How much money and resources will alleviate Israel from being the underdog?

I am just wondering how powerful Israel needs to become for it to no longer be the underdog.

It mainly requires a) a greater Israeli military and b) a qualitative military edge on the end of Israel.


If Israel cannot have the underdog position, it means Saudi-Arabia and Egypt cannot have the very advanced weapons that they do have. For example, one can reasonably argue a very large part of the Saudi air force is far more advanced than the Israeli air force. And even if Israel would replace all its aging jets (and there are A LOT) with the most modern ones, it still faces the issue that it has few pilots, few airbases and such. So even with the newest jets, it would not be a top dog.


If regional countries do have very advanced weapons, Israel would naturally not be a top dog simply because it is a comparably small nation. It’s personnel for the navy is small, which means it will always be an underdog there. It relies on conscription with limited training to each individual, with this not really being possible to replace.


In contrast, with nations like Syria it is always a top dog.

The military efforts these days are about increasing supremacy over striking Iran and improving its capabilities in fighting off Hezbollah and others in Syria.

For countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt, it cannot necessarily rely on technological superiority in many areas, which means it would partially rely on the nuclear option.
