The "veteran" he has on is simply someone that may or may not have served in a real war or just happened to find himself in one, while he was putting in his time to get the veteran's benefits.
I served in Vietnam in the middle of firefights as I carried out my duty of search and rescue. Navy pilots, Marine pilots that got shot down either in the water or on land, Army and Marine's that were wounded on the battlefield or that had chased the enemy into one of the myriads of tunnels and were wounded. It was my job to jump from helicopters and rescue our brothers.
I doubt this little rich kid ever saw a brother in arms dying in his arms or risked his own life to save one of our own.12 Reply2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Watching this from outside of the US though I've lived and worked the, and his analysis is spot on and I watched the statement from Harris and was struck how she seemed to be unable to keep a straight face while delivering the statement. It seem that she has done nothing of note in her year as VP and if anything she has been a millstone around the neck of this administration, surely there were better candidates available for the post of VP than Harris!

New York Times isn't wildly better. Fox serves as the campaign arm of the Republican party whereas NYT acts as a campaign arm to any party out of power, which is presently the Republican party. Mindless neutrality on a landscape tilted towards authoritarianism is makes authoritarianism inevitable.
- +1 y
Fox usually lies and calls their lie an opinion because no one can prove they knew better. This is exclusively a right wing misinformation tactic. On the rare occasion I've seen someone on the left try this, they promptly lose the audience. The right holds their storytellers to no such standard..
- +1 y
Yeah, thats what the right tells everyone because they know they have no merits and so need to make having no merits seem normal by insisting the left has none, either. But its all a scam.
Only one side needs to be full of scammers for both sides to look like scammers, as what else is a scam besides specializing in manipulating what things look like? - +1 y
Yes, because we have shifted to the right as a country due to the radical incrementalism made possible by things like false equivalence. Conservatives control the narrative and thus always have more advantage than they should. And if they already have something then why would they bother earning it?
The slide to the right is inevitable when anything in the rightward direction is considered equal to anything in the leftward direction because, by doing that, we forfeit real ground, however small, to the imaginary. If even an inch is given that's an inch given in exchange for nothing. They can give nothing for decades to gain all the real ground there is to gain. And indeed they have. - +1 y
As for principled right wingers, that has sadly become a bit of a paradox, as the Republican party has started openly running on having no principles besides "trigger the libs." But as it happens the democratic party has pleanty of principled conservatives in it. Manchin, for all his faults, is further to the right than most principled conservatives. Surely anything between him and AOC could also be a democrat.
- +1 y
Why do far right trolls all assume I watch the media on television? Is it because the far right infotainment tells them that everyone else is watching TV and you have heard it so many times you can't understand why it could be any other way?
Also, no, your "independent media" is funded and operated by billion dollar far right think tanks. Whole careers have been dedicated to figuring outnhownto get poor people to vote for more tax cuts for the rich and making them feel like they discovered access to some small scale exclusive news that talks about fake grievances most of the time and only slips in general disapproval of taxes occasionally is what they came up with. - +1 y
Oh, trying to copy me, eh. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery 😊
Also not really, though. I'd be delighted if anyone in the mainstream media paid any attention to the pockets of well funded right wing infotainment passing itself off as news to a combined tens of millions of listners. Indeed the only thing I've found on it is an opinion piece from several months ago. From the intelligencer, of all things, which I took for yet another right wing outlet. I was as shocked to see it as I would be to learn that you read it 😅
nymag.com/.../...s-worse-for-biden-than-trump.html - +1 y
Again, parroting MSM. Biden quite literally had a meeting with the MSM to tell them that no matter how impossible it's for them to make money while covering for him in every way, they must.
Besides the whole "criticizing biden is a threat to democracy" lol!
"INTELLIGENCER
THE CUT
VULTURE
THE STRATEGIST

GRUB STREET"
All MSM, by the way. - +1 y
You quoted NY mag, which is mainstream media surviving on corporate donorship alone.
That means that it's not the voice of the people, but of corporations.
And of the government, which means this government is a government for those corporations, like hearts communications.
It's bought and paid corporate propaganda you just quoted, and it's in the defense of the regime after the regime demanded it. - +1 y
I don't, actually. By the way, the NYmag even has an article saying NYT now is funded mostly by readers, which I find hard to believe.
"It's relevant" you just parroted it, nothing more and then posted a link.
I've read that shit before, it's was a laughing stock of an article on my circles before you even read it because we knew it was coming out.
Specially when the media doesn't even hold biden accountable to his own standards.
And I don't even mean him breaking his own covid rules.

@anylolone Thanks.
- +1 y
@Juxtapose Well, of course it's not Pearl Harbor. That said, I seriously doubt that any of these politicians in Congress would have the balls to even go on tv if there was ever a civil war in the U. S. It'd be way less fun than sitting in an armchair while predator drones bomb somebody 11k miles away.
- +1 y
@anylolone Of course not... the government knows that if they blow up 10 random citizens it's going to cost them a lot more in compensation than if they blow up 10 random people in a 2nd world country. My point was that when the war is outside your door.. it's very different.
- +1 y
@anylolone They use drones inside 2nd world cities all the time tho. But it probably goes back to costs... the most populated cities tend to be centers of political power in 2nd world countries too. The odds that you blow up some VIP's kid or diplomat's brother in law increase a lot and the price to cover that is way higher than if a random person with no political connections gets blown up. Of course, people want to think that politics doesn't determine what gets blown up but I think otherwise :)
- +1 y
You are right on those two counts.
It's used, but it's used with limited success and in not that deeply populated centers.
Just remember israel and hamas recent conflict. Even them basically just used drones as info gathering.
On such urban warfare, big buildings become keeps, drones become targets, and targets move way too fast between positions.
(of course, I'm talking about low altitude drones, those high flying drones, yes, they likely be used, but that's indistinguishable from just a bomber doing the same.)

What? When the guest lied about people being watched by the FBI for attending school board meetings, when only people who make illegal threats of violence or even death threats are? Or when he lied about people being arrested for "dissenting", when they're in jail because they broke the law? Or when he lied about their rights being taken away when they're simply being held like any other criminal, with public criminal charges against them, access to lawyers, and they'll have their day in court?
- +1 y
@goaded Death threats are illegal, any evidence of a significant surge or why should the FBI be involved, and it was involved, don't play the fool.
And yes, the glowies broke the law, of course, those weren't prosecuted.
The clueless grandmas who were let in and walked between velvet ropes, those were.
And no one in the 6th riot, more importantly, were prosecuted for insurrection or any related crime. - +1 y
"any evidence of a significant surge" apart from the videos from all over the country of people turning up at school boards because they've been told that their children are being brainwashed by a university level course? Or the recorded telephone threats to school board members? Of course there's a significant surge. ("IN 2021, THE DEPARTMENT [of Justice] CHARGED MORE DEFENDANTS IN CRIMINAL THREAT CASES THAN IN ANY YEAR IN AT LEAST THE LAST FIVE. ")
What the hell are "glowies"? The AG just a couple of days ago explained that the more major the crime, the longer it takes to prosecute, so the minnows are being let off relatively easy while they build their case against the big fish: " THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT REMAINS COMMITTED TO HOLDING ALL January 6 PERPETRATORS AT ANY LEVEL ACCOUNTABLE UNDER LAW, OR WERE OTHERWISE CRIMINALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ASSAULT ON OUR DEMOCRACY. "
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pisduhvk68 - +1 y
@goaded So, they are showing at the schools because their children have been verifiably not only brain washed by CRT and CQS praxis, and this is relevant how? Shouldn't you celebrate parents involved with their children's education?
Also, yes, how was the BLM moron, sullivan, not arrested when he's in video inciting violence?
Or ray epps, who went from "most wanted" to "we don't want to know anything about him" on a flash? - +1 y
Except nobody's been brainwashed, it's the parents that have been lied to, and now they're illegally threatening people.
Is Sullivan the one who BLM and similar groups were warning each other about back in 2020? The one who was trying to escalate things and who has a brother who was riling up the right-wing?
As to Epps, I expect we'll find out in the fullness of time. Perhaps he turned against his colleagues. Perhaps they didn't want him turning up dead. - +1 y
I'd never heard of Epps, but I ran across this today:
" Ray Epps is a retired Marine with connections to a far-right anti-government militia group who traveled to Washington, D. C., to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally in support of Trump’s false claim that the 2020 election had been stolen. While in D. C., Epps was filmed telling other Trump supporters to go “into” the U. S. Capitol “peacefully.” In another video, Epps is seen de-escalating a fight between police and protesters.
There’s no evidence to indicate that Epps went into the Capitol himself or that he committed other criminal offenses. As of this writing, Epps has not been charged with any crimes related to the Jan. 6 attack."

I can't face watching someone that smug and shouty, but from the transcript:
01:46 >> THAT'S RIGHT, THESE ARE VERY DELIBERATE. WE'VE SEEN THIS IN A BOOK BEFORE, BECAUSE LEADING UP TO THE IRAQ WAR THAT THEY HAVE SOME INTELLIGENCE, THERE'S SOMETHING THEY CAN'T TELL US BUT WE HAVE TO TRUST THEM, IT'S A VERY, VERY DANGEROUS BUT WE HAVE TO GIVE THEM THE AUTHORITY TO SEND US INTO WORLD WAR, A NEW WAR BUT THAT WHERE IS HERE IN THAT WAR IS AGAINST THE DEPLORABLE TRUMP SUPPORTER'S, WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL US, AND THAT WAR HAS ALLOWED THEM TO DEPRIVE CITIZENS OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, THOSE WHO ARE STILL SITTING IN A [Gulag] IN WASHINGTON, D. C., DEPRIVED OF THEIR RIGHTS AND EVEN OTHER AMERICANS WHO DISSENT FROM THE CURRENT REGIME'S NARRATIVE.
Utter bollocks. There are criminal charges against every single capitol rioter that's in jail. They're public documents, they've got defence lawyers and the full protection of the law. They're not there because they "dissent", they're there because they broke the law. It was a REPUBLICAN president that lied the country into a war with Iraq. There is no "war" against Trump supporters, there's the rule of law.
- +1 y
02:19 LOOK NO FURTHER THAN WHAT THEY DID TO THE PARENTS WHO HAD THE AUDACITY TO'S SHOW UP TO SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS. THEY HAD THE FBI COUNTERTERRORISM CENTERS TURNED AGAINST THEM.
More bollocks. It is not illegal to make your voice heard. It is ILLEGAL to make threats against people. Is it really that hard to talk without threatening people's lives? Or to trust your children's teachers over Tucker Carlson's lies?
02:29 >> Tucker: NO WONDER LIZ CHENEY IS FOR THIS.
02:31 >> EXACTLY, SHE SHOWED UP MAGICALLY AGAIN TODAY MAKING A GREAT REAPPEARANCE TO...
She was one of only two Republicans to attend the president's speech, the other was her father, the former VP.
Not one other of those cowardly Republican assholes would come forward and listen to the truth of what happened on Jan 6th 2020. When many of them were prepared to lie in an attempt to overturn the will of the people.
Did you see Biden's speech? Did you see Garland's?
They're both well worth listening to and posted here: What's the best summary of the past year in the United States? ↗ - +1 y
No. The typical BLM protest was completely violence-free. The ones with violence were often violence by the police against protesters. It was the largest protest movement in US history with tens of millions of people turning out over months. In all that time, 700 police were injured, compared to 140 in a matter of hours on Jan 6th.
Again: There are criminal charges against every single capitol rioter that's in jail. They're public documents, they've got defence lawyers and the full protection of the law. They're not there because they "dissent", they're there because they broke the law. The guest was simply lying, just like Carlson wanted. - +1 y
Yeah, if you think BLM has been peaceful when those rallies have caused the biggest insurance loss in US history then you are out of your gourd.
https://youtu.be/kWFe6XKHk8c - +1 y
Do you disagree that there are public criminal charges against every single capitol rioter that's in jail? Or that they've got defence lawyers and the full protection of the law? Or that they're not there because they "dissent", they're there because they broke the law?
Carlson's guest lied about everything, just like he wanted.
I did not once say they were completely peaceful, I said that considering 25 million people took part, many of them who were very angry about seeing someone who could have been their neighbour slowly killed by someone who's supposed to be there to serve the community, there wasn't that much violence, and most of it was against property, not people. Something like 13,000 people were charged with crimes, about 0.005% of the participants, compared to more than 1% of the Capitol attackers.
