Biden is barely an animated corpse right now and I am not just saying that because I don’t like the Democratic Party. Seriously most of us are going to start losing our marbles at 80 especially having one of the most stressful jobs in the world. Even if he is stubborn in his senility the DNC definitely doesn’t want him rubbing in 2024. He will get destroyed by any Republican candidate including Trump.

Personally I hope Florida governor Ron De Santis runs. He’s young, tough and has common sense. He also has the self discipline to think before he speaks. The only downside is he doesn’t have a “brand name” like Trump.

Sadly many Americans are low information voters and literally want celebrities and/or “big names” on presidential tickets (e. g. Clinton).

Seriously what percentage of Americans really do their due diligence researching a candidate’s proposed policy vs. just listening to the mass media and their friends?

I voted for Trump in 2016 not because I liked his personality. However he is a businessman and understands markets and enterprise. There is a reason our economy was so good prior to the pandemic. And the ECONOMY cuts through everything.

If he so much as puts his name on the ballot, Donald Trump will almost certainly be the Republican frontrunner, even though he wouldn't be my first choice. This is in part because everyone knows him and what they're getting into, part national name recognition, and also his popularity in polling data will dissuade a lot of serious Republican candidates. If Trump does not run and instead manages fund raising and rallies for other party members, then Ron DeSantis seems to be the most likely choice assuming he can get his name out there more. No doubt the Republican side of the swamp will push for a more milktoast candidate like Tim Scott though.

The Democratic party is desperately trying to prop up Pete Buttigieg, but it isn't working. He isn't quite as off-putting as Kamala Harris is, but he's equally stupid when it comes to the issues. The best thing they could do is pull a wild card out of their ass who hasn't really been in the spotlight at all, and can put on the appearance of clean hands from the current administration. This is a very difficult feat for the Democrats to pull however, because their party runs under a much more cohesive, iron-fisted rule than the Republicans, and there aren't many already in positions who aren't essentially puppets.

Yeah, I have noticed that. Indeed I kind of just assume anyone pushing a right wing narrative is a paid troll, these days, as it's hard to imagine any reason anyone would vote for the party that actively admits that they want to raise taxes on everyone except the rich. I just don't understand why the grievance culture is actually appealing to anyone and so I assume it isn't and people are just pretending because it's "edgy" or whatever. Or at least I haven't head a solid reason that anyone supported trump other than nebulous claims that things were better (they weren't - that's why he lost). And no one can point to any failure of Biden's without ignoring where things were when he started. All my life I've been the "no forgiveness" sort of person, and have practically had to go through therapy to become less so, but there is no understanding on my part that can result in the forgiveness of people who are not sorry and would do it again.

So, how would you react if Biden lost the election in 2024 but went around saying it was rigged as a pretext to attacking the capitol to pressure Harris to send all the votes for Biden's opponent back to their state, only counting the votes for Biden? Would you just let that slide and think the democratic party was just joking and had a bad day, but now they can be trusted to be a serious party again, without even admitting they did anything wrong? I live in a remote area and so dont really have friends in the classic sense anymore. Everyone i used to know in real life i mostly only talk to online. And I used to have trump supporter friends but they all blocked me during the 2020 campaings. Even my own mother. All I did was ask her what it would take to get her to question her loyalty to Trump. She said if he was convicted of a crime. I asked how she would know the conviction wasn't some kind of witch hunt and she blocked me.

Also, I'm not "far left." I'm just a fan of exploring practical civilized solutions to uneccisary problems and not a fan of indulging in grievance culture to avoid those solutions. The far left people I know are frankly irritating. But not in the sense that we disagree on goals, only that they can't seem to fathom that they could be wrong about their methods. Oddly, most right wingers low-key agree with my goals, but they just don't see them as a priority next to all the junk the far right fake news bombards them with. Which is, of course, the entire point of the far right fake news. It's annoying to have the entire existence of the Republican party depend on divisiveness but no one on that side is willing to even consider letting it go.

@normalice alright that gives me some more context about your background. You and I got in some real spats on other past posts. But lately I am trying to understand where people are coming from. Understand their personal experiences.

Personally this is what drove me to the right:

- I attended a far left university and they used tax payer money to force mandatory employee “diversity” training that was far left. Also there was constant feminist propaganda in all the dorms

- I dated a moderate liberal woman who I really loved back in 2013. We got in debates but not hate. She changed my mind on some things and vice versa.

Then she got involved with improv and theater. Initially I was really proud of her. It helped with her social skills (she was very introverted). But then she started rubbing shoulders and making friends with radical feminist types. I didn’t take it seriously at first but then she was getting more bitchy and putting me more on the spot about polítical issues. We broke up (I saw it coming) but she treated me like I was less than human. She was brainwashed into think that way because I am a moderate conservative

I politely declined. They acted like it was alright at first but then I notice most of my coworkers (all liberals) changed their attitude towards me. 2) Trump couldn’t shut his trap and tweeted his was to a one term president. I admit he was the king of self sabotage because he never thinks before he speaks.

3) The institutions of mass communication (mass media, social media giants, tech media giants) all mobilized against Trump. Twitter censored a f*cking true story about Hunter Biden. That was beyond disgusting and horrifying.

Meanwhile you got congresswoman Maxine Waters explicit encouraging people to “get confrontational” and riot if the Derek Chauvin trial wasn’t “guilty guilty guilty”. Anyway the democrats are in big trouble with the midterms coming up. The Republicans will take the house and possibly the senate. And unless Joe Biden can find a bulk supply of youth tonic there is no way he will get re-elected in 2024.

And? What does the existence or even ownership of a laptop have to do with the accusation? That's one thing the far right fake news never bothered to explain. It started with just some nebulous claims of corruption about Hunter Biden, with Trump trying to exploit Ukraine into fabricating the appearance of legitimacy to the accusation by announcing an investigation - just announce, by the way, there was no requirement that they actually investigate. That fell through when Trump got impeached for it so they came up with this laptop thing to create the appearance of legitimacy, without ever explaining how that would have made the accusation they had yet to define legitimate.

The intent was to re create the magic of the Comey letter. It was never to actually bring Hunter to justice. Just like after Trump won in 2016, at his first rally after, the crowd tried for the "lock her up" chant. He shushed them and explicitly said "that played well before an election but now we don't care." That was a confession that he knew all along there was never any wrongdoing. He made it up knowing his people are easily fooled into anger because they enjoy it. Exactly the same as the Hunter Biden thing. Its hard to say "Trump has been doing this false accusation all his life but >this< time it's possible that it is true because there is a laptop somewhere!"

As an aside, my suspicion is he picked Kamala as a different sort of political calculation. I have no doubt Biden anticipated that the Trump campaign had misinformation waiting in the wings for any VP that Biden picked and that the most effort was spent on those deemed most likely to be picked. As for being "cancelled" that's such a weird phrase. Do you complain that the Prince of Nigeria was cancelled? No. You agree with cancelling scammers. You can't have one side fully committed to relying on scams and the other that tries to rely on merit, then complain on the right's behalf about being disproportionately targeted when scams get banned. For the GOP it's too early to tell for sure. It really depends when the the GOP decides to abandon Trump. I don't see them making any real effort to do it. And if he gets the nomination again I think the only way Brandon doesn't get elected again is unless the economy continues it's downward spiral. I don't think America is desperate enough to elect Trump again. But hey, a lot can change between now and the next election.

Assuming that Biden is not a candidate there is no way to know who will get the democrat and republican nominations. There will be a dozen or more candidates and whoever survives the primaries will be nominated. Most likely the nominees will not be anyone we currently believe will be nominated. Trump may be a candidate but I suspect he will not survive the primaries.
