Why do some white Americans hate on Africa and call it a shithole etc. when in reality it’s like that because of colonization?

Then how do you explain Ethiopia? They weren't colonized at ALL- Egyptians, Romans, Persians, Byzantines, Arabs, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Ethiopia laughed at them all. The Italians DID eventually overwhelm them, in the second world war, but were driven out five years later, without accomplishing much. By your logic, Ethiopia should be a shining paradise, or at least an even match for the great countries of Europe. Or the moderate countries of Europe. Or at least not wracked with massive widespread starvation. Repeatedly. Reality doesn't bear that out.

Nor, for that matter, should the BEST countries of Africa, as measured in standards of living, be those that were the most "colonized". That doesn't check out either. Nor would pretty much anything having to do with Liberia.

People have ideas that all the world was just dandy before imperialism showed up; a basic knowledge of history shows that that wasn't the case.

Honestly Africa even before colonization was into slavery, The Bible even says that. So in some areas it is a shithole. Not all areas ofc

I've actually heard the opposite. The colonized parts of Africa are less of a shithole because of colonization. Am I wrong? I'm only interested in the facts.

You do realize that the colonizers that colonized America stayed here which is why America is majority white, that’s not the case in most African countries

@SmokinAces2000 Pillaging would imply the took natural resources. They didn't, in fact those that stayed cultivated the land and created the only successful farmland in the region.

I'd hardly call purchasing the captives a tribe had taken from their rivals and having pillaged. More along the lines of "they exchanged commerce".
