taxes shouldn't even be a thing for anyone.
Thats not the majority of it though. The rich are not exempt from sales tax or property tax, and since they spend more money on property and buy a lot more things, they are actually paying far more in taxes than the average person does, by a monumentally enourmous amount.
So I pay $2000 in property taxes, How much do they pay for all their holdings?
@daniela1982 it varies, but for the super rich, they usually pay more in taxes per year than you earn a year.
BULL SHIT!!
Not bullshit, look up property taxes on mansions in large cities, property taxes on stores and the plots they sit on, and then add to that the calculated expenses for starting and running businesses and put every associated tax for all of that.
When you own more things, when you buy more things, when what you own costed a fortune and is located in a pricey area, the taxes for it go up by a lot.
You are so full of shit!
NYC Mansion Tax Rates:
1% for purchases of $1,000,000 to $1,999,999
1.25% for purchase of $2,000,000 to $2,999,999
1.5% for purchases of $3,000,000 to $4,999,999
2.25% for purchases of $5,000,000 to $9,999,999
3.25% for purchases of $10,000,000 to $14,999,999
3.5% for purchases of $15,000,000 to $19,999,999
3.75% for purchases of $20,000,000 to $24,999,999
3.90% for purchases of $25,000,000 and above
So a person who owns a mansion that costed $25,000,000 is paying $6,410,256.41 in taxes (just on their house) per year. do you make $6,410,257 or more a year?
Sorry i did the math wrong on that, its actually $975,000 per year in taxes, but thats still a crazy high amount. Most people don't make 6 figure incomes.
The tax codes are written by rich people. You can’t expect them to pay taxes now, do you?
Plus when businesses reinvest their profits into the business. They can write off the improvements they make. They get clobbered when they or if they sell.
So yes. A private cooperate jet would be a write off!

So he just payed $400 million in taxes.
Well hell, I should be able to write off my car too as it is needed to get to work so it is a business expense.
So the working class are footing the bill for the rich. The poor are kept poor to scare the working class enough to keep them working. Also what is called capitalism has not been actual capitalism for many generations. Because old money rigged the game generations ago. Also both sides of the political isle end up doing their job in office keeping the game rigged.
Bezos simply has enough money and influence to buy a seat at the big table.
The rich pay something like 50 percent of all taxes. Yeah they make more but they take care of us all. I'm not against them paying even more taxes, but as a guy that makes good money i can tell you, around 200k this year, I'll take home roughly 60%. And I work at a job most people would never do because they don't wanna put in the blood hours i do. So in essence in a 12 month year I'm working almost the whole first 5 months for free.
Quote: there is an ignorant belief going around that if you took the money from the richest in the world and distributed evenly that all people's problems would be solved.
Here is the uncomfortable truth, that money would eventually end up right back in the pockets of the people you stole it from.
Thats the difference between having job cadh per hour vs owning jobs where you dont actually work so you dont have to pay tax if u dont work. They provide jobs to thousands of people, so in a way they provide bunch of money to goverment throught those workers. You pay their tax. So good worker you are.
Hmmm, that is how 90% of the illegals in California work. Under the table. So we make money in taxes off of illegal immigrants? I call hog wash!
I don't know what country u live in with immigrands doing all the work. But here in uk amazon warehouse for example are just regular people, and we ay taxes for our job here.
Well they haven't learned to swim across the ocean yet like they do across the Rio Grande. Give them time, they'll get there.
Men pay more taxes than Women, yet Women get more in benefits than Men.
Life is unfair, it is least unfair for women.
Jeff Bezos is paying millions in taxes, you aren't paying that much. Direct your attention to chrony-capitalism and Amazon (a growing Monopsony).
Sigh, first of all they are not earning a billion dollars every year.
Most of their wealth is in stocks and bonds, withdrawing all Jeff Bezos stocks in Amazon would bankrupt Amazon. They pay on yearly income like you do, likely millions if not hundreds of millions of dollars.
Amazon on the other hand routinely pays 0% in taxes.
No need to insult me, I did not insult you.
You insult my intelligence.
Because he takes advantage of tax breaks he is offered when he decides to build a facility. It is a common practice for governments to offer tax incentives and then complain to their constituents that the people they gave the tax break to are not paying taxes.
You don't know much about economics. Bezos' wealth comes from the shares he owns of Amazon stock. Another word for this is "paper wealth." When Bezos sells his stock, he pays roughly 30% capital gains tax. This recently happened: "According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bezos sold 522,000 Amazon shares worth $1.7 billion on Friday and Monday. After taxes, Bezos will take home $1.3 billion."https://www.forbes.com/sites/rachelsandler/2021/05/11/jeff-bezos-sells-third-batch-of-amazon-shares-in-a-week/?sh=31acc448792c
So he just payed $400 million in taxes.
Amazon is my other pet peeve as they pay practically nothing in taxes. Most of us will pay capital gains when selling stock or a house. If you won a Powerball jackpot of $1.7 Billion I guarantee you that you would be paying more than $400 million in taxes.
Jeff Bezos has probable wealth consisting of mostly financial assets. It’s not actual money he has. It just is that these assets are sufficiently liquid to become actual cash.
Depending on your country, financial assets are taxed, but usually quite limited
Our entire society works on that bullshit premise. Not just the super rich. The super rich are a symptom. Not the disease. Be careful to blame them for a system that we all use to survive. The more money you have the more you can invest in lawyers that help you play the system to pay less taxes. The problem is the idea of infinite economical growth and the stock market. Not the companies who make money playing that well.
Hate the game, but the player.
We’re not. He paid zero in federal income taxes. His organization pays billions in FICA for their employees including state and local taxes and tariffs. Any tax that Amazon pays, domestic and international, do essentially come out of Bezo’s net worth. I can almost guarantee that he had carried over a capital loss from 2-3 years ago on something he didn’t actually lose money on but those laws are ridiculous and nobody changes those laws.
Yeah, here you go: "According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bezos sold 522,000 Amazon shares worth $1.7 billion on Friday and Monday. After taxes, Bezos will take home $1.3 billion."https://www. forbes. com/sites/rachelsandler/2021/05/11/jeff-bezos-sells-third-batch-of-amazon-shares-in-a-week/? sh=31acc448792c
So he just payed $400 million in taxes.
@NewtoTheSouth And that is at the same capital gains rate that everyone else pays. Hmmm.
so this is probably fake news based on the fact the IRS can take years to determine how much a billionare should pay. so they can go a year deferred in payment. leading to such headlines as "rich guys pay NO TAXES THIS YEAR! when in reality... they pay the majority of all taxes"
that's not to say i like bezos
I think people don't understand the difference between net worth and having money. Also you can overpay on taxes. People said the same shit about Trump not paying taxes, but that was because he overpayed taxes. Stop making me defend filthy rich people.
So why are you then?
Because people don't know what they are talking about.
Because the tax laws are designed to heavily favor the wealthy.
You think? Seeing as most Congressmen are millionaires what else can you expect?
Lets see the top 3%of richest. People in US own 90% of the assets. That leaves everyone else to get a share of 10%. I forget how much of the offshore accounts that if the went back to theire real owners and contries. When that money would be taxed properly it would wipe out the deficits of all the countries
Because it's quite easy to pay essentially $0 in taxes if you have adequate knowledge of tax law. I don't l, nor do I know anyone who does, but I do know a paralegal who said that based on the limited tax law cases she's read she vf thinks she could find a way to avoid taxes if she wanted to, although it would be difficult without a lot of time granted by a lot of money.
And places like Amazon wonder why even when they raise their per hour over 20 dollars an hour even for part time jobs they still can't get enough to fill the staff they need for warehouses XD.
Because Amazon sucks. If someone doesn't meet a quota they get fired. I read where one guy had a 98% rating and they fired him because he wasn't doing enough. I bet out of 100 people who could speak freely as anons, 99 would say it sucks to work for Amazon. Out of all the work place shootings I would put Amazon up at the top.
This type of shit is what causes communism and Castros to take over. Never in the history of this country has the super rich fucked the country and the middle class so bad. This country needs Scandinavian type Democratic Socialism to right the wrongs of the past 40 years of supply side trickle down economics. Make things good for the rich motherfuckers and still invest their over seas and in countries like China.
They need to stop people stashing money in off shore accounts and start paying their share. Fucking Congress are the biggest offenders.
Because rich people rule the world. Left or right they own us. They make our clothes, food, medication, homes. We are at their mercy and either we obey or they destroy us. Conform or die. That's the choice.
They know the right things and people to do. I believe it was Trump during his four years, that put a higher tax on the rich. At least he was going to anyway.
Bezos and other billionaires have an army of lawyers and accountants to take advantage of every loophole in the tax code.
Capitalism and conservatives, will complain it's stealing to tax rich more therefore they don't tax them to the highest possible.
It's why he's paying less tax.
Capitalism is a sort of ponzi scheme. It looks after those at the top, more than those at the bottom.
Amazon makes my life easier. Why are you so upset? Is your billion dollar company paging high taxes? 😂🤣😂🤣🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😂😂😂
Fun fact: Amazon could raise the wages of every Amazon employee by $104 an hour and still make $78 billion a year in profits, but choose not to. Hooray capitalism!
No they don’t. The richest pay 35% you don’t pay anywhere near that
28% of a $billion is how much? I pay 28%. You must pay squat like they do.
Oh please! Amazon and Bezos pay way less than that
Multiple reasons especially if the person invests most there money like Elon Musk they are rich on paper but until they cash out on there investment the government see's it as an unrealized gain.
He can afford people that can figure it out so he doesn't have to pay.
the top 1% pay about 40% of all taxes and the top ten % pay nearly 90% of all taxes. Get off your ass and stop freeloading.
Actually I bet you the government is giving him money xD
Shame on all the people here defending the tax cheats!
Because otherwise he would move and none of the taxes would be paid to the country. Rich people hold all the cards.
Because the tax code was written for the rich, money = freedom from the law
Probably after all the write off it appears that way, they always get a lot tax breaks
becazuse he is a democrat and a liberal so he is not expected to pay his fair share
Jeff bezos isn't amazon and secondly he doesn't have it in liquid form where it can be taxed he holds it in stocks and reinvents in other companies so he doesn't file
Look at how much their actual paychecks are their net income and how much they actually accept. Trump is another example he turned down getting paid as president. He claimed he didn't need the money but the real reason he turned it down is so he wouldn't have to pay taxes on it. Trump has his money invested in real estate hardly liquid.
No kidding but to hear the biden regime oh thr rich will pay more bullshit
Because we're suckers
If Bezos ended up paying more taxes then it only mean Amazon becoming more expensive. So in the end consumer would pay. So taxing big corp don't help because of him many people have jobs. Amazon employees many people. He also do some charities.
So not paying their fair share helps the middle class how? So we are enabling some billionaire at our expense? You must not pay taxes, right?
Tell me how them paying tax help middle class. Either they would hire less employees or just increase price of their product.
So if everybody paid their share like Billionaires did then the government would have no money at all. That would go over well.
Billionaire is not paying tax. His customer and workers are. They just pass that tax to them is it really that hard to understand?
So in that case the more the merrier. None of us should pay taxes. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
that's what the USA is all about...
Tax avoidance is one reason he has so much money
You don't pay taxes when you own the government.
You aren't paying less in taxes than Jeff Bezos
Really?
You aren't.
Well…yeah
White privilege
Also black privilege
