It's time to acknowledge that people on the far left can be just as racist as people on the far right.
What do you really think diversity means? Not the textbook definition, the contextual one. Does it ever mean "too many black people"? How about "too many latinos"? Is there ever a situation where there's not enough white people? What is the proper ratio of races needed to qualify as 100% diverse?
That's why segregation is making a comeback. The left has pushed their savior-tude on us for so long that it's now accepted as a social norm to think that: 1) minorities are helpless without the aid of white leftists, and 2) in order for minorities to succeed, white people can't be anywhere near (because their mere presence is oppressive)
Which, of course, is 100% racist at its foundation.
I have some people of color in my family and who are close friends. The general consensus I get is that they’re just exhausted by the way they’re treated in predominantly white environments. It’s not always malicious, it’s not even always a major event, it’s just death by a million paper cuts sometimes, just dumb little questions or comments or assumptions, even just silent looks, that are a constant reminder that what they’ve been screaming is largely falling on deaf ears. I would imagine that’s frustrating, seeing your social progress retarded, even fought against, and at very least, not prioritized the way it needs to be. And yes, even the liberals make their negative contributions to this climate.
One thing my girlfriend always says (paraphrased): “it’s unfair to saddle us with the responsibility of teaching white people how to act correctly with us, that should ideally be handled internally by white people holding other white people accountable. It’s already emotional for us and triggering when we experience it…. you can’t just expect us all to always keep a cool head and break it down calmly for white people, who usually are going to battle you on it and get defensive. And then if we get upset, WE’RE labeled hysterical and hostile
and aggressive and all these other things, just for standing up for ourselves and telling someone we won’t accept being treated like this, even when tiptoed around and presented as a non-hostile learning experience. At some point, you have to recognize that there are white people who either don’t get it, or don’t WANT to get it. And when we don’t want to address things that make people uncomfortable, it turns into “you’re too sensitive!”, “you have a victim’s mentality!”, “you’re just imagining it!”, or they spin it like the white people are somehow the victims [author’s note: that’s like showing up to compete in the Paralympics because you have a sprained ankle, lmao].”
Anyway, point is, I think a lot of these folks are just fatigued with everything. It’s always been an issue, and the polarizing politics make it worse. Either everyone is doubling down on their perceived individual “right” to be loudly ignorant and hateful, or you have these dweebs trying to save the world but are their own problem in their own right. Like white people seem to be very incapable of divorcing themselves from racial/cultural prejudices (this could be a universal issue, but the white majority has to take the flak here because the sheer numbers exacerbate the impact), either willfully or just through a lack of understanding. At the end of the day, I think we all just want to be treated like a random person, not by our physical characteristics, and to not have dumb behavioral assumptions made about you because of stupid cultural stereotypes. Don’t ask “so…. what are you?”, don’t ask to touch anyone’s hair, any of that dumb shit that openly reads to someone as “hey…. you’re visibly different and don’t fit in here…. let me ask you some questions.”
So, I know my girlfriend is pretty battle-fatigued with all this, as is her sister, as are some other friends of mine. They don’t even all know each other, but the stories are roughly the same, these aren’t just anecdotal issues, this is a broad problem. Whether they’re trying too hard or trying too little, it’s seems to beat these folks up on some level, and to me, the greatest disrespect in life is to have someone try to honestly explain their feelings about their life, and for the listener to not take it at face value, and try to dismiss it as a non-issue or as an exaggeration meant to gain some kind of advantage. That’s just fucked.
So I don’t know if it’s quite as you’re suggesting, but it’s not wrong that white liberals can miss the mark as well, and that’s gotta just be an additional punch in the face when you’re already on your back from the willful racists.
That’s fair. I’d say i of course agree that it’s legal…. but I don’t care about legality, that’s a bunch of made up bullshit that doesn’t exist in a vacuum and isn’t universal everywhere you go. Is it DECENT, that’s literally all I care about in terms of human behavior.
Because human nature is a product of evolution, and evolution doesn't value intelligence beyond the "live long enough to have kids that survive" point. That doesn't make us bigoted, but it DOES make us seek the path of least resistance, so when society began assigning status to those seen to be victims, this was an inevitable result.
Nor is it as recent as you might be thinking- even back in 1993, when Joel Schumacher made Falling Down (a movie that, to my mind at least, more than excuses Batman and Robin), it was dismissed by many (nowhere near all, not even most, but many) critics as being promoting racism- white people simply can't have crappy lives, because they're white, so they get everything they want and nobody hates them because of their race. No less bullshit today than it was at the time, but I'm pretty sure you'd see the "praise/hatred" ratio flipped it were made today.
See, once you start raking in status points for victimhood, you gradually grow dependent on that source, and it becomes very, very difficult to turn away from it- and once enough people do, it becomes an enshrined cultural value, and few will dare to question it, for fear they'll face social isolation and opprobrium. And these days, you'll have goons on social media threatening to "boycott" (not that they know what that word actually means) businesses that refuse to fire people who voice opinions that they don't agree with.
With this level of tension and divisiveness, it's hard to blame someone for not wanting to be around people who look or think or feel differently from them, and so the cycle continues.

Being a White person (which last I checked is also a "colour") at a predominantly Black institution (where I had to get my advanced schooling) is exhausting every waking day. The Judgement, Hatred and the Scapegoating that comes with being the only White Male in the room can be extremely taxing, yet I managed to graduate without complaining.

My basketball team goes to different states and counties and if it is a place of mostly white people if are team is loud they immediately look at the black players with outrage, and on my team it's the white players who are loud in these situations because we feel uncomfortable.

so tell me who gets to decide who is a minority? I am white mixed with native but I am from a part of Canada with less wealth called the Maritimes. When I move to a big city in say Ontario or BC I fell the same way. The whites they are different cultures than my culture and we are more laidback and not caring much about status like they are yet they are white. I can get along better with a black woman my age from africa than a local white in say Ottawa. Its about mentality not color. Also I am christian and get along best with other christians of any race. One of my best friends is half native.

Obama started this years ago. He made everything about race. Began the "hate cops and he military" movement and really divided this country. I work at a college and in the cafeteria the white kids sit on one side and the black kids sit on the other. It wasn't always like that.
I call it "unintentional racism" or "unintentional sexism". Any time someone believes that there's absolutely no way certain groups of people can thrive and succeed without never-ending government intervention and never-ending government assistance from cradle to grave, it's unintentional racism and/or unintentional sexism.
If they keep giving irresponsible parents child tax credits and earned income credit, they'll all just keep lying about their income and hitting the "sweet spot" on the curve every year. Tax season is when whites owe the government. Blacks think "tax season" is when the government owes them $6000 worth of free money.

I grew up around a few black people and I never had a problem with them. It is just a skin adaptation for more sunlight, skin tone says nothing about intelligence or behavior.
The best way to treat other people is to treat them as human beings and judge them by their actions. Do not categorize them by arbitrary labels and then the ones that do will just look like idiots.

Besides the fact, that there are a lot of other folks on this planet. And they are neither "Black" nor "White"., And outside the groups you obsessed with, Puerto Ricans have issues with Mexicans, Dominicans don't like Haitians, Indian Hindus don't Indian Muslims and so on.
Some folks want to come together and try to resolve those differences of culture and religion. Others don't.

Yes, there is a Black Student Union where I used to go to school. I am sure as a white kid I would be less than welcome there. I also am sure campus administrators would be less than pleased if all of a sudden a White Student Union suddenly popped up on campus. It does not take a genius to see that this kind of crap does nothing but alienate people and cause division.
There is a logical fallacy of allowing blacks to say the N word, have segregated colleges and dorms. Though I just read a white kid just graduated from Howard, so it’s not exclusive….
