When you file your taxes, do you usually get a refund or owe money?

I’ve always gotten a refund in the past, but I suspect that this year, I’ll owe money for the first time.

I usually receive money.

I usually have to pay money.

I’ve never filed taxes.

Flower, I USUALLY get money back, but last year, the IRS started investigating the agency that files my income taxes. Apparently, there is a problem with the way my tax preparer is filing returns. I never look over my return, and just take the refund and deposit it.
Don't know what to expect this year, and I'm holding my breath to see if they are going to still be in business. I have been with them for 15 years.
Talked to IRS on the phone, and they are really assholes, to talk to, but I have nothing to hide and was not afraid to talk to them.

I have always gotten a refund. Not sure about this year though. Our income increased dramatically so... we'll see how that plays out.

Note: I know nothing about taxes so I don't know if your income actually has anything to do with it lol

My mom is a CPA and she does my taxes.

Very nice to have a relative who can do them! The professional tax companies always charge me hundreds of dollars.

I don't file them

My semi-retired accountant checks my figures for which I send him a bottle of 15 year old malt and he tells me the same thing every year you don't hit the VAT registered threshold and you don't make enough profit or take-home pay to pay personal taxes

It depends. Federal, State or Local. Federal-refund, State-sometimes owe and Local-Paid only once.
