There are some extreme case, where I think it's justified, such as war crimes. Some NSDAP members (such as Frank or Von Ribbentrop) were sentenced to death in Nurnberg and I'm delighted about it. They should not sit in warm prison with tv and good meals paid by my taxes.

I'm unsure, but I err on the side of caution, that being anti-death penalty. Not only can people be wrongfully convicted, and thus their death penalty being unjustified and a truly horrible and unfortunate thing, but laws can change. Things we thought were bad at one point we find out aren't so bad.

For example, up until this day (or at the very least up until our very recent history), there were some places in the world where the punishment for homosexuality was being stoned to death. The problem is when government is like "whoops, we were wrong. Homosexuality actually isn't bad." And then ghe government being unable to compensate the people they killed (as they're literally dead). So those people were wrongfully killed but don't get their lives back once the government admits the law was unjust.

And that doesn't just apply to laws they change, not all laws are justified. Our legal systems are made by us, flawed being, and thus, are bound to be flawed (let alone considering the inclination towards flaw that naturally comes with highly complex systems like the legal system we have today).

For certain crimes, I absolutely support the death penalty. But it should only be applied when there is no doubt of guilt. None of this beyond "reasonable" doubt shit.

Innocent people get convicted of crimes all the time, and sometimes sentenced to death based on circumstantial evidence at best.

The problem is the rich and powerful never get the death penalty. Cops and people in government never get the death penalty. It's always poor people who can't afford good representation who get sentenced to death. Our judicial system is very unfair.

There are very influential people who are guilty of crimes against humanity who will never see a court room, let alone a prison cell or death chamber. There are people I would like to see standing on a gallows pissing themselves in fear. No lethal injection for them.

I think the death penalty is unjustifiable for a simple reason.

We can never prove something with 100% certainty. This is a problem because if we make a mistake with the death penalty, you just executed an innocent civilian. You can't just "undo" that. At least with prison time you can make an attempt to compensate with giving them money, you can't compensate someone who is already dead.

Until we live in a world where we can 100% guarantee that anyone sentenced to death is guilty with no errors, ever, it becomes impossible to implement the death penalty.

Anyone over the age of 30 getting a life sentence should just get the death penalty but here's why.

At least in this country, we put people in jail for way too long. People get 10, 30, 40+ year sentences over relatively small things.

If you think this person needs to go away "as long as possible" just send them to death row. Who is it helping to pay all that money to feed, clothe and maintain the health of a person just so that you can give them a shitty life living in a box where they can never persue their purpose?

I think if we brought the death sentence back, it would be the beginning of fixing how unreasonable we are with these long prison times because a judge/procecutor is going to think twice before killing somebody. Sending someone to death row isn't really different than giving someone 30+ years but it definitely feels different when you have the option.

Death penalty is just too masterbatory eagerly salivating on another's death. I don't see a difference from a serial killers intentions and pro death penalty individuals other then a better excuse. Let them exercise there rights in our justice system and when that is exhausted left to rot in a cell to be forgotten. They become legends and martyrs with even suicide let alone execution.

There is no point in executions other then satisfying the same bloodlust the killers have. Then it becomes a weird commodity showmen ship needing more killings the convict and hundreds more victims. No good comes from the death penalty.

Well, what's the alternative: keeping someone in jail for the rest of their life while we tax payers foot the bill to keep them alive for the heinous crimes they've committed? Keeping them in over-crowded prisons? Worrying about if they're gonna escape and kill others? They are WORTHLESS! They're NEVER getting out of jail ever again!! What possible good can come from keeping them alive? It also sends the message to other potential murderers out there that, they have nothing to fear because they'll just spend their life in jail with free room & board, free food, free medical, etc.! Yes and no. I think if we're going to use it, there should be none of these appalling, inhumane executions by gas chamber, electric chair, or even lethal injection. It should simply be one bullet between the eyes, and that's it.

And people given the death penalty shouldn't be on death row for decades, they should be given about a year for their possessions to be sold, given to families, stuff signed over, etc. And after that... you know.

I believe in the death Penalty. Some people are so evil, it is justified. The Death Penalty is not intended to be a deterrent to anybody but the person it is applied to. In this, it is 100 percent effective since no one experiencing the Death Penalty has ever lived to commit another crime again.
