Do you only hear and see the news you agree with, why, why not?

I usually only hear news I don’t agree with, haha. I don’t seek out too much news (or TV in general) on my own time. But my elderly father is with me, and he loves his FoxNews. I’m usually nearby, for the WORST time slots too, the nighttime “opinion” hosts like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity. I’m usually biting through my tongue and hoping I’m not bleeding out of my mouth while I hear their takes. It’s honestly hard to believe that they’re serious, lmfao. It’s like “tell me the news, but do it in a way to cater to miserable, fearful, hateful people, and make sure those people believe everything is on fire and the sky is falling at all times and the only way to stop it is to vote Republican.” Mission accomplished😂😂😂 And the best part is, their Pavlovian training will make them completely incapable of addressing something like I just said WITHOUT saying the words “democrats”, “liberals”, “the left”, “CNN”, or “MSNBC.” They can’t keep it to defending or admitting flaws, it’s always the other guy who’s at fault. Propaganda 101: convince the people that everyone besides you is lying to them😂👍
I don’t know, man, to be fair, I don’t see a ton of CNN or MSNBC, I’m sure they have their faults too, but when I do see them, I’m not knocked-off-of-my-feet stunned at the way they spin current events and the takes they have on them. FoxNews is WILD. It doesn’t so much bother me that it’s conservative as much as it bothers me that it seems to be (CLEARLY, in my personal opinion) the most sensationalist and seems to be the most designed to evoke strong emotional reactions from the viewer.
To be fair, Shane Gillis is right. You may not want a FoxNews mom, but, for all their flaws, it’s probably more fun to have a FoxNews dad😂😂😂

I follow news sources that don't lie to me, and admit when they've made mistakes. That rules out a lot of right-wing sources, especially from the US.
Do you think people watching Fox or further right sources will hear that McCarthy said Trump accepted some responsibility for the events of Jan 6th? Or that he wanted Trump to resign and other Republican lawmakers supporting the election lies to have their twitter feeds cut?
There are recordings. You can hear it with your own ears.
KEVIN MCCARTHY: "But let me be very clear to all of you, and I’ve been very clear to the president. He bears responsibility for his words and actions. No ifs, ands, or buts. I asked him personally today, does he hold responsibility for what happened? Does he feel bad about what happened? He told me he does have some responsibility for what happened." Jan 11, 2021
(It did make its way onto Fox, but reported as McCarthy "rebuts" the claims, which usually means making cogent arguments against something, not just denying that he said what he said. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mccarthy-rebuts-reporting-leaked-recordings-trump-resign )
I don't trust any of them. If I hear a story I go beyond that station to research the truth because they all have their bias toward one side.
I dont pay attention to the news at all nor the weather. Anytime i hear something, its from word of mouth or GaG

I regularly check out cnn and young turks as well as fox and the daily wire. I also listen to tim pool and bill maher. That being said i regularly find cnn and young turks to be the most misleading. Ie "dont say gay" i actually read the bill myself and it doesn't mention gays. Thats very misleading to do. This isn't the only thing I've regularly found them to be misleading. So i can't just trust what they say. I have to research everything they say. That being said i still check them out for a better understanding of what other people think is real. Smh.
I also find maher, pool and fox to be all generally middle of the road in various capacities. Some more left and right of others and some more entertainment than others clearly.
The daily wire content is my favorite because i am ultra conservative and Christian. But even they are not as conservative as myself. For example id like to see voting be for those 40 and up, property owners and males only. And id like to see all public gay trans promoters charged with a crime. Ie pride parade and rainbow flag wavers.
The news is the biggest lie in earth, it’s just a business that they need viewers and followers to, in order they make profits, so most of the news especially international one are just making up stories and making fake information about anything according to their ideology and their beliefs.
If you need true news you should watch different channels and online videos and read posts and written news from different opinions…. Then you could start understanding a little, where you need to start making your own research about the history of each event until hundreds or thousands years ago.
If you just believe in everything you hear than conversations you’re dumb 🤷
I watch various news media... helps me get the whole picture. A given news media/outlet is usually biased in some way, so it's important to get differing views.
I used to think that history (and news) was a collection of facts. As I have matured, I have learned that history (and news) is written by biased human beings.
Cable news in particular isn't about journalism anymore, it's about providing your perspective audience with red meat and outrage porn. For the "what, when, who, where, and how", got to Reuters or Associated Press.
Good point.
I listen to 2 leftists, 1 moderate, 3 conservatives, and 2 Libertarians. I also watch 1 conservative network, 1 leftist network, 2 Libertarian network, 2 moderate podcasts, and 2 conservative podcast
@goaded it doesn't matter. We had the discussion a long time ago. MSNBC was one of the networks I mentioned before. You don't get it. I don't agree with what any of the people say. I simply want to know where the opposition stands. As in "know thy enemy". I'm only interested in coversing in so far as making a compromise or finding a common goal to get what I want/need from them. I can never be allies with pro abortion, anti gun, pro establishment, pro trans people. But they can be manipulated to doing the bidding of myself and others for a few small projects now and again with emotional manipulation.
Which ones? I said one: Trump. Your wonderful "non-establishment" politician who won't accept the outcome of elections unless he wins (he was primed to do this shit six years ago, but he unexpectedly won). Putin invaded a country that had done nothing to his. And Trump ignored the Saudis literally dismembering a journalist, then his son in law's firm was bankrolled by them by billions of dollars (that he takes a percentage of, no matter how badly managed the "investment" is).
@goaded 1) Trump did very little in regards to Jan 6
Many got acquitted and the videos and pics are out, officials waved them in. It was a strategic move to make them all look bad. But many have been let off with no wrong doing. 2) AOCs story is confirmed a lie. 3) there's no proof trump was primed 6 years prior. 4) you highlight my point about emotional manipulation in regards to the Saudis and the journalist. That happened on Turkish soil, period. He was a Saudi citizen and was dealt with by his own people. His problem and SA problem, not ours. Simple as that.
@goaded US is a place for freedom, not safety. That's why it became the nation or did. Afraid I'd dying, stay in doors. Not my problem, not everyone else's problem. Live on doordash if you are afraid of your own shadow. Bodily autonomy, preached by the left but clearly not practiced. Just like even if getting rid of guns made people statistically safer that's not the point. You either have autonomy or you don't. You don't own me, period. The state shouldn't either. If I want to wear a seatbelt I will, or I won't. If I want to ride a motorcycle without a helmet that's my business, not yours.
Bullshit. Trump did everything he could to overturn the will of the people, including getting people to pretend to be electoral college voters, sending people to attack the Capitol, and still, to this day, doesn't officially accept the result of the election that was certified by every state in the land (he sometimes slips up and admits he lost). AOC's story was valid, and Trump was clearly signalling that he wouldn't have accepted a loss in 2016.
@goaded you let me know when you think word of mouth is enough to convict in a trial. When they day comes I wouldn't want to live in this country anymore. You have lots of word of mouth about Joe Biden beings pedo and a rapist. Are those automatically credible too because someone said so? This is a sad grasp at straws. People like you who go along with official stories about Trump supporters all being whatever image the left wants to paint fails to realize something very elementary. We own the vast majority of the guns. If it was a coup, NONE of those leftist officials would have left that building alive, period. Many of us are better armed then law enforcement and security firms by a country mile.
No, no, no. Don't pretend that contemporaneous records of what someone said, from a person inclined to support the perpetrator, are anything like made-up accusations.
As to the guns, they were stored just over the border in case they were "needed". Don't give me this "if we'd really wanted to take over the country, we would have" shit, that's what Putin's saying about Ukraine right now.
@goaded I didn't say the country, I said that building
there's a huge difference
Now let's say it was Republicans vs Democrats
Democrats have numbers but they don't have near the guns. The early start to the war would be a very one sided fight since most of you are afraid of your own shadows and any mention of the word "gun". Putin could take Ukraine. Ukraine did have outside help in the form of weapons, funds, and private merc groups. At any point Russia has the capability to wipe them out, obviously. They just want to do it through conventional warfare. If we are talking about gun owners vs the state then apparently you haven't been paying attention to Afghanistan. Neither the soviets nor the feds could keep it and that's because you don't need wmds to win a war. You just need to be in it for the long haul. That's what Ukraine was supposedly doing but I don't know about now. Then again I haven't paid much attention to Ukraine because it got pushed so much I got annoyed and changed channels. They keep begging for more and more help. Brah either won your own war or come to the table
We got our own problems, Ukraine is not on our list of priorities.
More bullshit. Taking over the building was an attempt to take over the country by force. If you'd gone in with the more than the few firearms that were there but not used, the National Guard wouldn't have hung around for hours waiting for orders, and you know it.
"Putin could take Ukraine."
Fuck me, you love Putin as much as you love Trump, and for the same reason; they make you feel manly. You're not. He hasn't, and nor did Trump take the US.
@goaded nah I just love triggering you cuz I don't give 2 sh*ts about Ukraine as it's not MY Country. I am a nationalist, not a globalist and I vehemently oppose globalism. Besides telling the truth hardly means I "love Putin". But I do like him more than Obama and Biden because he takes what he wants at the very least and doesn't hide it like Obama and he doesn't allow himself to be bullied like Biden. You can use all the moral outrage you like to justify in your mind how you're morally superior to me if you'd like. Fact is Obama killed a shit to of civilians directly in the middle east and caused many more in Mexico and libya, so spare me. As I said emotional manipulation doesn't work on me, I'm not a leftist. As far as the national guard I'm not going to sit here and explain to you how you can turn ammo into bombs. That should be common enough knowledge. The national guard wouldn't all open fire because chances are... and get ready for this one... they had family or friends in that crowd room shocking I know. Conventional warfare won't work here at home. Might want to get with it on urban warfare tactics bud. What do you think I do most of the time? My free time is always connected to warfare. How many war games have you ever participated in? My guess? None...
No I typically check what multiple media outlets say. Because the truck is somewhere in the middle of what they all say. All media is biased at this point and I just want as close to the truth as I can get.
Truth not truck.
I watch FOX 90% of the time and then turn to MSNBC and CNN just for laughs. I love how they are losing their shit because Elon Musk might but Twitter. The last thing they want is free speech.
@Echosoul
UK? LMAO Figures.
@Echosoul
Yeah, whatever you say, genius.
If it's actual news you can't agree or disagree. If it's political commentary I only listen to what makes sense to me.
One time I tried watching Fox content "just for laughs" and it seemed surprisingly plausible. But it's more a question of what they're not reporting.
Real news programs show the pure news and NOT opinions!!! American news "shows" are mostly insufferable because they do the opposite of that. FOX is the absolute worst.
That's very true. However, they are rather niche, so in absolute terms the damage FOX "journalism" does to the society is much larger.
''News'' usually don't address my points of Earthly information interests.
I'll have a short look at my online ''news feed'' in the morning and then proceed to the really important stuff of the day.
As for ''TV news'' - - - fuck them.
I watch a few independent news sources and read up on things myself. Getting your news from one side is at best only 1/3 of the story
On my television there are only two important newscasts, I watch the news that those two newscasts show. I draw my conclusions later.
I think most people do this. It is hard to find true thinkers nowadays that want to research both sides. ... But you cannot truly understand a subject unless you can argue it, affectively, from both sides.
I gave up watching the news MANY years ago. Wayyyyyy too depressing!!!
I cut all news sources out of my life two years ago. Best choice. I get news filtered from those around me. Learned it’s all I need.
Yes, I tried listening to the other side but it kept making my blood boil. So for my heart health I had to give it up. It wasn't always like that though; it was about the time Jaun Williams got fired from NPR when the news reports started to get me angry.
My news sources are mostly liberal biased like me but I also read the National Post or other right wing sources sometimes. I check out far right stuff on occasion but it is so incoherent and badly reasoned every time.
In this day and age the country is more divided than ever. One should block out all media and stick to views, values, opinions, policies, etc. I like the stuff that is as real as things you see right in front of you.
No. Because I'm conservative and no news agrees with us. It's all liberal controlled garbage.
Lol. You call yourself conservative but you haven’t been monogamous with your husband
It's our choice how wet live our life. Something liberals can't understand because they want to control everyone and put them into boxes
I'm curious where you are and what your news options are
Only libs do that.
Conservatives meanwhile like to look at both sources.
We just go to liberal news for the LOLs.
I don't listen to news like CNN, MSNBC, etc. I only watch Fox News Channel.
So your answer would be "yes."
no... i like to argue in the comments of channels on youtube i disagree with
The right wing media are the only ones I listen to because the left doesn’t ever believe in telling the truth
The whole right-wing media machine is trying to paint anyone who wants children not to be bullied or discriminated against for being different as "groomers", while Matt Gaetz is under investigation for having paid sex with a 17 year old girl, Jim Jordan "overlooked" boys under his care being sexually abused and Trump was in the habit of knowingly walking in on teenage girls getting changed. But it's the left "doesn’t ever believe in telling the truth".
I don't even watch news. Every story is twisted in some way to sound more appealing or appealing. I'd rather just watch something entertaining
I only see the news "they" agree with. They banned hundreds of news sources which they deemed "misinformating" and that includes some big respectable ones.
I don't watch any news. Life is better that way. It's always negative shit
I don't watch the news I observe reality around me and make judgment calls based on what can be observed.
Nope. Plus u gotta watch freaking C-Span. Its the only non biased news channel on da erf.
I’d consider myself a Republican but I watch more CNN than Fox.
I'm skeptical of right wing news propaganda sources. Data source is as important as the data due to biases and deliberate fabrications
I watch a few different news channels
In my country, you can't pick.
I read and listen to a variety of news sources.
When I see news it usually just disappoints me
We’re both educated, so yes.
The one news devices I will not watch is CNN
I avoid the news
I try not to
Yeah ı seeing
