Why Is There Almost In Every Movie A Black Person?

These days, Hollywood is very much into "representation", and assume that most demographics of people are too stupid to relate to a character who doesn't look or sound like them. They also apparently think that the rest of need to be constantly reminded of the existence of women/black people/gays/etc., by having them in EVERY MOVIE, even ones set in third century Japan.
Fun fact: in 1581, an African convert was given by the king of Mozambique to Jesuit missionaries (under what terms and circumstances is unclear; he may have been a slave, or a helper, or a free man who had the zeal of a convert and wanted to spread the faith), and brought with them to Japan. He so impressed Nobunaga (yes, THAT Nobunaga!) with his strength and integrity that he had him trained and inducted as a samurai. Think they'll ever make a movie about HIM?
Then there are horror movies, which are made via a VERY cookie-cutter process: the first to die is the radio (if in circumstances where that would matter), then the black guy, then the women (often in tandem with their men, if they have them) in descending order of sluttiness, until only the last, usually virgin, girl is left. This is why you never see a horror movie set in an Angolan nunnery; the killer wouldn't be able to figure out where to strike first.
It's very stupidly sad; there are plenty of black people whose stories could carry a movie on their own- Mansa Musa, Benjamin Banneker, hell, George Washington Carver. You may be a little young to appreciate his work, but Lonnie Johnson is the unsung hero of every American who was a kid in the 80's (he invented both the Super Soaker AND NERF), and he's even still alive! But no, they're inevitably relegated to supporting or background characters, present only to check off "diversity" tick boxes.
I enjoyed your answer because it was informative and answered my question. I gave it a "thumbs up." :)
Because liberal Hollywood only counts Black people as "diverse." If it had an all Black cast they would count that as diverse too. They don't care about Whites, Asians, Hispanics, or Native Americans.
I met foreigners before and they said they thought the USA was about 40% Black based on how much they appear in movies and TV shows.
That's a great point. Thank you.

Well, if you’re 19, you wouldn’t really remember the time when there was tremendous UNDERrepresentation in media for people of color. Friends took place in New York City in the 1990s where the population at that time was over 1/3 black, yet you hardly ever saw any black characters, even in the background.
Beyond all this…. I mean…everybody’s fuckin’ nowadays, lmao. So the days of being able to cleanly identify everyone as White/Black/Asian/Latino/Middle-Eastern/etc are starting to pass us by. I’m always leery of any statistic framed like “X% of (insert race)….”, because at this point we could theoretically see a situation where like a bi-racial black/white mixed person earns a PhD and also murders somebody, and that same person’s racial identity could be skewed to fit a positive or negative narrative. “X% of white people hold a PhD!”👍👍 and “Y% of black people commit homicide in their lifetime!”👎👎, that could all conceivably be the same person. I’m not saying it’s the norm, I'm just saying it somewhat discredits the whole theoretical concept of trying to link race with behavior. But the point is, we’re seeing more and more racial blending, so this whole idea of “keeping count” or whatever is getting increasingly difficult, and it’s really not the way we should be aiming to view life and people. Like Chris Rock once said of people who say things like “I’m not racist! I have six black friends!”….“What, are you keeping count? If you know how many n——s have come over to your house, you a racist!”😂
I guess my real question is: “why is anyone, particularly white people, bothered by this increase in media representation? Especially when white people are basically just presented as “the norm”?” Like people say Tyler Perry movies, for example, are “black movies. Are Kevin Smith movies called “white movies?” Are ANY movies called “white movies?”
The main problem I have with any objection to all of this is just that it kind of has this unspoken undertone of “listen, this is a white country, so don’t go thinking you’re the same as white people, you’re still in a different category that’s ‘other.’”
1. Uhm. . . your photo shows "Black" movies. Maybe if you stopped watching "Black" movies, you would see a movie that doesn't have "Black" folks in it.
2. What is your definition of a "Black" person? Because I can only speak on behalf of African-Americans. There are a whole lot of movies that don't have African-Americans in them. If you are claiming that "Mixed" people, dark-skinned Latinos are "Black", Caribbeans, Africans, etc. . . are all "Black", then you have to understand, that silly assertion is on you. You don' t have to believe in race dude. You can choose to disbelieve in it. . . and accept what science says about it. Just because a person doesn't have what you think is "White" skin, doesn't mean they think they are "Black".
The OP is a racist. So no use talking to a delusional person, I caught them liking a poster saying “better for blacks to act than to kill ” 🤦🏽♀️
Approximately 71 percent of all female characters appearing in the top 100 highest-grossing films in the United States were white
Your question comes off as extremely racist and ignorant. Black people do not get nearly the amount of representation in films that white people get so it’s confusing why you as a white women would have a problem with more black people being represented in films?

because we have to get whites good and "numb" to forced diversity so they don't notice their neighborhoods going to shit and all the jobs they get denied for affirmative action and the crime and drugs being brought to their once safe and prosperous community and their children getting a criminal influence, the schools having to dumb down classes so everyone can pass, etc. If whites are allowed to think about all this the government will have to deal with a race war and we don't want that. We just want whites to accept that things are going to get worse for them now and ignore the fact that the root cause is diversity,
Try living in the U. K.. pretty much every family on tv adverts is mixed race. You can't watch any show without seeing the token black guy.
One school I know has a long murial painted on it's outside wall of kids playing and half are black. I doubt that hardly any of the kids there have ever met a black person in real life.
lol damn that’s so bad. my grandma says her hometown Birmingham only immigrants now. they’d never do that in my city tho, we have a black history mural commemorating panthers and such but it’s outside a HS in a black neighborhood. Random tangent: you ever see BBC kick Evelyn de Rothschild off set by cutting his interview short on live, to his surprise
They want diversity in a cast without actually having to have diversity, and usually, it's a mixed actress or a dark skin actor to fill in that spot. It's not actually a representation. Also, I have seen a lot of shows where there is an Asian or Latino as the whole representation for POC. There are so many shows out there, but if you aren't really looking for them; then you won't find them.
13% is still a lot, and there actually aren't as many black actors, but acting is a good opportunity for a lot of blacks.
What's more surprising is seeing gays in every reality show, when they only make up 3% of the population.
Let the blacks act. Better they be killin people on screen than in real life
So you’re just racist...
@caitycat21 what did I say that was racist?
Forced diversity is common Hollywood.
The sad thing is that the representation means little to nothing.
No one use to care about these things.
Wait until you get into the debates of Whitewashing vs Blackwashing
Then you will realize how far we have fallen as a society.
I'd love to see a movie with lots of naked black men. Black men are so fucking sexy have such big dicks and fuck so good. That's why I'm married to and have kids with a very dark sexy black man and love getting fucked in my pussy my tits my ass and my mouth by my very dark sexy black husband and several other very dark sexy black men all at once.
Same reason almost all of them have a gay or lesbian in them even though they are less of a percentage. Hollywood trying to force entertainment on people.
Keep in mind, I'm not against blacks or the LGBT community at all, in fact I've lived with lesbians and a gay friend recently.
I'm against Hollywood being dumb, which is why I haven't even turned on my TV this month yet, and here it is the 24th already.
Well if black people are 13.4% of the population and the move has 5 characters, there's a ~1/2 chance one will be black. Now I would wager that most movies have more than 5 characters so it only makes sense that most movies made in the USA have at least 1 black person.
There's more blacks in movies than Asians, Hispanics, and Indians put together. With your logic, there would be a lot more of those races in movies too then.
so... basically, 1.3 black for every 10-white people, which means that a Movie with 100 White people would not be realistic if there were Not 10 Black people... or for every 10 white, 1 black... I guess that they want to be realistic... just like in the real world?
Hollywood execs are tripping over themselves to prove how they are not racist.
I think it's some kind of stupid new PC inclusion law that says you HAVE to have at least one black person in every show!
i'm pretty sure that to win an oscar you need a certain amount of black people in it
Movies tend to have more than 3 characters, so it's natural that at least some of the actors aren't gonna be white when they're made in such a diverse nation. Also, diversity hires.
The same reason there is a Jew in every movie despite only being around 5% of the population.
What you have discovered, kiddo, is the talent pool of acting schools.
Go take your Anti Semitic bullshit elsewhere ‼️
They have to be politically correct if not they’ll be slammed in social media
The existence of black people in movies isn’t a political statement
Who ever cry the loudest i guess. But it's also a political strategy. Make something visible and you get used to it.
You are right even when we search for interracial porn there is always black guy with blonde girl but no brown guy with white girl or other race. Why only blacks are given chance?
@JustiReno I just told you facts
What are you even trying to get out of asking this lol, you do realize that everywhere you go in the us you’re bound to at least see a few black people right.
If you think about it there are more Jews than anybody. 50% of all actors are Jews despite being 1% or less of the US population
Because a lot of people not just black want more black actors in movies regardless if it was needed or not so yea
Then shouldn’t 13% of every movie have black characters?
No, not quite sir. My grandma never saw a black person in her life until she was 20. My parents went to school during forced integration when they bussed kids to different neighborhoods. My dad went to an all white school, only 1/3 “black” kids in his school, granted he my same skin color. I bet your grade school teachers never called you a filthy Neanderthal
@JustiReno no…but I don’t see how that is relevant. Wanting to keep the races separate is racist. By definition.
@JustiReno yeah and I agreed. Glad it was joking.
@JustiReno no…but I don’t see how that is relevant. Wanting to keep the races separate is racist. By definition.
RACISM "the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another."
@Cathy7734 it’s fine I’ve come to accept this site is hard of hearing errr understanding of written English. But, as I said I was joking and trolling because I find it funny people don’t like seeing black people on the TV 📺. And “races” sure do possess different “characteristics” and “qualities” such as dark brown skin for people from Africa and pale pink for people from Europe. This definition no doubt was NOT written by a lawyer. I find it slightly ironic, but more so pathetic that you are now attempting to shift a “racism label” on to me when you authored a Q with obvious undertones showing your disgruntlement seeing black people on TV. Everything I’ve said is most definitely “relevant” to the topic of race, sorry for leading on tangents, you need not address each sentence of mine. And c’mon CATHY starting out saying “no…”to humor, mental health and a healthy gut is not the best way to make friends
Yes, I know, blacks are really over-represented in movies. I hear Breitbart News is going to produce movies with nothing but Old White Men.
You people really and obsessed with blacks and what they do and how they're represented.
Forced diversity and diversity quotas.
Lol okay, do you think about this 24/7 😂
why are you so butthurt?
I'm not butthurt. Just an honest question. Why are you so butthurt that you have to post Anonymous?
Affirmative Blaction
I just enjoy the movie.
I don’t really care. Do you?
Where’s the problem?
