Heres what Putin REALLY wants. What do you think?
He wants to restore the old Russian empire.. and as you can see it encompasses Ukraine, Poland, Finland.. and more eastern European countries.

In my humble opinion, I think it’s more what the US and Europe want rather than what Putin wants. The US and Europe want more controls while Putin just wants to maintain Russia’s existing powers and security.

Though I must say I am categorically against war (especially coming from a war torn country myself). This is all seems very silly to me but sadly it costs many people their lives. I’m very scared after hearing Boris’ speech today. I don’t trust him with my life.

Yes I can see that in your question lol. I’m just going to say that it’s worth subscribing to the media with a critical mindset - coming from me who basically works in the media lol. But it’s true. It seems like they want to paint Putin and Russia and this war-hungry imperialist. I’m not defending him in any way and I’m not taking his side. But I think we should all be critical of what we hear.

because Russia is a nuclear power that uses that fact to do and invade whatever Putin feels like.

And we aren't really involved we are only sending Ukraine armaments... because they want us to to. We and the EU are going to sanction russia... but thats about it.

Now if Putin invades a nato country.. all bets are off there.

I just find it hard to believe that a leader would want to risk cutting key economical ties just because they feel like invading another country. I mean Russia supplies 40% of Europe’s gas and some European leaders have already sanctioned Russia today.

Also the last time I checked the US doesn’t really help nations because they want them to...

Guess we’ll see what happens. Praying for peace at the end of it though.

And for Putin it really isn't about money or anything this is an emotional fascist thing for him. he wants the ukraine because he still views it as russia and should still be part of their country.

Russia was never at risk at all. So that's just his bullshit narrative. Ukraine many years ago even gave up all their nuclear power for security from Russia, which they have broken now too with their invasion. What Russia is doing is inexcusable and undefendable.

Nato was created as a defense force, and it already has 2 countries at least that border with Russia. Only "risk" is if you invade, so no invasion no risk. Not to mention now this is really hurting their economy, not invading again, it would have been fine, regardless if Ukraine joined nato or not. This is just his narrative being projected. Done so with everything he has said. Said his troops was at the border for an "exercise", nope was there for an invasions. Said Ukraine attacked him, nope he attacked Ukraine. Said he was withdrawing, nope he was advancing, and so on an on. Not to mention the plans for all of this was obviously set in motion 8 years ago too. Almost forgot, in his more recent statement he said Ukraine was "robbed" from him, which has nothing to do with nato again, but Ukraine independence.

You sound like you are agreeing with Putin because that's literally why he initially said he is invading Ukraine. Nato is not a threat amd he has no business dictating who amd who shall not join. Ukraine gave back their nuclear weapons in the 90's which did belong to Russia. Putin's new excuses of why he's invading as in Ukraine are gangsters amd Nazi's is utter bullshit. He is projecting his bullshit onto others. Putin has nothing to lose even Russians admitted he's physically and mentally not well. Cancer and whatever else he has up there mentally.

You are 100% right and he also doesn't want America to put nuclear weapons on Ukraine's land pointed at Russia this all goes a little bit deeper than what everybody thinks there's going to be a new currency coming out is All Nations use Whoever has control of that one currency will take over and run basically everything that's why China keeps buying land in America they buy house after house after property after property business after business the more people they can get over here the more of the take over one day they can do or try Putin wants everything like what you just stated because then he has a bigger Army because one day Putin will try to take over the world China when they will try to take over the world America is too fucking stupid because they would rather get all their people put them in their house locking down so they can't work so they don't make any money so they can't buy all the new stock that are coming out they don't want us to have money but when it comes time to fight for them they're going to want us to fight they keep backing us into a corner one of these days we're not going to be able to get out of but this is a whole bigger issue than what people are even thinking you have to think we're ahead what's really going on it started with toilet paper it went to covid and how somehow it went from covid 2 a bigger covid and a bigger covered but all of a sudden it just stops everybody needs to wake up we have been manipulated they want to see who's the sheep and who's not a sheep

America so far are breaking there promise they have had since Cold War and Nato are doing jack all. And sanctions mean nothing Putin don't care about those. Need troops not sanctions. We don't need another WW2 letting hitler even getting into France or that far in the first place.

what promise again? the not allowing nato to expand? well unfortunately that was only a verbal agreement they didn't write anything down. 2nd nato doesn't just decide to expand countries themselves are the ones who have to apply to be accepted into it. all countries have their own autonomy after all they can decide if they want to be part of nato or not.

I am pretty sure they made a promise back in the Cold war to protect the boards of Ukraine if Russia was ever to do anything. This promise was never taken back and still legally binding. It has nothing to do with Nato the one I am talking about. It was solo agreement between them and Ukraine.
Actually after the cold war in 1994.

@Still-alive It’s okay to violate a verbal agreement because it is not written down? That used to be frowned upon in the West. Sadly, we are much more litigious these days than we used to be and seem to think we’re clever. However, in Russian culture it is reprehensible to violate an agreement and say it is okay because it wasn’t a signed document.

im not saying its ok... but it might as well be a moot thing... it should be written down with everything spelled out for the records and signed.

verbal doesn't ensure any of that. again not saying its good... but its just bound to happen. if it wasn't the u. s. any other super power country would ignore it inevitably too. it might be cliche to say but its kind of human nature in a ways.

in any case the countries that did join nato (mainly former warsaw pact members) did so because THEY requested it. thats how nato works. it does just invade or absorb countries against their will.

@Still-alive If dishonest chicanery such as making promises and then saying “joke’s on you, we didn’t put it in writing” isn’t good, we should not be surprised when it comes back to bite us. I feel no need to defend US elites on this matter. Also, NATO does not have to take in every country that applies and it is not reasonable for Russia to tolerate additional aggressive posturing of NATO toward its borders. We would not tolerate Russia setting up military bases in Canada and Mexico if they requested it. The hypocrisy here is unbelievable.

We would not tolerate Russia setting up military bases in Canada and Mexico if they requested it. The hypocrisy here is unbelievable. "

nothing aggressive about it... look here's the criteria to join nato

"3. What does it take to join?

NATO countries have to be unanimous in welcoming a new member. Approval is pretty much a political decision, though NATO does spell out criteria that prospective new members should meet.

These include a functioning democracy based on a market economy, fair treatment of minority populations and a commitment to resolve conflicts peacefully.

The applicant needs to have the ability and willingness to make a military contribution to NATO operations.

NATO has also made clear that having “unresolved external territorial disputes” weighs against being admitted, a consideration that gives Putin an edge, since Russian forces occupy internationally recognized parts of Georgia (Abkhazia and South Ossetia) and Ukraine (Crimea)."

So it does reject members if this criteria isn't met.

and again you missed my point. Russia keeps demonstrating time and again its willlingness to invade its neighbors. The USA hasn't so there wouldn't even be a reason to set up bases in Canada or mexico. So while its true we wouldn't like it we also just aren't doing what Russia keeps doing so its a moot point ultimately.

@Still-alive Given that the USSR made borders that left many Russians trapped in other countries after the USSR broke up, it is not unreasonable to expect Russia to have an interest in intervening where Russians or pro-Russian groups are being abused. It’s worth remembering that the US toppled Ukraine’s elected government in a coup to install a puppet government, and this is what started the crisis in the first place. The US is the aggressor here.

haha you're insanse to think this

yes we the US are not angels nor am i defending us but no.. the US is not the aggressor. this is ALL Russia... if Russia wants nato gone it needs to STOP invading its neighbors. its that simple.

no invading.. no nato.. thats how it works.

furthermore i would even argue that had nato disbanded back after the soviet union fell Russia STILL would have taken its neighbors by force anyways. therefore NATO isn't the issue here nor was it ever RUSSIA is the issue. and has been for a long time now.

@Still-alive This is why I doubt they will keep anything but the pro-Russian and Russian dominated areas. I think the goal will be to leave Western Ukraine (west of the Dnieper and inland from the Black Sea coast) independent, but officially neutral. In fact, Ukraine’s government is already signaling that they are open to negotiating a neutrality pact with Russia.

time will tell. but i feel optimistic as of right now. we will see what the future brings. but i feel confident a quagmire is how this is going to ultimately play out for Russia.

and it sucks because a lot of ukranians and Russians will die in the meantime.

No, Putin has no interest in taking Poland or Finland. This is just media sensationalism. The war is happening because the West crossed one of Russia’s “red lines” and then refused to take Russia’s security concerns seriously. If America was surrounded by hostile military bases on all sides, we wouldn’t be as measured as Russia has been. Russia has only acted militarily when its red lines are violated: after US-backed Georgia attacked civilians in South Ossetia, after the US tried to topple the Assad regime in Syria, and now due to the continued missile attacks on separatist regions in east Ukraine. It’s quite possible the US wanted this invasion all along because one consequence is that the Germans were forced to suspend the Nordstream2 pipeline indefinitely. Integration of Germany with Russian infrastructure would be a threat to the dollar in the long run.

"No, Putin has no interest in taking Poland or Finland. "

      for now

"The war is happening because the West crossed one of Russia’s “red lines” and then refused to take Russia’s security concerns seriously"

nope this is purely Russia's doing. they are the ones who invaded. not the US. no one forced them to do this. no one.

" If America was surrounded by hostile military bases on all sides, we wouldn’t be as measured as Russia has been."

while its a good point about bases being around the US we are not invading our neighbors through military force.. Russia however does have a record of invading its neighbors (Georgia, Chechnya, Ukraine and now Ukraine again) so yes NATO is still needed. if Russia stopped playing this old game then nato would be completely pointless. i'd even say it would have been dismantled a long time by now had russia just chilled the fuck out.

Mostly, I think they only want the eastern half of Poland and Finland but the rest seems accurate, and he'll say it is for a safety buffer to prevent invasion from Europe.

I never bought any of that BS that NATO would ever invade Russia, that was never going to happen. Russia had nothing to worry about even if Ukraine joined NATO.

The only good thing about Ukraine not joining is it prevented WWIII from when Russia did eventually invade Ukraine.

That is not what he wants.
As far as he is concerned NATO is a potential threat. And to him having a country like Ukraine, with lots of natural resources and previous nuclear power, at Russia border, in NATO is unsafe for his county.
He wants to demilitarize Ukraine and for it to not enter NATO. That is it.
If it justifies what he is doing? Of course not.

That wouldn't work. His country will crumble before that. He might at best hold Ukraine for a while. He doesn't have the peoples support and the countrys economy will completely crash on a project that would last as long as trying something in this scale.

What Russia wants is irrelevant. They are not doing any of this because they want to, they are doing it because their hand is forced. They have steadily grown weaker ever since the fall of the Soviet Union and this is just the latest example of power and influence flowing through their fingers and they desperately struggling to keep a hold of it using any means necessary.

If that´s true we´ll see world war three in the making because Poland and all the Baltic countries are NATO members which will lead to a war between Russia and the NATO.

Russia has limited ports. Most of them are frozen large parts of the year. Taking the Ukraine opens up a lot of shipping on the Black Sea and through that, the Mediterranean.
It also would not surprise me if they didn't have a trade deal worked out with China in which China uses the distraction in Europe to take Taiwan.

If the Ukrainian army is 1/3 weaker than Russian army, no amount of "arms, supplies and other stuffs can help them". See now, even the men aged 18-55 or something are being forced to fight the war for Ukraine. Did Americans or NATO give them training? No.

uhh of course it can... a well trained and armed militia stand a much much better chance then say a bunch of untrained guerilla soldiers.

Yes russia will take the country but ukrainians will make occupying it a nightmare for them.

Putin is smart enough to know the consequences of what he's doing. People in Russia are opposing Putin, so to divert people's mind he's announcing war with Ukraine. Although he does have a problem Ukraine being part of NATO. Since Ukraine has abundant natural resources and most importantly Russia and Ukraine have a history together.

Russia retaliated because Ukraine violated a red line warning to stop firing missiles at Donetsk for seceding. Instead, Ukraine doubled the rate at which it was firing missiles into Donetsk. So after two hours of a trade partner being brutally murdered for wanting to not be part of a government in Kiev run by organized crime anymore, Putin was fed up, and retaliated.

The fake news wants us to shed a tear for the gangsters running Kiev. But to ignore the butchery that Kiev has been inflicting on Donetsk for decades, even before the secession occured.

And without thinking, everyone jumped on the bandwagon to make Russia the bad guy.
