These places are almost always on the news although most of the looting and burning are called "peaceful protest" People see that and figure if that is what passes for peaceful these days they cannot imagine what a riot would be like.

+1 yI've been to London and there are places I didn't want to be, especially at night. Like anyplace in the world, there are some places that are safer than others. I don't know where you've been in the US, but there are many safe places, and some places that aren't so safe, just like in the UK and any other country.

Asker+1 yNew York is one of safest in the USA I’m sure. NY looks safer the northeast doesn’t really count.
Asker+1 yFlorida and Texas especially look as brutal as Latin America.

Ok, well unfortunately nobody can tell you why psychologically you feel safer in one of the most dangerous cities in Europe. London has the highest level of knife crime (stabbing) than any other in Europe. So why would you feel safer in London than a sleepy rural farm town in Tennessee is beyond me? Remember you wrote “Why do I feel safer in London than ANYWHERE in the USA?” Yet when I brought up the biggest city in the US to compare the biggest city in Britain, you just made an excuse for why I was wrong! Yet, THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWER ON AN OPINION OF A PSYCHOLOGICAL FEELING! The United States has FIFTY States, within those states there are 3132 Counties, and within those counties, there are a total of 19,495 cities, towns, and villages. 14,743 have populations below 5000, only TEN have populations above 1,000,000! So why do YOU feel safer in the most dangerous city in Europe than you would in a village of 300 people near the Canadian border, in Vermont, is likely a question nobody but YOU can answer…
Asker+1 yIs Memphis safe?
Asker+1 yIs NYC the safest?
- +1 y
You are partially correct about the crime in Texas (at least), Florida to a far lesser extent having brutal crime, similar to that of Latin America… That however, is because the narco-criminals from Latin America have been walking across the wide open US southern border with impunity for a long time!
Getting back to London, the rate of violent crime In London is (27.5 per 1000 people) in the us crime is measured by (per 100k people) so to standardize the numbers we must multiply both crime and people by 100! So, 27.5 x 100 = 2750 per 100k people. So London’s violent crime rate is 2750 per 100k people! All numbers below are the US’s most violent city’s, violent crime total, per 100,000 people. (I’ve put London on top for comparative reasons only)
London (UK) (2,750)
St. Louis, MO (2,082)
Detroit, MI (2,057)
Baltimore, MD (2,027)
Memphis, TN (2,003)
Nashville, TN (1,138)
Cleveland, OH (1,557)
New Orleans, LA (1,121)
Oakland, CA (1,299)
Chicago, IL (1,099)
This was taken from the ranking of the top 20 MOST violent cities in the US. It encompasses ALL violent crime, as did the London figures. I only included the city’s that most Brits would have heard of. St Louis is the most violent and Chicago is the least violent, despite its massive murder numbers, other violent crime is extremely low, and these numbers add ALL violent crime combined. Given the statistical numbers, it appears that the city of London is in fact MORE violent than the top 20 most violent cities in the US. Not necessarily deadlier, but certainly MORE VIOLENT! There is a LOT more to violence than just getting shot, my dear. As to why you FEEL something despite the facts showing you are less safe in London, than in even the most dangerous city in the US… Only a qualified therapist can say.
Source: worldpopulationreview.com/.../most-violent-cities-in-america - +1 y
Even crime in general, according to: www.nationmaster.com/.../Total-crimes-per-1000 Britain is #4 on the list of countries with the most crime, while the USA is way down in 22nd place. (It’s important to include sources don’t you think?)
- +1 y
Memphis is on the list of places with LESS violent crime than London, you just have to look. The sources are included
Asker+1 yI get the feeling the violence in the UK is gang related I get the feeling the violence and crime is committed against innocent bystanders in the USA. Also acid and knifes are a lot less scarier than a firearm.
Asker+1 yI don’t believe Chicago is safer than New York, Portland Maine, and Boston.
Asker+1 yTexas also is much less white than the rest of the USA so let’s not be SJWs it feels like safe.
- +1 y
Ok this is getting silly, do you not understand how google works? Just look it up. However, I’ve given you the facts, and the facts clearly show that London is not just A violent city, it is MORE violent than some of the the top 20 MOST violent cities in the US. (Again… shooting is just ONE type of violence, these stats include ALL violence) and given that NYC is not even on the list of the 20 MOST violent cities in the US, and London is MORE violent than the MOST violent city in the US… then ipsofacto, New York, is safer than London!
Asker+1 yI would rather be in London at night I don’t care about what you read online. What’s the safest in North America though Toronto, or Vancouver?
Asker+1 yYes NYC is very normal and safe that’s what I was saying. Not really fair it’s in the country it’s in.
Asker+1 yIsn’t the USA kind of segregated though also? San Francisco normal, Oakland not normal at all.
- +1 y
It doesn’t matter WHAT you believe I’ve actually supplied you with the sources. This entire line of questioning is based on you question “WHY DO I FEEL SAFER…” again I have carefully researched the facts, and the facts, my dear, don’t give a damn about what you feel.
Asker+1 yLook at what I said about segregation. Why doesn’t San Francisco have a lot of problems but a mile away you are in Oakland? It can change too fast which is scary also.
- +1 y
Again with what you FEEL! You wrote, “I get the feeling the violence in the UK is gang related”. That may be true, i’m not going to spent ant Moore time researching this, especially since you dont respect the statistics, OR the time it took to find, Colgate, and assemble the data in applicable form. In Chicago, however, almost ALL of the gun violence is gang related!
Asker+1 yThat’s not how I feel Oakland was pretty bad and San Francisco was pretty nice and not ghetto or trashy at all both cities right next to each other and California is probably the nicest state quality of life wise.
- +1 y
When you ask the question without the cowardice of anonymity, ill answer you. There was NOTHING personal about this question that required anonymity. So your only reason to write it anonymously was to troll, that is abundantly clear now, especially with you beginning to ask racist questions… implying Oakland is violent because of its African American population! Im done!

London is a fucking nightmare
Asker+1 yNew York, NJ is more safe and normal. Where in the USA?
- +1 y
Loads of places, key west, to Nellis near Las Vegas
Atlanta, California, New Orleans, some various other places.
Asker+1 yNever been there. The places I’ve been that are much worse scarier than London are Miami, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Newark, DC.
Asker+1 yNever seen poverty like that in the UK.
Asker+1 yHackney feels like the worst but that’s luxury by American standards.

Never seen poverty like that in the UK?
Okay fuck it, you are trolling and fucking insulting
Bye
Asker+1 yLike in Newark? No way!

Then you’ve CLEARLY Never seen the council house slums of London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham… @chrismaster69 is right you are trolling us if you think London is a safer city than New Orleans, which is in the top 10 most violent cities in the US! Why do I get the feeling that you are American, who once went on vacation to London… As well as Miami? Sure, if you stick to the tourist traps of London, you’ll be relatively safe! You are also not taking into account the sheer massive size of London! Although London and NYC have comparable populations, London is MORE than TWICE the size of NYC! London = 607sq miles, New York City = 302.6 sq miles! That’s a whole lot of city a tourist will NEVER see! #IBringTheFacts

Yes, London is terrible. There have been 136 murders there in the last year. Of course that's in about 8 million people.
New York had 40 murders and 129 shootings. In October. Bringing the total for the year to date to 399 murders.
