I believe it’s possible to uplift and empower women without putting down men, although I think it’s also true that parts of society are used to the idea of men being in control so anything other than that is a threat to that particular order of things. I mean there are shows like I Love Lucy where Lucy was the idiot and talentless doting wife and Ricky was the competent award winning man’s man. No one said much about that. However, that doesn’t mean we should necessarily depict a role reversal either. But again, it’s considered entertainment and gets people talking, so the industry will use whatever narrative that works on that note.

Women feel empowered by taking control of the narrative and flipping the tables. Since men have been seen as superior for a while, they want to subvert that by showing women as powerful and men as weak. It appears to be the desire for "revenge," in a sense, I guess.
I don't particularly care what other people think, or how their thoughts affect society. They can portray all men to be dopey and useless if they like. I have no issue being a living example to portray their stereotype.

Men have their place in society and women have theirs. If you start comparing the two or trying to do what the other gender does, it's not empowering, it's cross-dressing...
