Because they are. The way the typical American person behaves these days, I'm fairly sure that their "quotations" in the likeability scale went down pretty hard.
Insecure, constantly worried, loaded with non-issues, hypocritical and as usual, trigger happy.

If you were to make a list of all the things that keep society going, save lives, and just overall make things better you would see it was straight white Western European males at the top of the list.
