Chris Rock had the best line, "The reason for minimum wage laws exist, are because if your employer could pay you less, they would.
Corporate America will NEVER pay a worker what they're worth. Ever! Why? Corporate and shareholder greed.
Raised prices and inflation are inevitable when workers receive higher wages.
Tansportation drivers, whose industry is 80,000 drivers short, aren't enough to deliver supply chain stocks. When demand stays the same and supplies can't keep up, THAT adds to higher prices.
This isn't rocket science here.
Corporations will pay the minimum... always! Illegal workers are a boon for corporations that take jobs and drive wages down. Limited transportation capabilities, with government constantly tightening the noose to reduce driver productivity and pay, in the name of unrealized safety improvements, along with rules and regulations making it harder and harder to become a transportation worker, enacted by bureaucrats who have never held the wheel of a truck, who know nothing except job preservation because PACS against the transportation industry will see that they're unemployed if their agenda isn't enacted.
Just enacted yesterday, a 6 week course for new and existing drivers that wish to upgrade or add to their licenses. Never mind the cost of these courses, because drivers apparently have deep pockets, as evidenced by past legislation. CDL endorsements, TWIC cards, just the cost of a CDL itself, on and on.
An experienced driver (27 years) like myself, that's had, in the past, passenger, school bus and hazmat endorsements being required to pay for and attend these 6 week courses? Who's gonna wanna pay for a piece of paper that says you're qualified when you've already proven you can do the job? Who's gonna wanna stay in the industry?
I guess there will be less school bus drivers and hazardous materials drivers. I wonder who's gonna do these jobs? Give them to some greenhorn that's barely held a car's steering wheel? How about an 18, 19 or 20 year old who's heretofore only been allowed to drive inside a state? Let's send them cross country, behind you, in your van with your kids, downhill, in the winter, at highway speeds. Would you like that? That's what happenns when you let those that drive desks, and those that petition the government to tighten regulations on the industry.
All hail Healthcare workers! The frontline heroes of the pandemic who wouldn't have squat if a truck driver didn't deliver it. Oxygen, to keep these dying fools alive, is a hazardous material. Who's gonna deliver it? Train? Plane? Boat? Air dropped by helicopter? The masks and vaccines that some choose to use and take? Where'd they come from?
The groceries you eat? The toilet paper you use? The clothes you wear? The fuel oil for your heater, so you don't freeze in the winter? The vehicle you drive? Where do you people think these things come from? From raw material to finished products on the shelves? How and where? The gasoline you put in your vehicle to go to work, to earn substandard wages, to buy these overpriced things you all complain about.
This is YOUR America and is a shitshow, in a dumpster fire, and every one of your radical dissenting opinions, no matter which side of the aisle you're on, of how things should be run, are the cause of what you're experiencing. If you think for one second is the other side's fault, you're deluded.
We're ALL in this together. The world is laughing at us and our infighting and bickering. Where is the UNITED States of America? This is the divided states of america, land of opinionated assholes who think their way is the right and ONLY way.
All of you need "WOKE" to realize were being played for THEIR benefit. We traded Kings and Queens, for greedy politicians and greedy corporations.
Out!
That is totally untrue. You know nothing about Capitalism.
A business owner is manufacturing a product, and he needs help. he puts an add up saying help wanted.
You come in and apply for the job. The business owner explains what he needs done, and how much he is willing to pay for the work.
You look at the work being asked to be done and you look at the pay being offered.
if the pay is fair for the work you are being asked to do, you take the job. If the pay does not match the work you are being asked to do, then you tell the Business owner to go stick it!
Now if everybody tells the owner to stick it, he has a choice of either closing up shop or offering more for the work.
This is Capitalism. No one makes you take a job, and only you decide if the pay is fair or not.
If the pay is not fair, you do not take the job. it is that simple!!!
@fireforeffect Blah, blah, blah. Of course it's untrue. I'm quite sure you're on the opposite side of whatever anyone says. I didn't require a reply or rebuttal. I LIVE what I talk about. There's no rebuttal for that. đđ€Șđ
The only way we are going to be united again is with another 9/11. With all the people Biden is letting into the country, unchecked, it will only be a matter of time until it happens.
@fireforeffect And does the fact that more business go bust and close in the first year escape you?
@fireforeffect Get your popo out of the sand.
Democrats wanted $15 minimum wage. Thus anyone who pays employees on an hourly basis will pass that cost along to the consumer. You got what you asked for... As a result everything goes up in price. Corporations may be making more dollars each quarter, but it's relative to cost. Industries generally operate on a certain percentage return on investment to make them worth the risk. By supporting higher minimum wage you have increased the cost of living and dragged down the middle class.
Democrats have also adopted a girl's gone wild mentality when dealing with fed money printing. That money is being used to bail out their buddies at hedge funds and to scope up bad corporate bonds that will default so that businesses that performed poorly will not close shop. Under capitalism they should fail and be removed from the market, but communists/socialists want to manage the economy and pick the winners and losers based on who their friends are rather than let the market do what it naturally would under fair conditions.
Money printing also goes a huge step passed that with The Great Reset model (Build Back Better) being pushed by the Communist Democrats. They are lending endless amounts of money to funds at zero percent interest so that they can scoop up real estate and build new homes that will be rental communities only. Their ideology is that you will own nothing and be happy or else... So they are manipulating the real estate market by lending free money to their cronies so that they can consumer all the available land/housing and have a competitive advantage over everyday investors who have to take out a mortgage. Thus you and your family will never be able to own private property if they continue to get their way. They want you to be a debt slave that has to rent from them forever so that they live off your slavery. If you keep voting for slavers that founded the KKK, don't be surprised when you end up in a field picking cotton.
Maybe if consumers tightened their belts, the large corporations (cough AMAZON) wouldn't be raking in so much cash.

Of those 4, we only use UPS, and that only rarely.
After having to serve smaller portions at our house, at least it may be a bit easier to tighten our belts.
I certainly think that CG is a big factor, but the Fed isn't helping with simply printing more cash and adding to the inflation by passing the bill to our kids and grandkids.
Shoot- bottles of 100% lemon juice for my tea have more than doubled, pork and beef likewise, but our church Food Pantry still is able to give sizable boxes of food to 40-50 families a week, much of it still "in code". If things were so "tight" due to supply and demand, how do the businesses account for that?
I will always try to go with the small ma-and-pa businesses in the neighborhood whenever I can. Problem is that due to shutdowns, several of them have had to close. When I DO use the "big stores", I will try to only "skim the sales" and only buy what's discounted each week. Food stores typically run in 13-week cycles on the broad spectrum of their sale prices, so if I have enough of something to last for three months, we're usually OK until there is a good sale on it again.
Because there is no well thought out regulation on profit redistribution designed specifically for a capitalistic economy. There shouldn't be cap and what company can make, but the there should be a redistribution of profits down the latter to whom labor keeps the company alive... OMH something like if a company is hitting 5 mill a year profit, 25% be taken and equally divided to hourly and salary (under respective amount) employes. 1.25 mill at 100 applicable to receive that comes to 12.5k bonus at the end of the year. It should be tax free and maybe offered a as a 1.5 x (xdollars) if company wants to offer the option as stock share... Imagine the mood shift and production that would benefit production and quality outrageously. But instead US government focus hating an orange skinned mean tweeter and a bunch of people (600 or so) that were at the capital with no deadly weapons and caused less in damages than what it costs to fuel and pay personnel that jet these Global warming "activist" politicians across the world to have a latte while watching the sun rise twice on a single day... were being replaced by machines, human are becoming obsolete, what happens obsolete things in our world..
Firms are assumed to always be greedy. This has always been recognized. If you can sell a product at a level which creates higher profit, then youâll take it as long as the demand is there. If you look at a basic supply and demand curve, youâll see the points in which firms choose to sell at. Basic economics 101. Inflation is a huge issue. The money supply has been increased to staggering amounts. 1 billion dollars is no longer 1 billion dollars. Donât let memes goad you in your views on the US economy.
well most govrnments across the globe printed money like crazy with the excuse that it's needed to cope with corona...

so what is said in this twitter post you showed is a lie. this is governmentally caused inflation. not corporate greed. and there's not even a question about it. it's not some sort of unclear situation. the government massively fucked us over.
thanks biden... making americans poor again.
and if there's a massive inflation, of course corporations gotta rise the prices, cause they gotta stay profitable...
Letâs be clear. This is crony capitalism. Not capitalism. McDonaldâs (for example) and other major corporations do have political power and use it to crush their competition giving them monopoly power. Did McDonaldâs shut down their stores for months during Covid? Or was their competition forced to shut down for months?
The price increases are rooted in reality, though. Supply chain problems are supply shortages and when supply shrinks, demand increases along with prices. With capitalism, corporations should have the same rights as citizens but that is obviously not the case.
@msc545 What is the No True Scotsman fallacy?
@msc545 Are you pushing for socialism or communism?
@msc545 Where has democratic socialism worked?
@msc545 Where has it solved inequality?
In the Scandinavian countries, it has not solved inequality, but it has mitigated it.
Same question for you - where has Capitalism solved inequality, and where has it created it or made it worse? I contend it has made it a lot worse in the US and the UK, and it has solved it or made it better nowhere.
@msc545 Capitalism doesnât solve inequality but now youâre starting to define inequity. Capitalism simply guarantees that I keep what I earn. Socialism gives ownership of my work to someone else who distributes it evenly to everyone. Socialism, in theory, could solve wealth inequality but that is simply not possible with human nature.
Capitalism allows sociopaths to become wealthy by taking advantage of others, and, in end-stage Capitalism as we have now, to have undue political influence and pass laws that actually legalize their activities. This is why about 5 to 10 % of the population controls 90% of the wealth in the US.
@msc545 I agree. Thatâs crony capitalism. Although, I will say itâs probably more like the 0.01% and not the 5% of people making these decisions. 5% is still 15 million people. I would say itâs closer to 1,000 people and maybe even less than that. Would you agree that power should be given back to citizens or all of it should be controlled by the government?
What bugs me is that taxpayer money is used to bail out the big banks that created the crisis during the obama regime, which is fair enough then those big bankers acted like they'd made their banks money and gave themselves bonuses. Meanwhile those same taxpayers were losing their homes and jobs. Nobody was held accountable for this.
Because that is the natural state of affairs. Always in large societies, the many, have in effect, been slaves to the few. Even in the USA that supposely represents freedom, there is almost nothing the commoners can do that that is not controled and regulated by rules established by the few and enforced with force.
Why don't u stop going to mcd or Starbucks? U see they can only make that money cus people support them.
U mad at them? Im mad at people low intelligence to give money away then blame them for taking it.
Bit different when it comes to oil ofc and few other companies that u have no other choice, but mcd and Starbucks really? Come on
Liberal policies fuck the poor in the long run. This is the result of the government giving too much money away. An "unintended" consequence of fucking with the free market. But by the way, feel free to by all the Exxon stock you want, it's readily available and most of the company is owned by mutual funds that are part of most American;s retirement fund
well if you listen to the world economic forum, this coming economical collaps, otherwise known as "great reset" that's propagated with the slogan "build back better" was everything BUT unintended.
Because we are stupid. So we deserve to be butt raped. America might be the only democracy on earth where if you ask for a return on your own tax dollars, which is basically 40% of your own damn money, you are "begging".
Why are you buying $4 per cup drip coffee at Starbucks when a $5 bag of flavored coffee at the grocery store will last you weeks at minimum?
Inflation is hitting a lot of places due to a variety of factors. But common sense can save you a fortune.
That one is easy. People pay for convenience and are too lazy to make their own.
I shop at Aldi's because walmart seems too pricey for groceries. Buying starbucks coffee? A splurge haha. One drip coffee from them five days a week at $3 equals $780 per year. There goes a free airbnb at a cabin.
Aldis doesn't have that big of selection and it looks like a cheaper version of Grocery Outlet. Walmart has most everything, but you might pay more for some things.
True, it is a lot more limited. Aldis first then Walmart for what they didn't have lol.
have you ever seen shit roll up hill?
we are at the bottom of the ladder looking up, so as long as people/we continue to support those business they can keep doing things like that.
Let's take Bi Pharma for instance. People can't do without some type of medicine any more than people can't do without pot and cocaine. Big Pharma knows it so they bend you over and stick it to you. You become as dependent on them as you are dependent on the government to take care of you.
Quoting Tony Soprano 'shit runs downhill, money runs up'
In some ways many people benefit from the profits. The upper echelons of the companies get bonuses, the stock holders and institutions that invest in those companies share the profit, the government earns taxes from those companies. Itâs terrible when it becomes excessive, abusive, and destructive but until that point it can be very lucrative.
Corporations make money. That is not illegal. Corporations did not establish policies and regulations that caused fuel prices to increase 75%. The corporations not borrow money and sell it to the federal reserve. That would be an illegal scheme if it were done by private corporations. It is the government that did this. Take an economics course.
Capitalisms got to make capital. You didn't think ordinary people are what makes democracies, did you? You really are naive. We have simply swapped kings for billionaires.
well... that's American capitalism nonetheless
and this is also what people elected Congressmen for... to make these decisions on our behalf
Yes, but most often it is more like in their own behalf. for instance, they vote in raises for themselves but when there is talk about helping people during the Covid crisis they say no, we don't want to spend money for that.
congress only serves itself and to those that put them there in the first place, which is not our votes... but the companies that promoted them for their seats... and yes, it's always about money
the raise on their salaries doesn't compare to the stock they have, there's where they got all of their big money
The world is broken and greed rules as Master. A rich man is never satisfied.
Yeah. As a country we are so blind and to this fact.. and will go down defending this as the way it is.. even though they are still getting drained dry. They wonât wake up until itâs too late. Iâll be watching from afar.
Yeah they raise prices because itâs harder to get supplies to slow down demand and yet they make more money and profit anyway , just like we guess raising the prices just increases their profits and tries to slow down demand
It looks like inflation. The government has been printing money since the pandemic started.
Buy stock in those corporations. Be part of the "problem."
Oh it's definitely inflation too. The reason we have to tighten our belts is because the corporations know who to pay off in government.
This what we do in capitalist countries, its how its always been.
Just looking up ExxonMobil but it costs damn near 9 billion just to pay their employees. It's never as much money as you think it is.
You mean that much for just the CEO and top managers.
No, that's about 127k the madian Salary spread across 72,000 employees
Holy shit Batman. I must be in the wrong business.
Probably
NO. For all employees!! Oil companies work off of a very small profit margin.
Because they want stock market to go to 50,000. So profits mean higher stock prices.
They want share holders happy
It is called never leaving a crisis go to waste!
Corporations need to keep their stock holders happy and pay their own bonuses.
Biden makes it so easy to blame him for the economy!
Because we don't run this country; they do and they make the rules.
I agree. The little guy is getting screwed. Wages need to keep up with inflation.
1) Shut down economy, leave only gas stations, and food restaurants, pharmacy, and hospitals open
2) Profit
3) Blame corporate greed
Nothing new just another day for the sheep and their capitalism 🤦🤦🤦
Sure keep believing that sheep
Yea sure with all the sanctions and embargos placed on Venezuela by the very same capitalist countries? So very generous of you!
So you actually think a country can be prosperous when all trade is prevented?
And you think that has nothing to do with any of the embargos and sanctions placed on the country? Really?
Uh you know that Russia still exists and is still communist right? Lol đ and its also a world power and always has been? Also dont forget about China
But i must say you are incredibly naive if you think sanctions and embargos has nothing to do with the poverty of these small communist countries
Oh wow you learn something everyday. Although the destabilizing transition from communist economy to a capitalist economy had a part in the ussr downfall but Russia as we know today is a mixed economy with the sate owning all the corporations and the means of production. So they are still some what communist or socialist but more accurately a mixed economy.
Buti would also like to note just because X country disappears doesn't mean that whatever economic system they had doesn't invalidate that economic system. Also if capitalism collapses in the US with every bubble burst that doesn't mean capitalism was defeated...
Free markets is the way to go, the current situation in the US is leading to a huge bubble, is that failure capitalism? Nope. It's the big government you favor. Government cannot run an economy (go to a DMV, they can't even run one of those..)
So while politicians ruin the US economy, of course, we'll have ill informed people denouncing capitalism as the reason... When that's far from the truth.
Sure whatever your reasons are you agree that if would be silly to conclude that capitalism failed every time there was a crash in the us market right? Same goes for other economic systems such as socialism and communism
Capitalism has so far never failed and the perceived failures always involved government overreach into the markets, like the great depression for example.
But no, time and time again, wherever communism is practiced, it's economy, human rights, and supply management has been disastrous. It's governments is also responsible for at least 100 million deaths.
Even china, they may look big and powerful, but underneath the facade, they're wracking up a mountain of debts. Their economy is solely based on trade as well, that's a glaring issue.
What's the reason behind China's slowly eroding economy? Social programs, as is always the case.
The more the government "helps" it's populace, the more everyone loses
Lmfaooooooo wow that is some delusion you got there buddy!! Capitalism has never failed? Yea get back to me when you are done drinking all that kool-aid and smelling your own farts and getting high of your own ego!
Its pretty obvious you are not up for an actual intellectual debate
How can anyone have a serious debate about capitalism if the other person flat out says capitalism is perfect and does not have a single god damn fault? Tell me how?
So its not an insult if its a fact. You have extremist views buddy
@vald9inchesWhy would they place embargos on needy countries and then turn around and give them foreign aid money?
@Daniela1982 its all capitalism propaganda. Its all about making the competition look bad while making yourself look good. Capitalism excels in misinformation and false advertising
There are cons to capitalism, but it hasn't failed as of yet.
There's a difference between something having failures/faults and failing outright.
"Capitalism propaganda", um, point me in the direction of this propaganda you're talking about, I've never seen it.
I've researched Marx, I recommend you research Hayek and Rand at least
I guess if your definition of never failing is capitalism spreading destruction and misery to the natural world yea i guess it has never failed in that regard! đ€Šđ€Š Like how brainwashed can you be to say that capitalism has never failed? Like hello have you ever heard of THE GREAT DEPRESSION? What about every other crash in history? You want evidence of propaganda brainwashing there is your answer! You are a perfect example of a blind dumb sheep that doesn't question anything you have been told!
Its pretty obvious you are right wing republican they are the most brainwashed of all the groups in america. You probably even watch PragerU religiously!! Lmfao đ tell me i am wrong?
Well perhaps you should have unionized so that you could ask for your old pay checked for inflation.
On the positive side cheaper labour makes US more competitive in the global economy.
We don't have to
'Be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy'
My business really runs on that exact principal
The taxpayers probably do
It's because no matter who you elect, the corporations are going to be the ones pandered to.
This is government propaganda to throw you off their mishandling of the economy.
Because they're companies that make products for us to buy, it's not their problem we as individuals are broke, that's an individuals problem
Thats your problem
Your broke and Companies are hiking up prices
You previously said we individuals are broke which would also include you
Hence "we"
People that support them are probably worse. Stop supporting the greedy!
If corporate America is raking in the cash that is at the expense of the consumer.
WellâŠyeah. Thatâs why I fck over large corporations anyway I can.
One thing to keep in mind, those companies operate outside the US as well.
I do understand your point though.
You are correct in one hand theinsurance company made billions during this covid.
Because stolen elections have consequences.
What does Biden have to do with corporations raping America and taking measures to take advantage of Americans during the Covid pandemic? It ain't the CEO's, who make millions in just bonuses, who are losing jobs or their homes.
Because Biden is a total Idiot!!
Iâm pretty sure things have always been that way.
Because they own the politicians and bureaucrats
It keeps the swamp in charge.
corporates run America
That's liberalism for ya
Thats your stupidity for ya...
@michael1469 you wish. But I'm not going to argue with an idiot.
You are right, no sense in arguing with yourself.
Capitalism. I say we go Democratic Communist.
Because people with money run the world
What is the issue?
Vote with your wallet.
Because they can.
Over my, er, your dead body they can!
Ask Biden.
