About the welfare of the disabled?

What do you think is the problem with the welfare of the disabled? Also, how do you think we can solve the problem?

That's not the case. Everyone is living hard.

I am currently on full temporary disability and I can tell you that the red tape has made it much worse. My injury is a torn distal bicep and so I cannot use my right arm, which for my job (truck driver) is needed.
The injury required surgery within two weeks or it adds another five months onto the already lengthy recovery time. It took six weeks before the surgery was approved. Then a disagreement between the doctor and the insurance company added another two months where nothing was happening and my TTD benefits were cut off completely. So I had no income and work restrictions that said I couldn't get any job at all. I ended up having to go to court to get that resolved in the meantime my savings is gone and my bills are late.
None of that was needed, but total lack of streamlining in the process is what's killing me.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that, man. I'm completely on your side. A lot of processes need to be reformed.

I think you're right. I think there are many points in the current welfare system that do not address the problems of the handicapped. I think the welfare system should be reformed and society as a whole should be closer to them.

Good for you. I definitely think that is needed, especially as a disabled person myself.

When I was in junior high school, when I went to a disabled facility for volunteer work, I thought superficial support was not enough for them.

That society views them as less than human. We need to educate people to be kind to others. And that not all disabilities are visible.

Some disabled people literally cannot work due to their disability. They are not being lazy like some people on government assistance

Yes. They live hard, so we have to understand and support them more.

You're never going to "solve" disability unless you can un-disable someone. You can dump all the money you want, create all the resources you want, but at the end of the day, you're either dealing with ongoing treatments or compensation; it's not a cure.

Yes. I think the welfare system may not be aware of some of their problems.

They have had bad luck. A lot of people living on the streets are there because of a drug addiction, mental issues, or physical disabilities. In a perfect world there would be assistance on an individual basis that included therapy, counselling, housing, medical care, and aid workers to help them live better lives.

No fucking idea. The best idea is to have no welfare if possible, but it isn't.
(like, instead of welfare, finding an occupation, encouraging the family to take care of it's members, etc...)

So, you solve without welfare what you can, and what you can't, you just take the defrauders as an expected cost. (the problem with defrauders isn't that they wouldn't defraud otherwise, but that they create unpredictable diminishing returns with the system.)

It's just that they're in such a situation. They are no different from us.
