Perhaps I've read unreliable sources but I've read somewhere that Gen X'ers have suffered the worst from student loan debts out of any other generation, even more so than Millennials.

Not sure. But the GI bill saw the biggest wave of college educated Americans. So I can see how more Americans born and less government spending would send the college loan crisis sky high per year.
