I think what the author is getting at is an event occurred in the last hundred years with a more or less similar beginning. America didn't get fully invested in WW2 until Japan attacked Hawaii. Prior to that, we were suppliers to the Allies. We watched as Germany walked through most of Europe, northern Africa and then a good portion of Russia. Would it have been better if the US pledged its full participation in stopping Hitler earlier? The question is do we, the US, quell this situation before further turmoil becomes a possibility. If Japan's attack on the US hadn't occurred to galvanize it into playing a bigger role, how much longer would it have remained a background presence in the war?

The US is either praised or scolded whenever described as the police of the world, often with the extension 'self-appointed', which to some translates into 'who asked you?' and 'mind your own business already'.

Nope not at all, also that would not work, SA 400 would take them out, it’s part of their design.

Also plenty current Gen aircraft can take out current Gen stealth, it’s not some invisible cloak these days.

The Russians are showing to the world exactly how they really are, on how they are happy to destroy entire cities at a WW2 level of destruction, to randomly murder civilians etc.

Those sanctions will be in place for a long time.

Look at the American empire now and it's worse than the Soviet Union ever was back then.

The world should have broken up the USA and Soviet Union. A lot of the world's problems today are of the USA's making.
