What is the point of a supreme court, if it's just going to overturn its OWN DECISION?

Isn't the supreme court, the highest court in the land. Aren't all decisions supposed to be FINAL

If a decision maker realizes that a prior decision was wrongly decided, should they stand be and perpetate their mistake or should they correct it?

In 1938, The Supreme Court announced its decision in Erie Railroad Company v. Tompkins, 304 US 64 (1938). In that case, it overruled the 1842 Supreme Court decision in Swift v. Tyson. The world didn't collapse when the Erie decision was announced.

Look I understand you’re upset but the Supreme Court is suppose to be the interpreters of the constitution. No where does it give federal government such control on abortion. That means the states govern that. That’s how our country works. It just means you need to fight on the state level. Why would you want the federal government to have more power than they’re entitled to? I do understand it sucks that some states have a fall back on abortion that will immediately go into effect. We as states need to fix the mistake, not the federal government.


Additionally, do you suppose we change the entire structure of our government for this? If so, how?

Yep; I didn't understand how and or why the re-decided the opinion. That is totally negating democracy because at the time; the people voted those justices in. Those past justices made that decision because of democracy. The current justices shouldn't have the right to just go ahead and overrule it. The constitution was made in the 1800s times have changed. We are living in 2022. At what point is US government going to apply 2022 to law?

Justices are not voted on by the people (they are appointed by the president and confirmed by the legislature), and the US Constitution was ratified in 1788. There is no part of the constitution that supports or even implies support for abortion, which is why it was until 1973 left to the states to decide. Roe v Wade was an idiotic, wrong decision by the Supreme Court that even Ruth Ginsberg acknowledged despite being an avid supporter of abortion.

One would think but in terms of Roe vs. Wade it seemed they didn't seem to care much about the states making there own rules anyway, when texas passed that ban they didn't do anything about it. This makes me wonder how many other supreme court rulings will be rolled back.

It was a weak argument to begin with, comparable to the three-fifths compromise. The right to abortion was never set it stone and our country has always moved in the direction of personhood rights.
