You're right. Putin will be laughing up his sleeve while maintaining a diplomatic face. Biden is a joke but the USA is dangerous, so he will play the game. He's an expert at playing 3D chess. He won't make any deals or give anything away unless it's beneficial to Russia and its allies. And, of course, the U. S. is up to no good and can't be trusted.

Putin dominates the conversation no matter where he goes, because he plays for keeps and doesn't bend the knee to foreign interests when they don't benefit him and/or Russia. He makes it a point to be as intimidating as possible towards weak leaders like Angela Merkel by bringing his huge dogs with him when they meet (she has a known phobia of dogs), and the first time he met with Biden as president, he went out of his way to mention the granddaughter that Joe refuses to acknowledge on international television. This is all despite the fact that Russia isn't even in the top 10 world economic powers anymore. I don't like hardly anything Putin does or stands for, but he's an infinitely more serious politician than what the west has grown accustomed to.

I mean.. conversations between leaders like that is usually incredibly boring. After all, the only thing that gets agreed or extensively talked about are things they already initially agreed or talked about. Countries can't really pivot on a dime so official meetings are more a formality rather than useful.

Imagine if you will two bored people reading from a script that says the blatant obvious and they still have to pretend they care even though they have had the same conversation probably for months and if they are lucky then maybe they had a breakthrough earlier and get to say some new lines to make it "official".
