Why are people swallowing live goldfish?

I’ve seen videos on social media recently of people swallowing live goldfish (and some even intentionally posting them to vegan groups I’m a part of)...

Why would anybody do this?

it just seems evil and needlessly cruel to the poor fish

Oh my goodness the poor little fishes I hate people sometimes I really do, they are bored out of their mind because of COVID and now they are swallowing poor helpless gold fishes, gold fish lives matter too

They give away goldfish as prizes at my local fair every year and I normally end up swallowing them 😂
