Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIs your white American family affluent due to land, property, or money that they inherited from their slave owning relatives?
I am not addressing whites who came to America after slavery was abolished. Not with this screed. Y'all benefit from white privilege too, but, I am currently addressing this post's question about why "some people blame white people for what happened 100 or more years ago?".
What's really "sad" is that white Americans who have American ancestors who owned and profited from black slaves (and black slavery); what's sad is that these white people keep bitching about how there isn't anything to see on the inequity front... for everyone to keep it moving and to ignore the glaring economic, educational, and social discrepancies between the haves (mostly whites) and the have nots (mostly blacks) in America today.
If you believe that most black Americans currently live below the poverty-line and in a modern-day form of slavery... uneducated, poor, fatherless, strung out, imprisoned, angry, broken, illiterate, inarticulate, befuddled, bamboozled, or confused; intellectually and/or morally bankrupt because they are inferior by Natural Selection, you are totally wrong.
If you every wonder, "Why those blacks can't get themselves together and pull themselves up by their bootstraps like my Mammie and my Pappy did", again, you are wrong.
If you and I had a foot race and before the whistle was blown for us to start; your people broke both my kneecaps, how could that possibly be fair? And, should you really proclaim yourself the winner after this fraudulent race?
The "race" is a metaphor for black Americans being subjected to centuries of assiduous overt and covert institutionalized white racism and oppression in this country.
As a result of this fraud, unfair economic, educational, and social residual effects have been dispersed to benefit most white Americans with slave holding ancestors.
As a result of this fraud, unfair economic, educational, and social residual effects have been dispersed to cripple most black Americans whose ancestors were slaves.
Honkies gonna honk, but, y'all need to give it a rest.
Really.
You're not fooling anyone by repeating this old chestnut lie that there's been an "Even Steven" playing field, all along, between white and black Americans. It's simply not true.08 Reply- +1 y
What’s sad is your obsession with race, collective guilt, and retribution.

I did not mention reparations. I was simply addressing the Asker's question... which is poorly stated. I merely stated that the majority of black Americans are not fully to blame for their dire circumstances. It's been purposefully orchestrated... In an age of information and reduced restrictions on social achievement, what black Americans do going forward (or not), is their responsibility.

You know what amazes me about people who buy into the song and dance that you do? That you somehow believe that black people are being “held back” or hamstrung and just have it oh so hard.
Let’s use your foot race analogy. Let’s say others aren’t getting a head start—it’s that black folk are starting much further behind the line. That fits into your whole “oppressed” motif.
What changes would need to take effect in the world for black people to start at the same point? What quantifiable measurable things need to happen to say that black people aren’t being held back? If this were a race, we could just say to start at the line, but it’s not.
So what do you want? Equal incomes across the races? Equal housing across the races? Maybe you want the same number of races to be represented at all jobs and places of employment? Maybe you want equal policing, with equal amounts of races being arrested, convicted, and sometimes shot and killed? I mean we’ve got to have equality right?
What does your perfect, just, kumbaya singing world look like?
If you can’t measure it, we can’t get there. How can we if we don’t have markers and goals. Maybe our goal should be something vague and perpetually unattainable like “no racism?” That sounds good. 🙄

It's not simply about someone getting a "headstart" in a foot race or their competitor getting their knees smashed in... It's about their competitor getting dog piled on for centuries while also getting kicked in the head repeatedly and getting repeatedly kicked in other necessary parts of their body--- fractured to the point of never again being able to function properly. It's about your team not only beating up and crippling your competitor. It's about your team paying regular visits to that person's family and friends and stealing their land, and raping the females, and burning down their houses, and their places of worship and congregation and their places of business. All done through brazen threats in broad daylight or hooded visits in the dead of night featuring rope and burning crosses. All of this done because your competitor ever dared to challenge you in a foot race. It's about you winning these rigged races over and over and over and over throughout the years and being given all of that stolen loot from your competitor's people. It's about you using it to enrich yourself and your offspring. It's about your bequeathing that stolen land, that stolen wealth, and those unlevel playing fields to your future generations. great grandparents and their willing that wealth to your grandparents and their willing that wealth to your parents... on your mom's and your dad's side of the family.

It's about white people like you in 2022 whining about how lazy blacks got what they deserved in life and how they should have done better with the table crumbs a broken, fundamentally racist system left them. Your high handed judgment abounds while you live in nice neighborhoods, snag great jobs, have a police force dedicated to keeping the darkies out of your community and relegated to drug-ridden ghettoes and janky schools with janky teachers who have been put there to ensure janky outcomes for your black opponents and that those darkies keep running a losing race. You think lazy blacks deserve their awful lot in life? Wake the fuck up and ask yourself a few questions. What race is predominantly featured in our highest offices of the land? What race holds the majority of the power in our federal, state, and local governments? What race is featured on the currency of the United States of America?
Opinion Owner+1 y@Agagagagaga
Wherever you go in the world, you can always tell which race of people enjoy the privilege in that country and which race that country was made for. How? It's the race people featured on the country's currency. So, use some freaking common sense. I hate talking to trollish, argumentative, unteachable bigots... possibly racists, like you, who always think your white racist ancestor's shit don't stink. You all have it figured out and whitey never did nothin' bad to nobody. You people just magically appeared in North America and were magically given everything... businesses, inventions, land, property, wealth, power, money, education, influence, and dominance because whitey is a lucky bastard that way and chosen by God. If a POC discovers a useful invention, make that POC disappear and step in to claim that invention. And, keep the myth going that darkie never invented anything. Is that right? If you were the least bit honest, you would admit that white Americans have coasted along on il-gotten gains belonging to POC for centuries in this country. Without black slaves, America would not have become nearly as advanced. So now, what is to be done about it? Your kind's grand thievery? You tell me. You think you know it all. Break down what the solution to this problem is.

These things happened far less than a hundred years ago.

We don't blame all white people for what was done.
But we sit there and are amazed how white people pretend once slavery end the world was perfect for black people.

Slavery existed from the dawn of civilization. In recent times, it finally came to be seen as inhuman and repugnant. But here is still slavery in different parts of the world and human trafficking is still common in the U. S.
The importation of slaves to the U. S. was criminalized 213 years ago, shortly after the constitution was ratified. Slavery was abolished 158 years ago. The biggest crime was segregation that began shortly after slavery was abolished and gradually began to be done away with well over over 100 years later, beginning in 1954. Tremendous progress has been made since then, but there are still vestiges of covert racism. However racial discrimination is illegal. There were affirmative action programs after desegregation. Mixed marriage is now legal and common. African Americans are ubiquitous in business and entertainment. So why the fuck are people still talking about slavery?
Something that people forget about is poor folks of other races, including whites. Do people who whine about slavery talk about Native Americans or Latino laborers and farm workers? What about the huge number of poor, white share croppers, miners and factor workers of the past? What about all the extremely poor white people today?
Race has been used by wealthy elites to divide people since the U. S. was founded. They convinced ignorant, impoverished white folks that they were better than blacks in order to continue robbing and oppressing them. Divisiveness is the way elites remain in control.
People need to wake the fuck up and stop being manipulated. We need to work together as brothers and sisters to end oppression for all and make this a country "of the People, by the People and for the People.20 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yBecause rather than accept that people are where they’re at in their life based on shitty choices they made it’s easier to blame others. I too have a history, very extensive history of genocide in my culture here in America as far as what happened to my people. But I don’t use that as an excuse to act stupid, to commit crimes, etc. I have a great life because I made that change. Of course I don’t forget what happened to my people, but I’m not going to use my ancestors as a reason for me to act like an animal. Too many people want free things w out having to work for it. Sad world we live it. May as we’ll blame Japanese kids who aren’t even born yet for Pearl Harbor.

+1 yIt not mostly about blaming white people it just a reminder so they definitely remember that history was an awful time, it basically kinda like how you women tend to constantly remind us men about the way we treated y'all or how LGBT people constantly tell us straight people about the crap we put them through. So no one is blaming you just reminding you about your ancestors past actions.
10 ReplyExactly! Many people are just too blind to realize that. That's what your ancestors did and you aren't in fault at all to take birth in that race. Everyone should be seen as an individual.

+1 yThey have to blame someone but the practice of selling slave started eons ago with The Egyptians. This has been happening throughout history and slave selling still goes on to this day in Africa. These people bring the slave trade up every few years but never ever do the say anything about modern slave trade let alone do anything to stop it just bitch about two hundred years ago in this country which the people today have nothing with that. They are just trying to extort money

Crack a world history text book and study it thoroughly before making such inane, unfair, and incorrect remarks. A race of people are not failures "for no good reason". There are a multitude of reasons that various groups of people are being held back while others are allowed to thrive.
