Raking in billions of dollars in profit while having their employees receive public benefits to feed themselves is a fucking scandal. These managers must be laughing all the way to the bank. But yay capitalism, right?

I would also call out the the farmers lobbying selling to our government to give out ungodly amount of milk. Everyone hates the insider trading of deals with government and this example of that. The farmers can't sell enough of a product and won't change to the changing demands so they create the demands by government subsidies.
Snap is apart of department of agriculture. when in reality it should be housing or even education at this point with how ass backwards we are with nutrition knowledge. It's putting the cartridge in front of the horse.
MCDonald's world wide NET profit was 8.7 BILLION DOLLARS. Let that sink in. This means each of their locations averaged a NET profit of $229,000. That means each location is making a NET profit of over $19,000 a month. Yet, their employees struggle to afford groceries.
Think about that the next time you want to go to McDonalds, which has raised it's prices to the point where they're no longer a good deal for the consumer.
If you’re saying, Corporations should PAY MORE TAXES, Billionaires should PAY MORE, and states should PAY a more reasonable LIVING WAGE, or fund basic income, so people can afford to pay for food, …then yes, I agree.
And although I can see SNAP being confused for ‘welfare’… there is a nuanced difference, …just wanted to mention that
This is what happens when you legalise bribing politicians and attempt to criminalise people working together in unions. Unfortunately both parties are guilty of this and changing it would take something radical, like a lot of people grouping up together to leverage their combined bartering power.
People are willingly working for these companies. If I were in that position, I would do what I had to do to get something better, not look to the taxpayers, but that's just me. There are jobs that pay way more than that where they will hire anyone. I've moved for better opportunities.
