Which Kennedy?

I don't think JFK's assassination mattered all that much and I am not sure the the LBJ administration was all that bad although it did escalate Vietnam which Kennedy probably would have done too. LBJ didn't come from money like JFK did. LBJ understood poverty and racism. Lots of good legislation was passed while he was president.

HOWEVER, RFK's assassination looms much larger. Had RFK not been assassinated, I strongly suspect that the world would have been a much better place and we would have been 25 years ahead of where we are now in terms of environmentalism and green technology and also further ahead a bit in race relations.

Although people might not have found out then, the Truth is The failure of the Bay of Pigs was entirely JFK's fault. He changed the plans at the last minute to deny the Cuban Exiles army U. S. air support, getting them slaughtered by the merger Cuban air force.

To this day Cuban's have never forgiven him.
The same insolent also set the stage for the following Cuban missile crisis, which JFK resolved by giving into Russian demands to give up our own missiles in Turkey. The Russians never respected JFK which is why they also built the Berlin wall.

Indeed the Russian leader was quoted as saying he felt bad for America as it was soo easy to walk all over our leader.

To his credit JFK knew he screwed up bad and felt terrible about.

The main upside to JFK surviving to lose is we don't get LBJ.

If i read the Federal laws past in the 1960's under that name "Civil Rights" refers to a combination of the latter. I cannot however assume this is what you mean as, politicians are typical give Orwellian names to their laws.

Already started under Eisenhower Kennedy being a media darling like most democrats historically is played up but the people of the time were aware it was Eisenhower who created NASA and got us very much involved in the space race.

Probably the biggest one is... what if the Nazis developed nuclear bombs before the US did... would that have changed the outcome of World War 2?
