No. Cannot be responsible for what ancestors or past generations did. Whatever happened was the norm back then. Rightly or wrongly. Moreover, how far back do you take this? 18th century? 15th century? Roman times? Iron age? You cannot make reparations that far back.
Thank you for MHG!
No, slavery ended a whole 140 years before I was born
But what if you benefitted from it today

Let the past be the past, I have never known a single minority that doesn't have MORE and better opportunities than white people due to various government programs.
People today who've never owned slaves are not responsible for what happened in the past.
Yes there are people today responsbile for modern day slavery when they hire a prostitue who is being trafficked, or when they buy products made my forced labor for Africa or China, from children or adults.
All of that is indirect though and not relevent to black people in the past.
The more people talk about race the less I care. We are all people regardless of what our skin color is and should be treated equally, focusing on one race makes racism worse.
Those slave owners are long dead and so are their slaves. There is nothing that needs to be done at this time, beyond enforcing existing laws already in place.
Democrats, the party of slavery and Jim Crow laws... still represent Blacks for some reason.
It truly depends, but here's the thing, racism is alive and well today. We've seen it on the news countless times, and thats just what was recoreded, so there's no doubt that the legacy of those responsible for slavery, lives on today. In fact, just over 50 years ago Martin Luther King Jr, and Malcom X were assassinated. Even worst, its been proven by the court case listed below, that the FBI was responsible for the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.. So while slavery was over a century ago, the question is whether or not your belief systems still create environments that oppress other human beings based on their skin color. Without even realizing it, a lot of the time the answer is unfortunately yes, and this has more to do with ignorance than anything else. I've noticed that most people seem to think that actvists like like aformenetioned lived long ago, when that couldnt be farther from the truth. That's why it's important for people to know about more than just slavery, but also about redlining, Jim Crowe, segregation, and the various ways in which people of color have been targeted and as a result still struggle through today. The way I see it is, we may not always be able to help people, but the least we could do is not hurt them further. Hope that helps.
So the slave traders in Africa are on TV? I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying.
You were talking about those who are responsible for slavery, weren’t you?
Oh, so you’re not REALLY concerned with those who were responsible for slavery.
I'm fine. You do know who sold slaves in the 1800s to the Atlantic and Muslim slave trade, right?
@gorydetails What about "That's why it's important for people to know about more than just slavery, but also about redlining, Jim Crowe, segregation, and the various ways in which people of color have been targeted and as a result still struggle through today.", did you not understand?
The neverending cycle of victimhood, eh?
No. One reason why is because, as you said, the slave holders of the past are dead. I, for one, was born in 1987. The Civil War ended in 1865. That's a span of...*checks math*...122 years. So there's that.
Then there's the fact that some of us, like yours truly, know enough of their own family history to know who came to America from where and when. My paternal grandmother's parents came to the US from Italy in the early 20th century. Some of my maternal ancestors were still in Poland, whereas others were in America in the mid-19th century. And they were in... wait for it... Illinois.
I'm sure that there are plenty of others here who could tell you where their family was and when. The point here is that if someone is going to hold all of today's white people responsible for the sins of whites in the past, my response will be that that is racist and prejudiced garbage.
It doesn't make sense to me because white people were oppressed by other white people.
My descendants are basically Slavic peasants and farm workers who worked the land in Ukraine and Poland. They were quite possibly caught up in the Ukrainian famine which killed millions of people, instigated by Stalin. By the same token, my understanding was that my grandad was forced labour for the Nazis.
So how do these geniuses that come up with this horseshit of enslavement and reparation account for that?
No and blacks toke a big part in slave trade, as they do in killing each other nowadays.

Buyung Black votes with free stuff starting with The War On Poverty and his statement:
"I'll Have Those N (black people) ers Voting Democratic for 200 Years'
No, they are not responsible for the past. They are responsible for the present and to work together (all people) to try to create equality and to remove systemic racism or at least do what they can to promote equality.
Are Black people responsible for all the jobs and promotions they unfairly got instead of Whites and Asians that were more qualified? Are they responsible for all the crimes them and their ancestors committed against Whites, Asians, and Hispanics for generations in the USA? Especially the ones still alive today that benefitted from those actions.
If they are, I want reparations for the slavery my white ancestors endured a few thousand years ago!!
That's a funny picture! In the first place, I only see one black person in the whole shot!! 2ndly, that sign that says, "End racism"! STOP TALKING ABOUT IT, STUPID!! The more you bring it up the more it exists!! Nothing like picking at a scab to get get rid of the wound!! Leave it alone, it'll go away!!
If they are then people of every ethic background would be just as responsible for slavery and every other evil.
That Europeans were more successful and kept better records than other cultures does not mean other cultures did not engage in terrible acts.
Human are humans and the further back in history you go the darker and more brutal they tend to get everywhere.
there's no race on Earth that has a squeaky clean history
in regards to slavery there's been slaves and slave owners of every race but somehow the lefties just want to highlight the black slaves and white slave owners
Speaking as a white person who's descended from slaves, let me assure you that if I do, indeed, "do something" about this, it will be reviving Malcolm X and unleashing him on you. You don't become stronger by worshiping weakness.
Just imagine what equal opportunity guilting would look like, especially if you also take into account the recent past and present. I don’t think those who want to guilt whites for the past want to go there.
Well, yes, I always had slaves, picking cotton on my plantation, in Huntington Beach. They called me the Simon La Gree, right out of Uncle Toms Cabin. Harriett Beecher Stow wrote the book after me.
Damn you 'folks' pay up!!!
White... came here when slavery was already sorted out. Served the country in the military.
Now I'm suddenly blamed for shit.
Tongue my anus.
Im so sick of this whole black and white thing... creating problems, seed hate,
Why are those who claim to "fight racism" the most eager to differ and separate black and white people?
No, they're not responsible, but:
1. US society is.
2. Slavery was far from the end of it. Wilmington, Jim Crow, redlining, legacy admissions to college, etc.
It is simply a way for democrats to pander for votes. Any black person that voted for democrats because they think they will get a big pay day has been fooled.
In the past? Lol, you are so brainwashed. The feds would love you to believe that the 13th Amendment passed and everyone had a big multiracial dance party.
Everyone did slavery in the past. White people ended it. Get an education.
It's funny how commies always want to defund the police who are actively out stopping slavery, and they think White people are racist rednecks for bringing slavers to justice and trying to stop illegal smuggling of slaves across the border. That tells you everything you need to know about that.
This question is foolish and doesn't deserve a serious answer.
Why is this even a question? Of course not we weren't even alive 🤣
No. The only country with anything even remotely resembling this is North Korea. Do you really want to bring in North Korean style laws?
Simples...
The white people who think it was bad don't deserve to suffer.
I am responsible for my own life, my own actions. All this reparation, racial propaganda that the schools are teaching is total horse shit.
Ante up white boy! I hope that sounds as stupid as your question. And to ask anon.. In today's terms, some people tend to make slaves of themselves.
Are you count a slave just because your ancestors agreed to be slaves? The answer to my question is the same as the answer to your question.
If white people are responsible for slavery in the US, then all Africans are responsible for selling them.
No, of course not, but they’re still held accountable and it’s thrown back in your face by some
if they have money from great grandparents or gold pieces heirlooms maybe
What kind of foolish simple minded question is this?
Hey bro who are you?
simple minded.
Hey bro but who are you commenting on my posts
what are you a bot? what kind of question is that?
You the bot
We would have to hold everyone accountable for their ancestors past and not of us would come out clean.
This is fkn stupid
There is no way we should be held responsible in anyway for what they did. It was their choice not ours.
Of course they are not responsible. They are also not responsible for natural/cyclical climate change (global cooling)
No. It's time to just let the past be.
Obviously not.
