Probably when the Palestinian Authority, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran actually start adhering to the peace treaties they sign with Israel. Israel is the only one in that group that has any interest whatsoever in coexistence, while the others will gleefully sacrifice millions of Arabs at the drop of a hat just to pretend they're on the righteous side.

Easy. Iran constantly expresses their desire and explicit goal to wipe out Israel, just like Hamas and Hezbollah. For example, Iran targets to have wiped out Israel by 2040 quite openly. The other big issue for Israel is that Hamas has large popular support in the West Bank with the Palestinian government itself being unstable as fuck.


Israel would feel safe if Iran accepts Israel, does not fund Hamas nor Hezbollah and if the Palestinian population is more moderate into not supporting Hamas or their goals.

And well, if Israel has some trust the Palestinians will not commit to terrorism like in the Second Intifada, it would be far more comfortable in scaling back its presence in the West Bank.

All that being said, not even the most left wing Jewish parties support splitting Jerusalem, while they need a supermajority for that. So Israel will demand all of Jerusalem
