Having never met either, neither. But since they are both pictures and people only take contrast pictures if they are trying to push an agenda they know no one should choose objectively, then as the picture on the left looks the least trustworthy I would say it is probably the most trustworthy.

Yeah, the question is "is the photographer trustworthy?" If yes then what you see is what you get. If no then you have to consider the the strong possibility that the opposite of what is true is being portrayed.

I always try to answer someone's reason for asking rather than what they as. This results in a good (or at least thoughtful) answer for questions asked in good faith and calling people out when they ask in bad faith.
