As far as elected officials go, yes. We have an increasingly staggering number of incoherent old goats who can't even remember people they talk to every day, others who aren't far behind them in age who have been in politics for so long that they've lost touch with realities in their homelands, and some younger blood who are products of a completely negligent if not maliciously incompetent education system. And all of these people are the ones who appoint their stooges into positions of authority.

Now the people behind the money and influence that steers the elected ones? They're not stupid, but they are very detached (often willingly) and do not care about anyone else's interests but their own. There's a few altruists out there, sure, but much of that is theater and self-gratification.

Well it’s a democracy, where most of the people get what they voted for.

A good way of reducing the risk of clowns in government is to have more options to vote for.

Also not vote for anyone over 65.

Over in the UK, at 70 you need to keep renewing your licence every three years as they don’t trust old people with responsibility of driving.
