Why do you think neighbors can easily help each other and then easily turn on each other during crises?

Tribalism my friend.
ima use a zombie apocalypse as an example but it would apply to a lot of situation regarding hurricanes genocide robot apocalypse etc this idea is universal regardless of situation.
say you have a zombie apocalypse do you have enough ammo for you and your family to last for saying here you have enough food to last for a year and you have planned on four people if you’re older maybe you plan on allowing your children and their children and spouse. But say you I have a wife and two kids you’re planning on enough for you to eat and drink between your wife and your kids enough ammo so that you and your wife and your kids can defend yourself and you don’t know when we’re going to get more supplies. If you take in your neighbor if that’s nothing to offer then you have reduced your ammo food by your neighbor and their family say sis one person well now you’re providing for five people. Say it’s your neighbor wife and one or two kids on our you are protecting 7 to 8 people and so on, unfortunately during time to crisis we try to make sure our tribes survive and hang anyone who tries to get in the way of that
This is true, in a board global sense our tribe is our nation states, (Without the presence of social media). Our tribalism tend to fall to our states and locations, people in Texas are loyal to Texans and people in California are loyal to people in California, people in piece county Washington are more loyal to those in piece country then king county. Your more loyal to the people who live on your street then you are those on the street over, your more loyal to your wife and kids and the family you were born (or adopted) into rather then you next door neighbor,
This thing about social media that has changed the dynamics in tribalism is now we look our neighbors and think “ oh there an evil republicans”. Or “there an evil democratic” rather then leaving politics alone, The reality is the biggest threat to democracy isn’t democratic or republicans or Putin or Xing jing ping, it’s social media it’s self. I agree with more people in Florida or Texas then I do Washington state or Oregon. Without social media I wouldn’t be able to talk to people in Florida or Texas I’d have the people around me and the country would be a lot less polarized then it is today. Instead we would be political when need be but for the most part ignore things that happened in other states, With social media this is no longer the case which is why we are in a event that will be known as the great sort in the United States where people are moving to states where they agree with the politics of the state rather then try to help fox there communities and make life better for those In your local area. In other worlds social media has killed federalism (which the United States we’re suppose to be). And now we have a more centralized government which will end up destroying the United States and American democracy as we know it
i rely on myself and provide for my family. and for my neighbors dogs. i don't know what would happen if my neighbors attacked me but it's very possible

Propaganda. No matter how absurd it may be, the average person is still gullible enough to fall for it when it points to certain people saying "they are the threat".
In time when not everyone's needs an be met it falls to you to make sure you and your own get through
Our very genetics agree
Not really. Besides the word crisis being thrown around and not your pic, neighbors will turn on others for much more silly reasons.
Human nature is self preservation at all costs.
why wouldn't they?
