Why does Obama consider himself to be black when his mother is white and so were his grandparents?

This has always bothered me about Obama. He is bi-racial not just black!

One drop rule for one thing. Also because it gave him political leverage. Back during the Ron Paul Revolution Adam Kokesch interviewed people In DC about who they're voting for. Every single black person ended up laughing like, "you serious?" And one I distinctly remember asked, "you see the color of my skin?" Fact of the matter is that Obama got elected because black people always vote based on race as a whole voting block, and white people had long since moved on from primitive racial politics. But after 8 years of Obama pulling the race card and minorities continuously targeting and attacking white people the nation got Trump. That was entirely because of the garbage white people were getting in a country largely built by them. The USA is very much an extension of Europe culturally. Our institutions and structures are directly coming from ancient Greece, Rome, the British Empire, etc. Without European culture you'd have no USA to begin with. The lack of border security, the tax hikes, fuel prices, attacks on the 2nd amendment, welfare for illegals, etc have never been good for the democrats' platform. They still just haven't gotten the memo yet...

It's not difficult for a bi-racial person to learn how to play the race card. It's reminiscent of Elizabeth Warren pretending to be an indian when her indian ancestry is limited to possibly one ancestor 8 generations removed from her.

Because of America's history of the one drop rule. If you had one drop of black blood you were black and thus nit worthy of rights. So now we are just supposed to forget about that because white people want to stake claim for exemplary black people in their society? pssh ok.

A large number of people who are identified as African American are actually bi or multi racial.

A combination of skin pigmentation, certain hair and facial features may be indications of African ancestry.

Maybe that's the reason Obama checked African-American on the 2010 census questionnaire.

I know! Everyone goes on about how we had our first black president! He's NOT black! He's Malada (I don't remember how to spell the word). He was also never legitimately able to BE president!! You have to be born here to be allowed to be President! He was born in Kenya!! He doesn't even know how many states we have!!
Apparently, all you need to be black is a single drop of black blood somewhere in your lineage! Just like Kamel Hairs!! She's not black!! One of her parents or grandparents was JAMAICAN!! If I had no idea who she was and just bumped into her on the street I'd CERTAINLY NEVER think she was black!! Maybe Mexican or middle-eastern!

A biracial person gets to choose which race they most closely identify with and which race they consider themselves. It's their choice and theirs alone. No one has the right to pull out a calculator and say well I've done the math and here's how you need to identify yourself or here's what we will accept as your appropriate race.

But the flexibility this gave racists in this country was probably helpful to them. They could hate him because he was black or hate him because he was really white but refused to identify himself that way.

Ask the racists here, why Mixed people are not considered to be "White".

Why is it a Mixed person's issue when they are accepted or not accepted by different groups? Everyone seeks a group identity, and you cannot be a member of a group that rejects you.

because if you were to see Obama walking down the street minding, without knowing that it was Obama. You probably going to say that he is a black person. Just like many other mixed race people if their white features are not dominant.

Also take in account that when Obama was born some states and people were following the 1 drop rule so if a baby had 1 drop of a black person blood, i want to say it was 1/64th of a black persons blood which is pretty small, they were considered black and not white and were treated as if they were black.

so Obama considers himself a black man because his whole entire life that is how society viewed him as.

Why do people who are 99.9% white with one scintilla of Native American blood consider themselves to be Native American? If you got it in you, I guess you use it as leverage. I'm a mut of all sorts of European heritage, yet I see my self as American just like any one else should see themselves as just being plain American.

He looks like a "fully" black person and that's how society sees him. Mixed race people (black and white) are never considered white.
Besides he experiences racism the same way that a dark skinned black person does. To racists the fact that his mother was white doesn't matter.

Society tends to use that same method, the police definitely do.

They don’t do a background check to see if one parent was white etc.

Discrimination is not looking at how not to discriminate, it’s using what’s in front of you.

As a mixed women I've realized this is hard for non mixed people to understand this. Even tho his mom was white perhaps he grew up surrounded mostly by black people and that's why he identifies himself as black. When people ask me if I'm more Asian or more white I still cannot answer that question because I identify with both even though I grew up surrounded by my white family in a country where most people are white I still identify myself as Asian too.

Because when you look at him you see a black man… the world considers him black. If you didn’t know his mother was white you wouldn’t say “oh he looks like a biracial man” you’d say he looks like a black man cause he does…. Just cause you have a white mama or a white daddy doesn’t matter. If you have one drop of black you’re automatically black and that’s how it’s always been and some people still think that way.
