Anyone with more than 5 figures in their personal bank account has a 98% probability of being either a liar, a moron, or both. (over 60% of guys, and 25% of girls currently in the polls)
If your business depends heavily on your personal bank account having larger sums for purchases that would make sense. Except that would mean you are running a sole proprietorship, which is a bad idea once you start working with larger amounts of money.
It is possible there are instances where it would be smart to keep excess money in a personal banking account; I'd love to hear if anyone has ideas or personal experience. But for the most part, it's unnecessary to keep more than a few thousand in your personal account, and any excess should be diverted out to investment accounts, where your money can work for you. A checking or savings account is going to yield something between 0%-2% interest, and even an extremely conservative investment account will yield you 5%, more aggressive investments can yield 10%-25% or even more.

I can live for a few months off of $9,999, so I never keep more than 4 figures in my own personal account. Money left there is only there for liquidity, I invest anything beyond that.
Why not just use credit cards and pay them off every 30 days full?
@Cuminginside I absolutely do, but paying them in full requires withdrawal from an account. Maybe I don't understand what you're asking. Where would the money come from that pays for the credit card bill?
I have $10 in 3 different accounts… so 6 figures 😆
The government knows how much I earn because they tax the shit out of me.
6 figures, but I use a different currency so that would be about 4 figures in USD, if I'm not mistaken.
5-figures. But we'll get to 6 and then to 7-figures soon enough 😂
how?
@888theGreat by saving our money and living on less than we make. We have no consumer debt and we have a solid household income and we live on 1/5 of it and save/invest the rest.
You know Democrats and banks will declare you a bad person and just take your money
@888theGreat lol yeah, over half my paychecks get eaten by taxes 😭

Really shouldn't want to have more than 5 figures in a single account/bank. Definitely want to be investing the extra and allow it to grow with time. Also you can limit the FDIC protection if too much is in one spot potentially.
Almost five figures. I'm about a thousand dollars away. But I'm about to spend $4,000 on surgery soon.
If you really want to estimate your net worth, try to add up all your assets and take into account your liabilities also. A bank account is just one part. Do that exercise at start of every month.
Just to pay the bills electronically that's it so just under a figure.
I plead the fifth. I don't want the government in my business.
Even on an anonymous website, I would never give out that information.
